Am I crazy or is there a flu b line? I had the flu on the 13th, but now have Covid.

So tested positive for flu b on the 11th. Boyfriend comes home with Covid. He never got flu but sure enough i tested positive yesterday, I have Covid, as I was turning a corner from the flu.

My boyfriend keeps insisting that what I got on the 11th was just what he has and that I wouldn’t be getting it because I gave it to him. But I tested this morning. He keeps making it seem like I shouldn’t be sick. And telling me “you don’t seem that sick” or, “you seem better”?? I just tested positive and I feel like garbage.

Flu A or am I imagining things?

Traveled cross country and went to two theme parks with my family. Got back last Thursday, spent the weekend adjusting back to our time zone (traveled from PST back to EST). Had severe fatigue, body aches and cough Tuesday, Wednesday and today. No fever. Was set to go on a girls trip with 5 other ladies in an air bnb where everyone is sharing a room. Took a test and … looks positive for flu A to me? Afraid I’m just being a baby and this is jet lag lasting a long time and I’m imagining the line 🫠

Question Day 6 fever

24 years old
Anyone else on Day 6 or later still experiencing a fever? 😩
I’m still getting a fever once a day, around 101.1°F.
My symptoms are fever, congestion, a sore throat that’s getting better, and fatigue. I feel much better than I did during the first two days, but the fever is still coming back.
Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

Thanks

What is this?

I am immunocompromised and work in tourism but I’ve been lucky not to contract many serious illnesses. During COVID I always tested negative and my symptoms when I get seasonal sicknesses usually clear up in less than a week.

It’s been over a week with me being sick for the first time this year and it started with the scratchy throat, fever, chills, GI discomfort, fatigue, dry coughing and sneezing. Now I have a middle ear infection, pink eye, bloody/green phlegm, kidney/flank pain and trouble breathing. Last night I coughed so much I went to bed at 11 and stayed up past 3 am because every minute or so I had to cough some more and was hacking and my throat felt like I needed to cough some more. I was supposed to wake up to go to work at 7 am and I had to call out again because I can’t do it and I don’t want to risk getting others sick (Apart from taking around 10000 steps daily at work which I don’t think I could’ve done). This has been absolute torture. I have no idea what to do at this point it’s like every day I wake up with a new hellish symptom and I can’t see the end of it. I’m up to date on all my shots, is this the flu? or is something else going around? Tested negative for COVID this time so I’m genuinely puzzled.

Question Day 16 of Upper Respiratory Tract Infection

My doctor told me that I have Upper Respiratory Infection. My symptoms are sore throat, fever (3 days only), runny nose, dry cough and little headache.
He prescribed me medicine and told me that it will take 3-4 weeks before my body can get recovered

I'm on day 16 of URI, I can say there's an improvement no fever, not much coughing but there are nights I can't sleep due to sore throat.
Lil sore throat, runny nose, and dry cough is still there but not that too severe.

I wanna ask people who suffered URI or has the same symptoms as lam, how many days or weeks did you get fully recovered? And did you also experience lil sore throat while recovering?
I'm anxious right now. I wanna hear your story.

TIA.

Can anyone relate to doubting whether you're still sick as you recover from a cold/flu?

At the tail end of a flu, when you feel much better suddenly, but are still kind of sick, does anyone else doubt if they're still actually sick? Sometimes I feel some guilt and question if I should still be resting or ordering takeout, vs getting up and getting back to my routines/being more active. And I feel like a lot of times symptoms will fluctuate from being worse to better throughout the day, which adds to the confusion. Can anyone relate to this?

On immunosuppressants and freaked out

Tested positive for influenza A today. I am feeling so nervous because this is the first time I've gotten really sick since starting immunosuppressants earlier this year (crohns). I'm so worried that this flu will progress into something worse
:( I have tamiflu and an inhaler, but I easily haven't been this sick since childhood. Only on day 3 ugh. I feel so horrendous and delirious like I'm not even a real person.

Day 8 of flu A

Bone crushing fatigue anyone? I thought I was getting better as my fever went away but I tried to go even sit in the car wash and I came home and tried to sleep but I’m so sore and have such horrible body fatigue it hurts. I’ve never had a flu like this in my life. I’m scared this will develop into like CFE or something.

Question Safe to be with?

