Fanfic I’m at a bit of a crossroad right now, concerning my fanfic(s).

Post image
• Upvotes

So for those who don’t know, I’ve been writing this fanfic called By Faith Alone, about a lone Black Templar ending up on falmart. (Linkie here). I’ll probably do another 2-3 chapters for it.

But I’ve also been thinking about writing one about the gate opening up to Lord X’s world. And if you know Lord X, you know shit’s gonna go south right off the bat. I’m thinking about calling it something like Song of the Void.

What would be your advice? I feel like I should finish By Faith Alone first.

Light Novel Another bonus short story by Yanai Takumi

Here is another short story by Yanai Takumi, this time from GATE:ZERO (Part 2), here translated for the first time in English.

In the Case of Lieutenant Colonel Yōga

The 12th Brigade—

When Acting Prime Minister Hōjō ordered a public security deployment, the Ground Self-Defense Force units stationed in the Kantō region and its environs, though a certain frenzied bustle could be felt in them, readied themselves in orderly fashion and moved out.

The airfield at Sōmagahara Garrison was filled to the brim with the sound of turbine engines.

The rotors of the UH-1Hs and CH-47Js lined up in rows on the apron spun at high speed, tearing the air to shreds.

On top of that came the furious hot exhaust of the jet engines, so it was no exaggeration to say a gale was raging across the apron.

Through the blazing heat and turbulence, the personnel of the 2nd, 13th, and 30th Regiments of the 12th Brigade formed up in ranks and were boarding one after another.

Beside a UH-1H that had already finished its takeoff preparations and was waiting for the order to advance, Lieutenant Colonel Yōga was pleading with something before Colonel Hino, commander of the 2nd Regiment.

“Hino-rentaichō, a little longer, please, just a little longer! The power amplifier will be here any moment now!”

What Hino saw were the speakers mounted on the UH-1H, in great numbers.

No, judging by appearances, it might have been more accurate to say that a rotor and a cockpit had been attached to a countless mass of speakers.

Hino, the regimental commander, heaved a deep sigh and asked.

“Yōga, listen carefully. It’s true I approved mounting speakers. But the stated purpose was that they could be used to call on residents to evacuate from the air, or to call on the enemy to surrender. Is my memory of that mistaken?”

“No, sir, it is exactly as you say.”

“Then how in the world did it end up looking this cluttered? Are you planning to hold an outdoor concert?”

“No, sir, it’s background music. Psychological warfare, a war of nerves. Stirring music will have a strong intimidating effect on the enemy and a strong morale-raising effect on our own side. And for those waiting for rescue, it will serve as encouragement, like the bugle of the cavalry coming to the rescue.”

“Will it carry over the noise of the helicopter?”

“Leave it to me, sir. This Hirasera high-performance sound system can do it. To the existing 4-way setup I have added a fifteen-inch woofer for a bass-range back-loaded horn, and on top of that a super tweeter, so the sound will carry far, even over the helicopter’s rotor noise.”

“Will the vocals come through properly, too?”

“To cover the vocal band, I have installed eight ten-inch cone speakers as a Low-Mid system.”

“Sō ka. What will you use for the source?”

“I have prepared a masterpiece recording of Wagner, conducted by Karaman and performed by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra!”

Hino’s head began to ache.

“And yet there’s no power amplifier?”

“That’s why! That’s exactly why I’m asking you to wait for the departure just a little longer, just a little! It was all so sudden, and the preparations took time, and—”

“Then give it up. We cannot afford to fall behind.”

“But — but I’ve prepared this much, siiir!”

“Scrapped. Wait for the next opportunity.”

“There’s no telling whether there will even be a next opportunity, siiir!”

But the regimental commander’s order was merciless, and the helicopters began taking off one after another.

Helicopters packed with personnel lifted into the night sky over northern Kantō, with Mount Akagi spread out below them.

It would be a little while yet before Lieutenant Colonel Yōga’s preparations proved useful in actual combat.

Notes: The name "Karaman" (カラマン) mentioned by Yōga is a thin disguise for the famed conductor Herbert von Karajan. While the Warsaw Philharmonic is a real orchestra, von Karajan never conducted or played with them, so the pairing is a joke. The HIrasera brand mentioned by him is also fictional.

Sōmagahara Garrison (相馬原駐屯地, Sōmagahara-chūtonchi) is a JGSDF military installation located in Shintō Village and Shibukawa City, within the Gunma Prefecture, Japan

Question Would Gate(2015) be great in Toonami? Should the newest Gate series be on Toonami as well or what?

