UPDATE: October 20, 2026 - The Great Allegheny Passage trail between mile markers 87 and 89, near the Sheepskin Trail, will remain closed pending completion of an investigation.
Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) staff are working with stakeholders, geologists, and engineers to determine the cause of the incident.
The trail section will remain closed until the necessary excavation work is completed, technical crews have stabilized the area, and the trail is deemed safe for public use.
DCNR staff are also working with the Great Allegheny Passage Conservancy to help trail users safely detour around the closure.
Updates on the closure are also available on the Ohiopyle State Park website.
