I open-sourced Cosmic Payment – A cross-border payment gateway engine for Africa

• Upvotes

Hey everyone! I just open-sourced Cosmic Payment, a open-source cross-border payment gateway platform built in Node.js and TypeScript. It combines card processing (Stripe), automatic FX conversion, and payouts directly to major African mobile money wallets (M-Pesa, MTN MoMo, Airtel, Orange, Wave). Managing fragmented mobile money APIs and FX logic across different countries can be tough, so I built this modular engine to unify everything behind a single, clean API layer.

Check out the repository on GitHub:github.com/EmmanuelMunanka38/cosmic-payement-engine. It features multi-currency wallets, provider auto-detection via phone prefixes, optimistic locking, idempotent transactions, and a sandbox environment for easy local testing. I’d love to get feedback, stars , or contributions for new mobile money adapters!

Pre revenue and getting declined everywhere, founders here, what gets your vote as the best startup credit card?

So, this is something that has been bugging me for a while now and hopefully can put it to rest after this. I am a solo founder in the pre revenue stage with around 60k in the company account from a friends and family round. I've been denied for two bank business cards because the company has history and I don't want to personally guarantee credit for a company that might not exist next year. The irony is that the money is literally sitting right there in the account, lmao.

I ended up doing some digging and learned that there are newer cards available for startups funded by the money in your business account instead of your personal credit score with limits adjust based on your balance, and that is the setup I am looking for. I got to take a look and make a couple calls at some of them like ramp and others, but still felt like reaching out and asking others who might've gone through this before or are more knowledgable on this sort of thing than me, lol.

Thanks!

Job Opportunities

Hi everyone!

I’m currently based in Australia and looking to relocate for an opportunity working with a private family.

I’m well-travelled and have had the opportunity to experience different countries and cultures firsthand. Having visited the country as an adult, I completely fell in love with it and started thinking, why not combine working and living in a country I love? I’d love to take the next step in my career internationally while continuing to do work I’m genuinely passionate about.

I have 5+ years of experience across childcare, youth support, community services and leadership, alongside extensive private babysitting/ nanny experience. I hold a Bachelor of Human Services, majoring in Child, Youth and Family Practice and a Diploma of Community Services.

My background includes working as a Therapeutic Carer supporting children in Australia’s government care, including young people with complex trauma, special needs and behaviours of concern. I’ve also worked with private families, providing personalised childcare, managing daily routines, organising age-appropriate activities and helping create a safe, stable and nurturing home environment.

Alongside my childcare background, I currently work as a Team Leader in disability services, overseeing day-to-day house coordination and operations. My responsibilities include staff supervision, rostering, allocating workloads, coordinating household routines, managing budgets and expenses, supporting staff onboarding and training, maintaining documentation, preparing service agreements and contracts, and liaising with families and other professionals to ensure everything runs smoothly.

I’m organised, adaptable, discreet, proactive and comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and adapting to different environments. I understand the importance of confidentiality, professionalism and building trusting relationships with both children and parents.

I’m open to opportunities including:

* Personal/Family Assistant
* Private Nanny / Governess
* Travelling Nanny or Travelling PA
* Lifestyle Assistant or Family Office Support

✈️ Looking for international relocation
🌍 Interested in travelling roles
🤍 Open to full-time, live-in or live-out opportunities

Thank you! 🤍

most asked coding challenge at fintech companies

What are typical coding challenges asked by financial companies or startups?

I was asked once how to implement a transfer API and make sure there are no concurrency issues and make data consistent after a transaction is completed.

Another one is to generate test data (all possible combinations) to test a transaction engine.

What would you want in a personal finance app?

If you could design your ideal finance app, what features would you want beyond basic budgeting and expense tracking? Think automatic transaction categorisation, spending predictions, subscription tracking, AI assistance, or anything else.

I'm interested in real experiences, including features you've tried and found useless. What would make a finance app genuinely worth using for you?

CandleKit : Open-source drawing tools, indicators, replay & broker integration for TradingView Lightweight Charts

Post image
3 Upvotes

If you've built on TradingView Lightweight Charts before, you've probably noticed that chart rendering is only part of the stack. Features like drawing tools, indicators, replay systems, synchronized panes, and broker connectivity are usually left to the developer.

I kept rebuilding those pieces across projects, so I open-sourced the toolkit I've been using internally.

What's included

  • Drawing tools
  • SMA / EMA / RSI / MACD / Bollinger / Stochastic indicators
  • Custom indicator registry
  • Deterministic replay engine
  • Synced multi-pane charts
  • Broker integration support
  • Shift-drag measurement ruler

The goal is to provide the functionality many traders expect while still keeping Lightweight Charts as the rendering engine underneath.

Demo

https://rohanbeingsocial.github.io/candlekit-charts/workspace/

Looking for feedback on

  • Indicator architecture
  • Drawing tool UX
  • Replay workflow
  • Missing TradingView-style features
  • Broker integration requirements

How are finance teams currently reconciling stablecoin payments to invoices and ERP records?

I’m researching the operational gap between on-chain stablecoin activity and finance systems. Common issues I’m hearing include: matching a wallet transfer to the correct invoice, handling partial/overpayments, distinguishing internal transfers from customer payments, dealing with failed or delayed transactions, and producing an audit-ready trail for accounting.

If you work in payments, treasury, crypto compliance, or finance ops: what does your reconciliation workflow look like today, and where does it break most often?

