Subreddit Announcement 🧟 The Monthly Zombie Crawl - Spread the Infection
Welcome to the monthly r/Garmin Zombie Crawl!
The goal is simple: Help fellow Garmin users earn the rare Zombie Badge while meeting other members of the community and having some fun along the way.
What is the Zombie Badge?
The Zombie Badge is one of Garmin Connect's most unique and sought-after badges.
Unlike most badges, it spreads from user to user. To earn it, you must complete a user-created Garmin Connect challenge with someone who already has the Zombie Badge. Once completed, you'll earn the badge and be able to spread the infection to others.
How Do I Participate?
There are two easy ways to get involved:
Option 1: Join the Official r/Garmin Garmin Connect Group
Many members use the group to find others interested in challenges, discuss goals, and coordinate Zombie Badge events.
Option 2: Connect Directly with Other Members
You do not need to join the group to participate.
Simply comment below with:
- Your Garmin Connect username
- Whether you currently have the Zombie Badge
- The type of challenge you'd like to do (walking, running, cycling, steps, etc.)
Other members can then reach out and coordinate challenges directly.
Friendly or Competitive - Your Choice
The Zombie Crawl is intentionally flexible.
Some members enjoy friendly challenges and simply want to help others earn the badge.
Others prefer competitive challenges and like to see who can come out on top.
Both approaches are welcome.
Whether you're chasing a personal best, walking the dog, training for a marathon, or just collecting badges, everyone is encouraged to participate.
Community Rules
Free Participation Only
Participation in the Zombie Crawl must always be free.
No member may:
- Charge money
- Request donations
- Sell access to challenges
- Promote paid services
- Require purchases of any kind
This event exists solely to help Garmin users connect, have fun, and spread the Zombie Badge throughout the community.
Be Respectful
Remember that Garmin users come from all fitness levels and backgrounds.
A 5,000-step walking challenge can be just as meaningful as a marathon training block.
Encourage others, have fun, and help keep the infection spreading.
Helpful Resources
Garmin's official blog has a great overview of Garmin Connect badges, including the Zombie Badge:
https://www.garmin.com/en-US/blog/fitness/the-25-garmin-connect-badges-you-never-knew-you-needed/
Already Infected? 🧟
If you already have the Zombie Badge, consider helping newer members earn theirs.
The more infected users we have, the easier it becomes for future members to join the fun.
Now get out there and spread the infection.

Possible Technical Issue Change to sleep tracking?
My sleep scores are abruptly awful. I’ve always had decent sleep scores ranging between 70-90. The last week I’m struggling to get over 50. My body battery starts the day around 30 and is usually at 5 by the end of the day. But I wake up feeling fine and I feel fine throughout the day. My training readiness is also bouncing between detraining and strained depending on whether I have worked out or not. It just doesn’t make any sense.
My sleep scores, body battery, and trading readiness before this week reflected how I felt pretty accurately. I did download an update recently so I’m wondering if something has changed in the tracking? Or do I need to reach out to Garmin support?
I don’t need advice on improving the scores. My overall self care is great. I don’t feel they are accurate at all.

Accessories / Companion Device Should’ve got the titanium band earlier, it’s good 👌🏼
I have many bands, but the official titanium band definitely gives you this fresh feeling on your wrist. I know it’s not that good for GPS activities and considered to be heavy, but I did 60 mins on a treadmill with no problems whatsoever. Highly recommended while the stock still lasts. I have a feeling Garmin is discontinuing it because of the GPS signal interference.
Possible Technical Issue Forerunner55 with full battery shutting off in the middle of runs and bike rides.
I can't get it to turn back on until I get it plugged in to charge. It shows that it has a good charge. I keep it updated and connected to my phone. I've tried normal reboots and still no success. Thoughts?

Possible Technical Issue Always Getting Terrible Scores
Have the Venu 4, and have had it for about 4 months. I don’t drink, and sleep around 6.5-7 hours per day. I have never got my body battery above 40%, and my sleep is always poor or fair. It’s getting frustrating to see I should feel like crap every day. Anyone have any tips or useful ideas on how to assist this, other than stop wearing it during sleep?

Watch / Wearable Why is this happening?!
My girlfriend has been wearing her Garmin watch, and she recently noticed this red, itchy patch on her wrist right underneath where the watch sits.
It seems to have developed pretty recently, and we’re not sure what’s causing it. She has been wearing this watch for almost a year but only started about a couple months ago. We’re wondering if it’s a reaction to the silicone band, sweat getting trapped underneath, or something else. She also takes it off whenever she showers.
Has anyone else experienced something similar with their Garmin? If so, did you figure out what was causing it, and what helped clear it up?
I’ve attached a picture for reference. Any advice would be appreciated!