I mean I like think this series should be on Toonami in my opinion it seems like a great and fun fit(especially when Toonami is using old anime series nowadays)and with the new series coming as well it might be a great opportunity for it to be on Toonami. There could be complications and reasons for it not being on Toonami but still I figured I should do this.

Fanfic So i recently found out that there are a bunch of gate p#rn fanfics. I know I shouldn’t be surprised that they exist, but I am warning you now: DO NOT READ ANY OF THEM.

I made the grave mistake of reading a bunch of them. I mean, I always tread these kinds of fics with the utmost caution, but still man, I saw a ton of fucked up shit. I have no clue WHAT kind of person comes up with these things that are in it. And trust me, I AM SPARING YOU THE DETAILS. You do NOT wanna find out yourself, but if you really want to for some reason beyond my comprehension, have your eye bleach on standby.

Also, the image in post was my face the entire time.

Note: If you asked why Trench Crusade factions territory on the map is significantly larger than the JSDF's territory and somewhat overlaps with it. It's because they are far more aggressive than the JSDF, and doesn't care about the concept of borders.

Do you think Popeye would be able to rescue Piña and/or take down Zorzal while the Japanese provide the distraction that they do in the manga (pretty much drawing out a bunch more of their more powerful units)

not only do I think he would, but I think he would make sure it work out of them

Simply because of the spinach

The second he pulls out that can of spinach. Everything is going to go to shit for Zorzal’s guards.

If you don’t believe me, I’ll list out a couple of things he has done

He can knit an anchor chain maybe about 10 times if not 100 times faster than a machine

He has given the sun a black eye,

punched ghosts and other abstract spirits,

turned animals or people into inanimate objects including, but not limited to. A meat market, a sausage, a pile of junk. (and that’s probably only the tip of the iceberg of what he’s turned people into.)

And let’s not forget my personal favorite.

An entire giant turkey dinner!

He’s also reached out into the real world to grab a can of spinach to bring himself back into existence

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention the time where he fought his own creator and won.

And I’m not even going to get into what else the spinach can do. I’m gonna let you guys figure that out yourselves.

But please let me know what you guys think is gonna happen (but personally, I think he’s fucked, not even Rory could stop him)

Edit to make sure I'm following the rules.

Discussion Thought You Guys Might Enjoy This Story Extract Where a Modern Army Gets Beaten by Enemies with Swords & Magic

Context: These passages are from the novel Legion where the Imperial Army (from Warhammer 30k) get ambushed by the enemy "Nurthene" faction's magic artillery and swordsmen and lose despite having guns, tanks, and spaceships

Thousands of luminous projectiles were raining down out of the twilight into the basin, like spits of fire or a cloudburst of little shooting stars. Every one exploded in a searing fireball as it impacted. The overpressure was knocking men to the ground. Soneka reeled as fiery detonations went off all around him like grenades. The bang of the first few impacts had deafened him.

He saw men thrown, burning, into the air by blooming flashes. He saw three of his company’s tanks quiver and then explode in whickering storms of shrapnel fragments as the sizzling pyrophoric deluge struck them.

It wasn’t a freak hailstorm. Despite the Imperium’s scouts and recon, despite their auspex and radar, despite their careful deployment and marching cover, despite the omniscient monitoring of the expedition fleet in high orbit, the Nurthene had surprised them.

The Nurthene were of a tech level several points down the scale from the Imperium. They still favoured blades. They should have been easy to overrun. But from the opening actions of the expedition war, it had become clear that the Nurthene had something else, something the Imperium entirely lacked

Lord Commander Teng Namatjira had described it, in a moment of infuriation, as air magick. The name had, perhaps unfortunately, stuck. Air magick was why Nurth had held off the might of an Imperial Army expedition for eight months. Air magick was why a Titan cohort had been decimated at Tel Khortek. Air magick was why a Sixth Torrent division had disappeared into the desert sink at Gomanzi and never returned. Air magick was why nothing flew above Tel Utan, why every attempt to destroy the place with air strikes, missiles, orbital bombardments and troop drops had failed, and why they were being forced to assault the place on foot

The Nurthene had lore beyond the Imperials. The elements obeyed them. They were casters-in of devils.

The hail suddenly ceased. Blinking around at the devastation, Soneka heard snippets of the abrupt quiet too: blurts of crackling fire and the screams of men, cut up and mixed with baffling, numb seconds of profound deafness.

