So for context, before yesterday, "everything was golden" so to speak. No abnormalities like I'm experiencing right now, to the point where I'm not running Youtube on Firefox ever again.
Like many here, Youtube suddenly started hammering my PC resources yesterday, and again today, for no known reason. I did the investigative things people do to find out the "why" and it seems to come down to uBlock Origin. Again, before yesterday, Youtube had no problems with this.
I've taken other measures like modifying settings in the about:config and such, but only what has been recommended on a search. I'm not very familiar with that side of things. This treatment feels like it's done precisely jack.
So my disk usage starts going off the charts, and I'm still not sure where the data is being put on my system, only that my C:\ has used up an additional 14gb of space in one day for no known reason. The RAM usage goes up by about 20-25% but the CPU is being hammered, lagging the system out and being unresponsive in Youtube.
This has gotten so bad now that I've stopped using Youtube on Firefox (as mentioned) and only use it on Chrome instead. I use a similar ad blocker on there and there's no such issues, even though uBlock Origin isn't supported on Chrome.
Do we know why Youtube suddenly went totally batty yesterday on my system, and the possible cause (besides uBlock Origin)?