Strava / Zwift / 3rd Party Apps Which Virtual Platform pairs best with Garmin?
I used to do my indoor bike rides on Zwift but I recently switched to MyWoosh mainly because of the costs of Zwift. One of the big cons of MyWoosh is that I have manually import the activities to Garmin Connect. Zwift can be connected but it still doesn't update Training Status and Training Readiness for example. Or at least not for me.
So all in all which platform works the best combined with Garmin or which one would you advise if you also think about the costs? And lastly, what are the best settings or workarounds to get the best results for Training Status etc. whilst training on a virtual machine.
Btw. I use a Tacx Neo 2T and a Garmin Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar and a Garmin HRM-Pro Plus heartrate monitor. I don't have a cycling computer or powermeter (except the one in the Tacx) at the moment. Still thinking about getting a Garmin Edge.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Possible Technical Issue Weird Pace Fluctuations
Has anyone dealt with crazy pace fluctuations? My pace tracker was bouncing +/- 2min/mile every 10 seconds or so today. see picture (7mile run)
I’ve had my garmin watch for about a 6 months now… have put about 200 miles on it so far. Today went out for a 7miler on a trail I’ve been on before. It’s a riverside trail and not heavily wooded + no tall buildings surrounding me for the signal to bounce around on.

Garmin Coach / DSW / Training My 5k time improvement following thr Garmin Half Marathon training
I'm the only one in my friend group that runs, so I don't really have anyone else to share this with 😅
I started the plan 4 weeks ago.
It's working way better than I ever thought it would. I still have some complains, like not taking elevation gain into account when I go too slow on a paced run. I still try my best even if I'm gassed before the interval is over and just call it hard training lol. Same thing for zones because my neighborhood is hilly AF.
This might look slow, but my fastest 5k a year ago was 45 minutes! I'm stoked.

Watch / Wearable Idk what to get
Hi All,
I wanna try out a smartwatch for the first time with long battery life. I only do weightlifting and day-to-day walking as my activities, so no stuff like running, swimming etc. Still though, when I look online I always see that the foreRUNNER watchline is recommended for 'beginners' which always confuses me. Ive been looking around what I can get 2nd hand and im seeing the forerunner 165 for 150-170 euros, the 265 for 260-280 euros and a 965 for 270 euros. Im willing to pay 250-300, but idk if I need the 265/965 when the 165 might already suffice. What do those 2 bring that would benefit me, or is there even other recommendations that you guys think are more fit for what I need. I just want to see my steps, my sleep score, heart rate during training but everything else is somewhat extra ig? Thanks!

Which Watch To Get? What the FR170 has over thw I3S?
Hi everyone, after I reached my goal of running 5k, I decided to buy my first Garmin watch, but I'm not completely sure on which one may suit me better.
Because of my budget, the choice is limited to an instinct 3 solar or a Garmin forerunner 170, that are available to the same price ≈300€.
My main activity is running, but I also like hiking, btw I like rugged and solar watches too.
I already dig into the garmin comparison of the 2 products, but I'm not understanding what the forerunner 170 may have over the instinct 3 solar, in particular from a functionality pov.
Thank you for your help in advance.

Which Watch To Get? Can you help me decide which watch to purchase, please?
I have scanned the sub for similar questions and I’m familiar with the rules; I’ve given considerable thought before posting this.
The responses I’ve found are dated and don’t include the recent line up of watches now available.
Like many others, I’ve been using my Fenix 5s Plus and will likely do so until it can no longer function. However, that said, I have noticed that it’s just not enough for the distances I prefer to race often leaving me without the full details.
I have small wrists and am pretty clumsy and the one specific I’m worried about is the durability of the newer watches. It’s only recent my watch is beginning to show signs of wear and tear owing to the fantastic Stainless Steel/Sapphire Glass combination.
I’m either blind, or it’s my confirmation bias but I just can’t seem to find any other watch that matches this spec that is newer and can handle ultra distances.
So please, Garmin community, if you were me and you were looking to upgrade your watch- would you? And if so, which watch would you choose? (I wouldn’t say my budget is endless, but I would prefer not to spend no more than £850).
Thank you!

Which Watch To Get? Garmin Beginner Recommendations?
Hi!
I've been tracking my runs and steps more frequently now, and I want to see which watch to invest in, or even invest in a garmin to start with.
I did do some research and I'm seeing a lot of recommendations for forerunner 165 or vivoactive 5, but I'm wondering if I even need to make such an investment?
I run about 15~20 miles a week, maybe a 2 half marathons a year. I just want to keep track of the stuffs I do on my strava without carrying my phone everywhere.

