OYD - Own Your Data
Register for one account, confirm your email.
OYD then creates accounts for you on any/all of our available services. for the MVP, you are able to choose from Friendica, Mastodon, and Lemmy accounts, all with the same username and password that you created on your OYD account. on the "Work" side the three MVP services you get are Nextcloud, Matrix, and an email address that is used for all your new account registrations by default. you have the option to forward a copy of your OYD emails to an existing email account you already have.
New users can also (eventually) choose from a library of around 20 "play" sites that they can choose to get accounts for: Friendica, Mastodon, Lemmy, Pixelfed, Loops, PeerTube, BookWyrm, Funkwhale, Forgejo, Immich, Jellyfin, FreshRSS, Paperless-ngx, Vaultwarden, Jitsi Meet, Penpot, HedgeDoc, Cal.com, and Audiobookshelf.
Planned additions for the "work" side of things, users get to (eventually) choose from: Nextcloud, Matrix, Mattermost, OpenProject, ERPNext, Invoice Ninja, BookStack, Metabase and Mautic.
And the crown jewel of all of this is OYD's configurable Superfeed, containing notifications and browsing/posting capability for all your apps in one single feed. Build a feed for work, and one for play. Connectors to allow notifications/posting from your other legacy tech bro social apps also, if you want to spoil the silence. And the ability to post to many networks with one single submit. MVP connects with bluesky, goal is to connect as much as is available: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Reddit, Snapchat, TikTok, X, Discord, YouTube, etc.
Free account is 5Gb storage across servers. Haven't decided if we will sell buckets of data, or allow users to connect to other buckets, very early in dev. one vision is making it available as a bootable thumb drive.
Important registration step: verify your identity with stripe. identity is not exposed, this verification is for the sole purpose of ensuring one person gets one OYD account, and that there is human accountability behind use of the system. Very interested in feedback on this point, i understand a lot of people won't agree with it. Everything is negotiable at this stage but the goal of OYD is twofold: to allow users to reclaim their online identities as well as be accountable to them.
goal here is for this to be run by a non-profit foundation, this is not a side project to generate income. it can be self-sufficient by selling data buckets, and there may turn out to be a real market for the "work" side, as a sort of business in a box option. also there's a moonshot idea anout users having the option to view highly targeted ads in their feed and earn income from that.
any feedback before i release an mvp?