I was around my family on Saturday for hours in close quarters. One of the kids had a fever at the time but without going into detail there was another reason we thought that he had that. Sunday two more of them came down with the flu. I am still feeling okay. Since I was already around them and exposed, is it safe for me to be back around them tomorrow? They are all on tamiflu for what will be 3 days tomorrow.

Question Is it normal for the back of your throat to stay lumpy after a bad Flu? Even if it’s been months?

Story in short: I got the Flu three times in a row last year. both Flu A and Flu B. I noticed that even after I got better the back of my throat never fully recovered and those side parts stayed perpetually inflamed. It didn’t hurt if I pressed my throat it just looked puffed up.

I also noticed that I coughed flem up more even when I wasn’t sick.

is this a normal long term side effect of the flu?

Question Upper respiratory virus

Anyone else in the UK struggling with this virus?

Mine started last Wednesday with a mild sore throat. By Friday evening I started feeling progressively worse, with a runny/blocked nose, cough, headaches and generally feeling rubbish.
Strangely, I didn’t develop a fever until yesterday evening (38.3°C), almost a week after my first symptoms.

My HR has been running high for me at rest in the 90’s (usually sits in the 50’s-60’s when laying down). This morning it reached 145 just from getting up to go to the loo 🫩. Took a while to come down so super panicked me!

Saw the GP today who has prescribed me delayed antibiotics if I keep getting fevers and feeling worse in a few days. Chest/lungs sounded clear. BP was a little low. Annoyingly I’m back to a temperature of 38 this evening. I don’t feel too terrible, just tired and bunged up.

What the hell is this weird long virus? 😩

Personal experience when will this end??

I was diagnosed with influenza A last week and I'm on day 9 of being sick. in the beginning was chills, cough, headache, lightheadedness, body ache. now I'm over the chills and aches but I have a cough with mucus that is making it terribly hard to breathe. like it feels like I'm constantly out of breath and can't get a full breath in my lungs. my doc prescribed a steroid to me which has helped but I can just tell this is going to go on for maybe a week longer... I haven't had Flu A (that I can remember) and I've never felt so sick in my life. 😞

Can you explain how bad the worst flu you ever had was?

This is by far the worst flu I’ve ever had in my entire life. Ive been fully bedridden unable to even shower or walk to the bathroom, haven’t slept one minute in 7 days now. Called ambulance and been to ER twice already. Feels like complete death and so traumatic. Fever, extreme body aches, chills, crippling weakness, chills, heart pounding racing, short of breath, sore throat, horrific cough and constant cough attacks that make your eyes water and almost vomit, severe pots, feels like glass in lungs… haven’t eaten in a week. Can’t even watch tv because the suffering is so extreme. D

How long are colds supposed to last?

I'm 35, 5'10 - 145lbs. I caught a cold (flu?) on tuesday that hit me pretty rapidly (sneezing, stuffy nose, feeling weak, fatigued and leaking boogs), tuesday night I had a fever and barely slept then woke up wednesday feeling a lot better and was cured by friday morning. Google says colds take at least a week to recover but somehow my body turned it around in 3 days.

The last time I got sick (last year) the same thing happened. Do I just have really good antibodies/immune system or wtf???

Question Severe vertigo after flu A

Has anyone else experienced severe vertigo weeks after having flu A? I tested positive for flu A September 20th. I had most of the typical symptoms- chest congestion, fever, body aches, nausea. Two weeks after that I was starting to feel better, and then experienced an episode of severe vertigo to the point that I thought I must have norovirus - hands shaking, vomiting and diarrhea for five hours. I went to urgent care and they gave me zofran, and I felt fine the next day. Today, two weeks after the first vertigo experience, it happened again. Hands shaking, extreme nausea, diarrhea but no vomiting this time. I took a zofran again right away to help with the nausea, but 6 hours later and I’m still experiencing vertigo. I’m going to call my doctor in the morning, but wondering if this is flu related? I had never experienced vertigo before up to this point.

Question Possible exposure to flu

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I’m a 69 year old Asian-American male. My 8 years old grandnephew, who lives with me, was just diagnosed with flu, a few hours ago. I just had my senior flu-shot 4 days ago. What precautions should I take? I last saw my nephew Friday (yesterday) morning before he went to school.
Fortunately, I wasn’t planning to return home until tomorrow afternoon, but maybe I should stay away longer.
I currently don’t feel ill, other than my normal everyday sinus allergies. I use generic Flonase and Loratadine.

Thanks.
