Tiny Injured Kitten Needs a Chance to Heal

A tiny kitten, only two months old, is fighting to recover.

Last night, I shared the story of this little kitten who was injured and in pain. It breaks my heart to see such a tiny life suffering.

The kitten has received pain medication and must rest strictly while recovering. Right now, all I want is for this little one to heal and feel safe.

I rescue stray cats in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. I take them off the streets, find foster homes when possible, and try to give each one a chance at a better life. My dream is to build a shelter where abandoned and injured cats can receive the care and protection they desperately need.

Every little life matters, and even the smallest act of kindness can make a difference.

Thank you for caring about this little soul. ❤️

From the day I found them, when they were just one day old, to the little kittens they are today. ❤️

They were so tiny and fragile, completely dependent on care and love. Watching them grow has been such a beautiful journey. Every day, they became a little stronger, and every day reminded me why rescuing animals matters so much.

They were given a chance at life, and I’m grateful I could be there for them. 🐾

Marysia is missing part of her tail. Apparently the remaining fluff has been working overtime.

Look at that collar. That is a cat dressed for an event none of us were invited to.

This is Marysia, one of the cats at Khvostyky, our rescue cat café in Vinnytsia, Ukraine.

She’s missing part of her tail, but it doesn’t stop her enjoying life. And she has enough magnificent fur to make us feel underdressed in our own workplace.

The first photo looks like we’ve interrupted her on the way to the opera. Probably to ask something embarrassing, like whether she wants dinner.

We wanted you to meet her. She deserves an audience ❤️

More of Marysia and our other residents on Instagram, "@catcafe.me.rescue".

Advice on the benefits of moving a shy & timid 9 month old kitten

Hello, I've gotten a lot of help from this subreddit before with my foster kittens, so I am coming back to ask for your advice.

I am currently fostering a beautiful, black, 9-month-old timid kitten named Bunny. I first took her in when she was 8 weeks old, and was very fearful and spicy. After a month of working closely with her, I was able to turn her around, and she seemed to be adjusting well to home life.

We are a foster-based rescue but do work with a humane society that, from time to time, will take our kittens for adoption. They had an opening, so we sent Bunny. She did not do well in their kitten room and became very fearful and even more timid. After about three months, I convinced my rescue that we needed to pull her, and she came back home to me. She was really shut down, and it's taken her a couple of months to feel comfortable again. She finally left her safe room a few weeks ago and is now comfortable in all parts of the house, plus she is enjoying playing with my 2-year-old foster cat. Each week I see a new level of confidence in her. She hasn't warmed up to my husband but is slowly getting used to him. She is very affectionate with me and seeks me out for cuddles. She hides when someone new comes into our home, so she has a long way to go.

The issue is that now my rescue wants to move her to a house that has more activity and possibly children so she can be exposed and hopefully widen her opportunities for adoption. My house is very quiet.

I feel responsible for putting her in a situation where she didn't do well, so now I want to make sure moving her is the best thing for her. There hasn't been much interest in her, so of course I'd like to do whatever I can to get her adopted. I don't want to set her back again, especially when she's doing well.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of kitten and situation? Did moving it around help them become more socialized? If you know of any articles that talk specifically about moving timid kittens, that would be great too.

Thanks much.

tldr: 9-month-old timid kitten doing well in my quiet home, but rescue wants to move her to expose her to more things.

Foster a cat

I have recently end in a difficult housing situation that I am working on resolving but it seems to take me at least 3 months. I have my cat which I love but he is having such a difficult time with me moving from room to room and people don’t really want to have an all day meowing cat. Anyone know of a long term foster I can keep buying the food and cat litter. I wouldn’t want to surrender my cat but im up against the wall at this point. I’m close to Union City and North Bergen in NJ. Please any help!?

Found a kitten and didn't know where to start, so I built a free no-login tool that triages and tracks bottle babies (feedback welcome)

Hi all, longtime lurker. Not trying to spam, mods, if this isn't allowed please remove, no hard feelings.

The first time I found a kitten late at night, I froze-warm it? feed it? how much? Then came weeks of 3am feeds where I could never tell if it was eating enough, and did weight-gain math half asleep.

So I built a small browser tool for myself and cleaned it up to share, in case it helps anyone here. Free, no login, no account, everything saves on your own device.

It boils each feed down to three moves, warm first, feed belly-down, log it, and then:

Start triage: found a baby and don't know the age/what to do first? It walks you through step one.