URGENT — Looking for a Merchant Account for US Auto Parts Sales (Simple Setup Preferred)

Looking for a merchant account to accept payments from US customers for auto parts. Debit cards and Cash App are the priorities, with credit cards being a bonus.

We’re not registered as a business yet, so I’m specifically interested in providers that can work with unregistered businesses, where eligible. My priority is a straightforward setup with minimal initial paperwork, a clear fee structure, and a quick start. Ideally, I’d like to discuss the terms directly first rather than begin with a lengthy application process. Crypto settlements would be a plus.

If you offer a solution that genuinely fits these requirements, please DM me with the provider name, supported payment methods, setup requirements, and fees.

is eCommerce still Fintech?

My background has been mostly in fintech up to this point. When selecting positions to apply to, fintech companies are on the top of the list for me, but there is no much choice now. I'm currently interviewing for a software developer position at an e-commerce company. They have teams working on checkout, card processing, payments, delivery tracking, product catalog, etc, etc.

If I join checkout or payment processing team, is that still considered Fintech from a career perspective?

Career Change from Accounting to FinTech: Is My Background an Advantage?

I currently work as an accountant and I’m considering a career change into software development, ideally in FinTech.

Could my accounting experience give me a real advantage, or would I essentially be starting from scratch as a junior developer?

Are there actual junior roles that combine accounting and programming, or do FinTech companies mainly look for developers with strong technical skills? Which technologies would be worth learning, and how realistic is it to land my first job in today’s market?

I’d really appreciate honest opinions, especially from people working in FinTech.

Visa BASE II — How to identify chargeback outcomes after representment using TC/TCR records?

Hi everyone,

I'm a payment systems developer researching the technical chargeback lifecycle at the card-network clearing level, specifically Visa BASE II and Mastercard IPM.

I'm trying to understand how an acquirer can determine the outcome of a chargeback after submitting a representment.

For Visa, I'm investigating:

  • TC15 — Initial chargeback.
  • TC35 — Chargeback reversal.
  • TC33 — Dispute Financial Status Advice, particularly the VER record identifier and status codes F1, P1, L2, L3, R2, R3.
  • TC46 — Settlement reporting and related financial movements.

My main questions are:

  1. After a Visa representment, if the issuer accepts the response, is there a specific incoming BASE II TC/TCR that confirms the outcome?
  2. If the issuer disputes again and the case proceeds to pre-arbitration or arbitration, which incoming clearing records reflect the financial result?
  3. Can TC35 or TC33 financial movements reliably indicate a favorable or unfavorable outcome, or is a VROL decision required?
  4. In Mastercard Dual Message, is there an equivalent mechanism in IPM/GCMS, or must final case decisions be obtained through Mastercom?

I'm specifically looking for network-level technical behavior, not merchant-facing chargeback procedures.

Any references to official specifications, document sections, or practical experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Compliance teams know the agony of cross-referencing RBI, FIU-IND, and CERT-In circulars—where missing a single sub-clause or hidden tabular rule can trigger massive regulatory exposure. We built a compliance assistant that instantly cross-examines regulatory text to deliver unambiguous compliance verdicts, precise paragraph citations, and structured product tasks. It ensures you never miss a 6-hour incident window or a data rule. Designed specifically for legal teams and risk leads who want audit-ready certainty without wading through hundreds of pages of legal text. Curious how your team currently handles regulatory reviews?

ledger API for a transaction data store?

Are there any benefits to use a Ledger API vs building it in house using a DB (e.g.MySQL) We are considering of using it for a hackathon project. Will it simplify the implementation, or it will add an unnecessary dependency. Also, which one is the easiest to integrate with?
The idea is to build an MVP for a Treasury Management system using the APIs provided by the company. While the pluming should be implemented by external components to minimize the overall efforts.

Could virtual bank accounts make stablecoin onboarding easier?

I've been looking into how fintech apps can make it easier for users to get money into a stablecoin wallet and I'm wondering if virtual bank accounts are a better starting point than the usual crypto onramp. Instead of asking someone to buy USDC through an exchange or connect another wallet they could receive a normal bank transfer into a virtual account and have the funds credited to their stablecoin balance.

In my eyes that seems much easier for someone who's never used crypto before especially if they're getting paid by an employer or receiving transfers from clients who are still using regular banking. What I'm less sure about is how much complexity this actually removes since there's still the banking partner, conversion process, compliance requirements and reconciliation happening behind the scenes.

If there are any devs or anyone for that matter building something like this would you prioritize virtual accounts as the main funding method or still offer traditional crypto onramps alongside them?

Need help on SME Co-pilot

Hi there, I am currently working on a fintech project.

The product to build A cash reconstruction and financial review workspace for small businesses whose records span bank or wallet exports, dues lists and physical cash. It explains what is known, what is missing, and what must be verified before a payment decision can be supported

Some working professionals out there, can you spot a problem that we can fix?
It would be of a great honor.

Who should I contact at MFCentral about CAS API integration?

We're exploring CAS API integration for Passbook, a family finance app. Our users currently import their mutual fund holdings from CAMS statements, and we'd like to make that more seamless.

I've reached out to MFCentral support by email and followed up, but haven't heard back yet.

Has anyone here worked with their API or partnerships team? An introduction or a public business contact for the right person would help a lot. Thanks!
