amazon's fire os updates made it notoriously difficult to replace the stock launcher: pm disable-user throws securityexception, and button-remapping apps (launcher manager, projectivy, wolf) rely on accessibility services that introduce a 1–2 second delay and get killed by background processes.

i wanted a true native 0 ms handover from power-on/cold boot without replacing recovery or flashing custom ROMs.

how it works:

1. in-memory kernel root: runs ghostlock (CVE-2024-43499) over adb wi-fi in ram no bootloader unlock or partition modification required.
2. direct package disablement: disables com.amazon.tv.launcher, com.amazon.tv.oobe, and telemetry/analytics daemons directly in android's package manager.
3. native home intent: cleanyourtv (minimal tv launcher) is bound directly to android.intent.category.home. hardware home presses resolve instantly with 0 ms delay.
4. settings bypass: fire os redirects settings calls to dummy compliance stubs (ctsdummysettingshandler) that silently exit; patched the launcher's intent routing to launch native fire os device and network activities.
5. completely reversible: because ghostlock resets on a cold boot, running the included restore script (./restore.sh <fire_tv_ip>) re-enables amazon's stock launcher at any time without factory resetting.

tested on fire tv stick lite / 3rd gen running fire os 7.

Went to get a fire stick for "reasons" 😏 and ended up buying the newer sticks that work on Vega OS and just wondering if anyone knows that the usual things be installed on it? Know downloader can't but wondering what the alternatives are , of course bought a old one to use but just out of curiosity

Would a streaming box be a better alternative to side load onto?

I have to specifically search spider noir TV series in order to get spider noir as my first result... that should not be the case.

I would find it acceptable if it was the second or third choice seeing as there are two Spider-Man movies with spider noir, but it was the 7th option.

Direct stream still shows up and many other source options. It even has my favorite list still saved. It just will not let me play anything anymore. The app just buffers endlessly after I select a link to play, even direct stream links. I currently have a 4k fire stick

Why does the new Fire stick 4K Wifi 6 always freeze. I have tried the 4K, the Plus and the Max and they all do the same thing. I wanted to get an older version of the 4K because I never had an issue with that one, but I can’t find one. Thank you for your time.