Calculator: type the weight in grams → target mL per feed + how often, by stage.

One-tap feed log (mL + pee/poop) with a next-feed countdown, plus a weight trend chart. basically a log your vet will love.

Alerts when there's no weigh-in in 24h, no weight gain in 24h, or no poop in 48h.

Handles a whole litter separately, and has 60-second how-tos built in.

Link: https://rad-selkie-c51158.netlify.app/

I'm not a vet and this doesn't replace one, it just takes the mental load off tracking. I'd love feedback from people who do this more than I do: what's missing, what's wrong, what would help most at 3am. Thank you for what you all do for these babies. 🐾

pumpkin puree assistance - college students

Hello!

One of my fosters aren’t doing so good stool wise. (the one with the white nose)

I was wondering if anybody can help with my gift list and get him pumpkin?

These are not my personal kittens, I am fostering with Rescue a Fluffy Baby NJ, we are both low on donations and we are both college students trying to help these fur babies.

I added the pumpkin and extra wet food on the list. Anything helps, even sharing !

Funds are very low, I am able to buy the wet food and toys but it honestly takes a village. Lillian cares for more than 5+ cats and has asked me last minute to take on 2 and then another one showed up, and I simply couldn’t say no to a cute living animal, even if I have to scrape up pennie’s and ask for donations.
Lillian is currently trying to pay off a $60 vet bill for Beans (tuxedo) cause he ran a cold. So we’re both trying to gather up donations because they still need to be neutered before adoption so they’re going to be with me for several more weeks.

Here is my college verification: https://www.linkedin.com/in/vickmarrero . I do not mind sharing my tuition bill, just pm me please.

Thank you. My gift list is below.

Check out this Gift List I just created. https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/622J1TF7WMRQ?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_ggr-subnav-share_S34DH4FNNDERP5A2YVZ2&language=en-US

7.5 week old male kitten with inconsistent litter box use

Hi! I've posted here a few times about a stray mama and her 3 kittens we took in. The kittens were around 1 week when we found them and are now 7.5! All the kittens have homes to go to when they reach 12 weeks.

Mama and kittens stay in our spare room, with supervised play time in the rest of the apartment in the evenings. Mama uses the litter box and the female and other male kitten have been successfully going in the litter box as soon as they started self-eliminating. The other male is still not using the box consistently, he would poop and pee right next to it or in a different corner, we use paper pellets and low baking sheets. I've added boxes to the corners he likes. After some time he is now exclusively pooping in the box which is great, and he's peeing more in the box as well. However, he's still struggling to go pee 100% in the box. Sometimes he'll go in the box and hop back out to pee next to it. We try to put him in the box often and sometimes we'll get the timing just right and he'll go! We give lots of praise when that happens or when we see him in there on his own.

Is there anything more we can be doing to encourage his litter training? Is he just slow to get it or could there be something more happening? He's healthy, active, and happy just doing some rogue peeing. thanks for any tips!

Advice for a 2-week old kitten

Thumbnail gallery
163 Upvotes

So my sister and dad found this abandoned kitten all by himself, the left part of his face was covered in blood and we quickly took him to the vet and they took care of him for a few hours, he was only 72 grams and prob 1 day old(apparently he was bit by another cat but the wound fortunately closed) and from then on we started feeding and taking care of him for the past two weeks. He is 240 grams now and growing steadily even though he's smaller than an average kitten. However, I've recently seen a lot of criticism (especially on quora) to never try to take care of a newborn kitten and always get her to a no-kill shelter or a rescue or with a foster cat mom. I'm pretty conflicted, since my whole family wants to keep him but it'd be better for him if he would be with another litter and with a cat mom. Should i keep him or give him away? Any advice would be great.

Additional info :

His box is about 40 x 60 cm, is it big enough?

He always suckles even after he ate more than the reccomended amount and he has periods of constipation and loose stool/diarrhea (he had diarrhea only once for half a day, the bigger problem is constipation). I've seen advice reccomending giving him a dry bottle nipple to suckle, tried and he kept suckling for 10 minutes, is that bad?

Help with bottle recommendations

Post image

Hi everyone! I’ve got an approximately 2 week old kitten and need recommendations on bottles. Our current arrangement is a nipple from a PetAG bottle on a syringe, and unfortunately I can’t find anyone with stock of the Miracle Nipple to try that. Has anyone used this bottle or similar or has a recommendation for another kind they liked?