‘Oh fug!’ Lon cried, suddenly, awfully audible.

The Nurthene were on them.

Nurthene infantry swarmed out of the shadows and pits of the enclosing night, and poured into the firelight. Their swirling pink robes and silver armour shone in the flames.

The falx was an astonishingly proficient and barbarous weapon. Two and a half metres long, it was essentially a hybrid spear, a scythe straightened out. Half its length was a straight handgrip, the other half a long blade with a slight bias hook, the inside curve of which was razor sharp. Spinning and sweeping a falx like a flail, an expert Nurthene could lop off limbs and heads, and even bisect torsos. The blades went through almost any metal. Only liqnite could break the blades, but it was impossible to use it in combat. Liqnite canisters came out when the fight was done, to neuter the fallen weapons of the enemy. A spray of liquid nitrogen froze the metal brittle so that it could be shattered underfoot.

Nurthene rushed at them from the ditches of the sink. The first Troopers they met were scythed down by the long, whirling blades like tall corn. Arms and heads flipped into the air. Arterial blood squirted. Truncated bodies fell like sacks. A few carbines fired, but it was hardly a proper reply.

‘Dancers, Dancers! This is the Dancers!’ Soneka yelled as he fired. ‘CR19! We need help here. Immediate. Major incursion!’

‘Stand by, Dancers,’ he heard an uxor’s voice reply. ‘We are aware. Retasking units to your position.’

‘Now!’ Soneka yelled. ‘Now. We’re being slaughtered!’

One of the men beside him suddenly fell sideways, split in two from shoulder to groin. Pressurised blood escaped in all directions at once. Soneka wheeled and saw a Nurthene spinning his falx back from the blow to strike again. Soneka slashed with his sword bayonet in an attempt to block.

Fanfic Another peek at my TFR fic. CIA (possibly the Cognoscenti) subplot with the Saderan elite.

Post image
114 Upvotes

The interrogation room set up in the damp, stone basement of a requisitioned imperial estate near Deabis smelled of damp earth, copper, and modern industrial antiseptic.

Dominic, or that's what he called himself, a senior CIA covert operations officer assigned to the PDTO-NATO Joint Interrogation Group, sat quietly at a folding plastic table. He wore no tactical gear, just a plain, rolled-up Oxford shirt, dark trousers, and reading glasses he used to flip through a thick manila folder filled with satellite imagery and encrypted field reports. Opposite him, chained to a bolted iron chair, was Senator Lucius Varo, a wealthy patrician and one of the largest slave-holders in the central Saderan provinces.

Varo’s face was bruised, but his posture remained arrogant. He was accustomed to Saderan political games, where patrician blood carried weight and torture was an art form delivered with dramatic speeches. He assumed this foreign "barbarian in glasses" would eventually try to negotiate.

"I have told your military captains a dozen times," Varo spat, wiping blood from his lip onto his fine tunic. "I am a senator of the Realm. I do not track every piece of chattel that passes through the northern markets. If your missing Japanese citizens were sold, they are in the deep mines or long dead. You have no jurisdiction here."

Dominic didn't look up from his file. He took a slow sip from a stainless-steel thermos of black coffee, set it down without a sound, and adjusted his glasses.

"You know, Lucius, when your people marched through Ginza, you took roughly two hundred civil abductees through the Gate," Dominic said, his tone entirely conversational, like a bank loan officer reviewing a mortgage application. "We’ve recovered one hundred and forty-two. But I assume there's more out there. Our overhead imagery picked up a covered transport caravan leaving your primary estate three nights ago, heading toward the mountain vaults near the capital."

"I know nothing of any caravan," Varo scoffed, leaning back as far as his chains allowed. "Do what you will. Beat me. Execute me. Prince Zorzal will retake this city, and when he does, your little coalition will answer for every drop of noble blood—"

Dominic held up a hand, cut him off mid-sentence without raising his voice, and tapped a button on a grey tactical radio sitting on the table.

"Bring them in," Dominic said into the mic.

The heavy oak door swung open. Two 2046 officers in monolithic multicam gear, high-threat plate carriers, facial ballistic shrouds, and glowing red optical sensors stepped into the room. Between them, they nudged forward a terrified woman wrapped in a fine silk palla and a twelve-year-old boy in an embroidered tunic.

Varo’s arrogance instantly shattered into a cold, paralyzing terror.

"Livia? Marcus?" Varo gasped, his breath catching in his throat as his eyes widened in disbelief. He thrashed against the iron chains.

