Guys this is a real story. Happened this morning.
I went out for a short run (6km) and just when I was about to finish a lady hit me with a car, throwing me 2m away, landing on my left side of the body. I have alight chest pain, my left MCL is torn, and quite bruised but otherwise ok.
Healthcare in the country that I live in is amazing (and free) so no worries about that.
The car has substantial damage considering my epic physique, but is insured (it was her fault, didn’t see me crossing the road on a crosswalk).
Now car can be repaired, body will heal, but I didn’t pause my run on my garmin. How can I undo that massive mistake?
Thanks
(Everything is 100% real story that happened this morning)
Just picked up a Fenix 8 Sapphire Solar (47mm) and paired it with a blue UltraFit nylon strap. Really liking the combination so far!
My wrist measures 160mm (6.3 inches) and is relatively flat.
There’s just something about the MIP display, titanium bezel, and lightweight nylon strap that makes this watch look and feel great.
I am looking to upgrade from my current Apple Watch which is very old, and am trying to decide between these two.
I have started to run regularly since about March of this year. I don't do super long distances yet and feel I'm far from doing half marathons and marathons. The furthest I've gone is 6.5 miles and that was just recently. I also weight lift during the week on top of my runs.
I've mostly used my Apple Watch for fitness tracking lately, and less of the smart watch features like responding to texts and stuff. I like to see notifications from my watch and don't know if one of those doesn't do that. When I could wear my apple watch longer, I liked the sleep tracking.
I've seen that the 5 buttons on a forerunner is nice to have. I live in the north so at a certain point I probably won't run outside much in winter where the buttons would be helpful compared to using the touchscreen more. The forerunner also looks more bulky compared to the Vivoactive and I like the slimmer look of the Vivoactive more.
The extra cost of the 570 is also tough when I'm a newer runner. Having some extra insights into my running and workouts might be nice but that might be overkill when I'm still early into running.
Does anyone have any experience using either of these or have made a smiilar decision as I'm trying to make?
Just got my venu 4 a few days ago and have been wearing it since. I noticed the wake on gesture doesn't work (even though it's on) and my HR accuracy when doing anything isn't accurate. Could this be a faulty watch? I got it specifically for its HR monitoring because I have POTS and need to keep an eye on my BPM and sleep.
It's snug on my wrist but it doesn't seem to be accurately reading my bpm still, especially when moving even doing routine activity.
So I have been consistently training for a half marathon in the next November and along the way I have two other races one is 5k and the other is 10k, and I am just following the plan, and today I have reached peaking but I don't what that supposed to mean physically like I don't feel this way I feel normal also I kinda feel pressured that I need to focus more to maintain this status, tbh I don't know how to express how I feel I am just kinda confused, what's your thoughts?
Would you wait for the venu 5 or forerunner 980 (if that's what they call the new FR). If it's a year away, I'll just buy, but I've read rumors about them possibly being released later this year or early February. Also, can you sway me on which watch to buy? I prefer buttons for convenience but don't necessarily need the maps. I am also hard on my stuff so wondering if the FR would hold up better against scratches. Thanks!
As it is something which effects half the population i wonder if there a way of measuring and compensating for that?
Or are other devices doing it and its just garmin?
Like my sleep is deeper during these periods i think and that is why it takes it as 100 even for body battery - even if i feel sleepy and tired because of other things.
I get that a tracker is not a medical device and we can't rely on it due to this... but periods is something which is recurring and effects everything?
Today at my marathon my HRM was reading very high heart rate data for the first two miles and then settled. During my warmup run it worked fine as it does for training runs. It did this last year in a big marathon where it worked during warmup then went crazy high for the first few miles of the race, then started working again. It has me thinking that maybe being packed into a corral with a thousand other people wearing HRMs might be a bit much for the old ANT standard to handle. Anyone else notice this or have any insight? Not cadence lock. Not dry electrodes. Thanks!
I have the Garmin forerunner 265 and the Daily suggested workout just doesnt show up in my morning report. I can only see it when I click on Training>Training> Daily workout. I have currently no coach activated or any Goal and Workout is activated under the morning report setting. What can I do so that the DSW does show up in the morning report or calendar
Not sure what I'm doing wrong as I've tried every fix online but Garmin coach just keeps recommending me to do my benchmark run everyday and will not populate different exercises. Any other suggestions for this? Also, if it helps, I'm using the venue X1
On Friday I (M49) ran 4x4 and I believe i was close to my maxHR when towards the end I reached 195bpm. On Sunday morning my Garmin adjust my maxHR from 196 to 194, although it saw my 195 two days ago. How is this possible?
Can I sleep with the Garmin HRM 600 paired with my vívoactive 6? I have pectus excavatum and an unusual position of my heart, which means my watch gives me very inaccurate heart rate readings during the night.
A few days ago, I woke up to find that my Garmin watch wasn't responding properly to the Start and Back buttons. After testing it, I noticed that the Start button only responds after being pressed repeatedly, while long presses of the other buttons don't seem to work at all. This makes it impossible to use certain functions, such as music controls and some settings.
What's strange is that all the buttons started working normally again for one evening, but when I woke up the next morning, the same issues had returned.
I've already tried force-restarting the watch and updating its software through Garmin Express, but the problem keeps coming back.
Has anyone experienced anything similar or found a fix? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I’m experiencing a recurring issue with my Garmin Fenix 7 Pro, and I’m trying to figure out whether it’s a firmware bug, a problem with imported GPX courses, or something wrong with my watch.
The problem:
Whenever I go hiking while following an imported GPX course (created on Komoot), my Fenix 7 Pro records significantly more distance than I’ve actually walked.
For example, during my latest hike, I walked the exact same route as a friend who was using a Fenix 7X Pro who was not using a course for the map.
