Discussion Pam & Mick spin off

I really love Pam and Mick more so than Gavin and Stacey sometimes and always thought it would be really great to see them in their own spin off show. Not sure if this would work the same now as the actors are older?!

Maybe even a young Pam and Mick obviously played by different actors. I just think it would be fun to see.

What’s everyone else’s views?

Discussion Did Dave ever stop being riddled?

Watched the show all the way through recently and noticed an early scene where Nessa tells Dave she'll never get with him because he's riddled. Later on, Dave and Nessa end up nearly getting married, so I'm curious, did Dave ever canonically stop being riddled, or did Nessa just stop caring?

Discussion What was Sonia’s intentions?

There are moments where it’s clear she isnt physically attracted to him.

It can’t be because of money, because Smithy isn’t loaded.

Was it purely because he allowed her to walk all over him and she got her own way?

Am I the only one who thinks Pam’s gift of the keyboard was a bit tacky for Mick. Like Mick obviously has a good job and they have good money I’m sure they could afford a proper piano to go in their living room!

Discussion Guys can I say a hot take I’ve had for a very long time about Gavin?

In s2 I find him very insufferable. He doesn’t care about what Stacey wants and doesn’t care that she’s homesick. For example at the barn dance he goes straight home afterwards and only arrives just before. I find that very inconsiderate. And he’s outright rude to her family in so many scenes. For example with Jason. He outright ignores him when Jason tries to talk to him. And he says that Stacey can’t spend time away from her own family. Meanwhile Gavin doesn’t want to listen to his wife’s wishes and even consider moving away from his family.

Thank god in s3 they seemed to make him so much better. He was more considerate of Stacey’s needs and wants and of her family. I’m sorry guys about ripping into Gavin like this I feel like Dor lol.

Fan Theory The Gavin & Stacey theory no one is talking about: Smithy, Nessa, and Bryn are all on the LGBTQ spectrum (and coming out helped me see it)

Hear me out, because I’ve been analyzing the subtext of this show way too much and it all clicks into place if you look at the real dynamics underneath the comedy. Having recently come out myself, I think looking back at these characters through that lens completely changes how you read their entire stories.

Smithy: I know the official script says he's straight, but his absolute, all-consuming devotion to Gavin goes miles beyond a normal bromance. The man demands total priority, obsesses over Gavin's whereabouts, and lives in a hyper-domestic codependency that screams "main event of my life." To me, Smithy is fully gay.

Nessa: Her chaotic history with men and her massive swagger give off major queer energy. While she's had her run with blokes, she sits right on the bisexual spectrum, but her true, unshakeable emotional anchor has always been Stacy. Her love-hate relationship with Smithy reads like two people trying to force themselves into conventional boxes while hiding who they actually are.

Bryn: Let’s talk about Bryn. His intense, hyper-focused obsession with sitting Gavin down for the ultimate route-planning session—even after Gavin had already driven up to Wales twice—highlights a level of domestic overinvestment that goes way beyond casual family care. His eccentric lifestyle, deep sensitivity, and love for domestic projects give off serious closeted or queer-coded vibes.

Am I completely losing the plot, or do their character arcs make way more sense through this lens?