"What is this?! You monsters! They are civilians! They are my family!"

"I know who they are, Lucius," Dominic said softly. He pulled off his reading glasses, folded them neatly, and placed them beside his coffee thermos. He didn't look angry. He didn't look sinister. His face was entirely, horribly blank.

"Your wife, Livia. Your youngest son, Marcus. Our forward teams picked them up at your summer villa an hour ago while they were preparing to flee north."

"You... you cannot do this!" Varo screamed, his voice cracking as his son began to weep hysterically against his mother's side, terrified by the silent, faceless officer standing over them with an unmoving, mechanical posture.

"There are laws! Your coalition boasts of its justice! Its morals!"

"The coalition has laws, yes," Dominic replied, opening a small leather kit on the table to reveal a simple, clean pair of heavy mechanics' pliers and a small, sterile syringe.

"The military police have laws. The UN observers back in Italica have laws. But I don't work for the coalition civil affairs branch, Lucius. I work for the United States Government. And my job is to find our people and the people of our allies, even from a different time."

Dominic stood up casually, picked up a folding metal chair, and placed it directly next to the boy. He gestured for the officer to sit the weeping child down.

"No! No! Don't touch him!" Varo shrieked, the chains rattling violently as he threw his full weight forward.

"Leave them out of this! I am the one you want!"

Dominic ignored the senator entirely. He leaned down, offering the terrified twelve-year-old a small, plastic-wrapped ration bar from his pocket. The boy recoiled, sobbing into his mother's skirt.

"It's chocolate, kid. It's fine," Dominic said gently, placing the bar on the child's knee. He then turned his head slightly toward the officer behind the mother, and in full Falmartian Latin for the senator and his wife to hear. "If he doesn't start giving us locations in thirty seconds, start with the boy's fingers."

"You sick, godless barbarian!" Varo roared, tears of pure panic streaming down his face as he watched the massive, armored officer step forward and firmly pin his son's wrist to the stone table. "He is a child! He knows nothing of the war!"

Dominic checked his digital watch. "Twenty seconds."

"I don't have them! I swear by the Gods, I don't have them in my house!"

"Ten seconds," Dominic said, picking up his thermos and taking another small, calm sip. He wasn't watching Varo; he was looking at a digital map on his tablet.

"Stop! Stop! All right! All right! The deep vaults at the Appia quarry!" Varo screamed, his voice breaking into a ragged, pathetic sob as the officer's heavy gloved hand tightened on his son's small hand.

"They are at the Appia quarry! Thirty-four of them! My overseer has the keys! They are being kept alive for leverage against your advancing lines! I swear it! I swear it on my ancestors!"

Dominic held up his hand. The officer immediately released the boy's wrist and stepped back, returning to a rigid, silent stance.

Dominic pulled out his radio, pressed the push-to-talk button, and spoke clearly into the receiver. "Strike Team Alpha, this is Control. Target location confirmed: Appia Quarry, Grid 04-89. Deploy the breach teams and secure the hostages. Treat all guards as hostile."

A static crackle came through the speaker. "Copy that, Control. Alpha rolling out now."

Dominic set the radio back on the table. He stood up, adjusted his tie, and slipped his reading glasses back into his breast pocket. He picked up his manila folder and his coffee thermos.

Varo slumped in his chains, hyperventilating, his eyes fixed on his terrified, shaking family.

"You... you have what you want," the senator whispered, his voice stripped of all imperial pride. "Now let them go. Please."

Dominic stopped at the door. He turned around and looked at Varo with an expression of cold, utter indifference.

"My fellow officers will escort your family to the refugee processing center in Deabis. They'll be fed, clothed, and assigned to a civil integration camp," Dominic said smoothly.

"And me?" Varo choked out, looking up at the CIA officer.

Dominic unlocked the heavy oak door, revealing two armed JGSDF military police officers waiting in the corridor outside.

"You're being extradited to Tokyo," Dominic said, stepping out into the hallway. "Alnus Tokyo, to be exact. The families of the people you kept in dark holes for god knows how many years, but they are waiting to see what you look like in a prison suit."

The heavy oak door slammed shut, leaving the broken senator alone in the dim room with his weeping family and the silent, unyielding guards of the new world.

What if the Gate from the anime GATE: Jieitai opened in Mega-City One, from the Judge Dredd universe, instead of Ginza?

The Imperial Army of Sadera launches the same invasion as in the anime, but instead of facing the Japanese military, they find themselves confronting the Judges of Mega-City One.