Our results:
My Fenix 7 Pro: 8.19 km
Friend’s Fenix 7X Pro: 5.06 km
My elevation gain: 245 m
Friend’s elevation gain: 186 m
Elapsed time: Almost identical (around 4 hours)
We walked together, and the GPS tracks look nearly identical on Garmin Connect.
Here’s how I use courses:
Create a hiking route in Komoot.
Export the route as a GPX file.
Import the GPX into Garmin Connect.
Send the course to my Fenix 7 Pro.
Start the Hike activity.
Select Navigation → Courses → Do Course.
Follow the route while recording my hike.
What I’ve already checked:
GPS Only – problem occurs.
All Systems + Multi-Band – problem also occurs.
Lock on Road – always disabled.
Course routing – Follow Course.
Normal hiking without course navigation – distance records correctly.
The imported course itself has the expected distance (3.61 km in this example).
The problem has happened multiple times, not just during this hike.
What confuses me:
As far as I understand, the imported GPX should only be used for navigation. The watch should independently record my actual movement using GPS.
Even if the imported course contains incorrect coordinates or elevation data, it shouldn’t affect the distance recorded during the activity.
Interestingly, when I record an activity without following an imported course, the distance is accurate.
I’ve also exported the activity and course files, so I can share them if anyone wants to investigate.
My questions:
Has anyone experienced inflated distances specifically when following imported GPX courses on a Fenix 7 Pro?
Could Garmin’s course navigation interfere with the GPS positions or distance recorded during an activity?
Could importing GPX files from Komoot through Garmin Connect cause this?
Is there a known firmware issue or setting that could explain this behavior?
Should I consider a warranty replacement, or is this likely a software issue?
I’d appreciate any suggestions before sending the watch in for warranty repair.
Hi everyone,
I’m thinking about picking up the new 9 pro in black. I wanted to ask current owners how the bezel holds up against scratches.
Years ago, I owned the black Epix Gen 2 amoled, and the scratches on the dark doc coating were incredibly visible. Right now, I am wearing a light Fenix 8, which is doing okay (scratches are there, but they don't pop out as much).
I know that the Fenix 9 Pro upgraded to a full titanium build, and according to early feedback, the titanium quality is supposed to be higher. For those who have been rocking the dark 9pro for a few weeks: does it scratch as easily as the older Epix Gen 2? Do the scratches reveal bright, raw silver titanium underneath, or does the new finish hide daily wear and tear better?
Thanks for your help!
Just got myself a Garmin titanium band. Damn this thing is so comfortable.
Don’t even feel the difference in the weight of the watch.
Finally I have a dress up Garmin setup 🙌🏼
I bought a Garmin Bounce 2 for my daughter, hoping it would be a simple and reliable way to stay in touch with her.
I knew the battery life wasn't great - less than 2 days - but I was more or less OK with that, as long as the watch would let me contact my daughter and check her location when needed.
I also was OKish with the LTE subscription.
Unfortunately, the first watch was bad. LTE barely worked, and most of the time I couldn't connect to it at all. Location updates took around 2 minutes and weren't even remotely accurate. Messages arrived with huge delays, and there was no way to call my daughter.
I sent it back to Garmin under warranty, and they sent me a recertified replacement.
With replacement I’ve managed to get some cellular reception, but that's about it (it took lot of time to get it)
Still can't make a call.
Can't send a message.
Can't get an updated location.
All my tests were done outside, in an open area with no buildings nearby, so I would expect decent reception.
I'm a Garmin user myself and generally like their products, which makes this even more disappointing.
I'm really not expecting anything fancy from a kids' smartwatch. I can live with charging it every day or two, but being able to contact my daughter and check her location is the whole point of buying this watch.
At this stage, I'm starting to wonder whether the Bounce 2 is actually a finished product.
Is anyone having a good experience with the Bounce 2? Am I just incredibly unlucky with two devices in a row, or are others experiencing the same issues?
I'd genuinely love to hear from parents who have managed to get it working reliably, because I'm running out of patience with this thing.
Hello!
I used Strava yesterday during my run to help my family find me throughout the race. I also had my Garmin going as I usually do during runs. I ended my Strava tracking shortly after my Garmin (forgot to turn it off right at the finish) but otherwise, they tracked the same run. Strava was on my iPhone in my pack pocket. The difference between distance and elevation for these seems pretty dramatic to me. Based on how the course felt to me, I would guess Garmin was correct with distance and Strava with elevation.
Is this common? Is one typically more accurate than the other?
Currently, I have Garmin Instinct 2X Solar for about 2y. Bought it for hiking initially, but soon started trail running a lot and now I am using it mostly for trail running. So, my focus are GPS, Heart Rate sensor and battery life.
My biggest issue with Instinct is that, at least in my case, Heart Rate sensor is pretty bad, to the point were it can easily miss by up to 20 bpm!
Just this morning, I was running downhile with easy pace, where I could talk easily, and watch showed Heart Rate zone 4-5, when it should be comfortable zone 2. Like, it showed 165, but it should be 140.
I honestly don't know if its cadence lock or whatever, but it drives me crazy since I use Heart rate zones for my training Progress.
Now, I am interested in three questions:
Is Enduro 3 the best garmin watch for my usecase (hike and trail running) ?
Does Enduro 3 has a lot better Heart rate sensor than my current Instinct, and will it solve my issue with wrong HR?
Or, its best to buy HR Monitor if upgrading the watch wont solve my issues with HR?
After maybe ~5 years of continuous use, my watch's battery life has very suddenly dropped from ~2 week lifetime from full charge to only 1.5 days. Note: I never connected it to a phone, and 1.5 day discharge is just from it being on without any activity.
Perhaps this is the natural lifespan of a rechargeable battery. Has any of you also experienced a similar decay? Is repairing it feasible?