Possible Technical Issue Venu 3 - no vibration in system apps (stopwatch, activity start/stop, timer end signal) but vibration works for phone notifications
Hello,
I have a Venu 3 and the vibration on it has recently stopped working in most apps where it used to work.
The watch still vibrates with phone notifications, so it's not a hardware issue.
I tried restarting the watch 2 times and it didn't change anything.
Is this a known isssue and is there a solution for this?
Thanks in advance
Aaron

Watch / Wearable Anyone else get red spots or skin irritation directly under their Garmin heart rate sensor? What fixed it?
Hey everyone!
I’ve been a longtime Garmin user, currently wearing a Tactix Delta, and I’ve been dealing with recurring small red spots directly underneath the optical heart rate sensor.
The spots are completely flat, don’t itch, burn, or hurt, and usually fade after removing the watch. Sometimes, though, the redness can take several days to disappear.
I believe I experienced something similar with my previous Tactix 7, but interestingly, I never had this issue with my Apple Watch.
I’ve recently started cleaning the back of my Garmin daily and after workouts, making sure everything is dry, and alternating wrists to give my skin a break.
I’m considering upgrading to a Tactix 8 or Fenix 9 Pro, but I’m hesitant because I don’t know whether the newer sensor designs or materials would make a difference.
For anyone who’s experienced something similar:
- Did regularly cleaning your watch solve the problem?
Did adjusting the fit or alternating wrists help?
Has anyone found that upgrading to a newer Garmin with an updated heart rate sensor or titanium back eliminated the irritation? I know Apple uses a ceramic back, which I suspect may be better for sensitive skin. I’ve been an Apple guy since 2006, but I genuinely love Garmin and would prefer to stick with it if I can find a solution.
Has anyone figured out whether it’s caused by pressure, trapped moisture, or sensitivity to the sensor materials?
I really prefer Garmin over Apple and would hate to switch back over something like this.
I’d appreciate hearing what actually worked for you!
I’ll attach a picture showing the redness for reference. FYI, the picture is about a day or so after the watch. It’s typically a much more pronounced looking spot than this, but this is leftover.
Thank you in advance!

Wellness & Training Metrics / Features What is happening to me?
My heart rate variability peaked on September 25 and has trended down steadily since. I'm trying to understand why.
Timeline:
- Late Sept: taper for a half marathon (green)
- Oct 3: race day (in the red the week leading up)
- A few days after: heart rate variability returned to my usual range, then started trending down
- Oct 8–12: weekend trip with a couple days of heavy drinking for a wedding. The downward trend started before the trip.
- Since then: overnight heart rate variability keeps dropping, with a consistent bedtime
Has anyone seen a delayed downward trend like this in their own data after a race? Any theories as to what is going on here?

Which Watch To Get? Forerunner 570 Size
Hi, I want to buy my first Garmin. I have an Apple Watch Series 8, and I already find it a bit too big.
I want to buy the Forerunner 570, but I'm undecided between the 42 mm and 47 mm versions. Which one would you recommend? I'm male and have a small wrist.
Thanks!!

CIRQA Cirqa as a complement to Enduro 3?
I followed the hype and announcement of Cirqa over past months, but did not see real value to it. I wear my enduro 3 24/7 and happy with it for tracking my general health and exercise. I now also aim to keep my weight stable after a significant weight loss and do track my kcal in/out as good as possible (connect+). So for the exercise and sleep part (maybe I could use it to avoid checking my watch at night?), I would see no benefit for the Cirqa. I’m wondering, however, if it tracks kcal consumption in lighter activities better (gardening, walking to the shop,…) where you typically do not start an activity for? Would be interested in the experience here and how this kcal consumption compares to the registration in the normal Garmin sportwatches.

Other / Humor Overnight stress after 37 pieces of sushi vs. a normal night
I follow a strict 1900-calorie diet since 6 months. Yesterday was the biggest cheat day since last month. My body didn’t know what to do with all that sushi. Sleep score in the gutter 🤣
Which Watch To Get? MIP vs Amoled. Which one to choose?
So I had a major leg injury and have been on rest/rehab for almost a year now. Finally getting back and want to get into fitness seriously this time. Right now I use an Apple Watch but the battery life sucks, have to charge it almost everyday and I want to move to Garmin.
I'm stuck between Enduro 4 and Fenix 9 Pro. I dont really need the smart features like calling or replying to notifications, honestly those things just irritate me on my Apple Watch. What I care about is battery life and having the best tracker possible, which is why Enduro is looking better to me.
My only doubt is the MIP display. I've never used one before so not sure if its good enough in daily use or if it has any issues (indoors, at night, looking at it casually etc). Should I go MIP or just get Amoled?
Would really like to hear from people who have used both, specially if you switched from Apple Watch. Thanks
