Press-Conference [Press Conference] Max Eberl and Aaron Danke giving Updates on Kompany. He is stable but further tests are required. He is expected to be out for weeks.

Max Eberl on Vincent Kompany's condition: "First of all, the good news is that he is stable. Obviously, it was a difficult moment for all of us. He collapsed on the pitch yesterday and is now in hospital, where he will remain for a few more days while they establish exactly what happened, carry out all the examinations, and check everything thoroughly. It just goes to show once again that football isn't the most important thing in life. The most important thing is your health. We're all sending Vini our best wishes for a speedy recovery. We, as Bayern Munich, stand together during a moment like this, because the most important thing is to identify the cause of what happened to Vinnie, ensure that he gets well, and give him the calm and time he needs to recover. He should only return when he feels fully fit again. And that will be our biggest task: to protect him, to a certain extent, even from himself."

Eberl on Kompany: "He had experienced some minor issues last week as well. He is now in hospital, and since yesterday evening, the doctors have naturally been focused on finding out what the problem is. The examinations are ongoing, and they have yielded some results, but further tests are needed to establish exactly what is wrong. Only then can they determine the appropriate treatment. I'm not a doctor, so I'm not going to draw any conclusions or make any assumptions. He is in the best possible hands, and that's the most important thing. What we can do in the meantime is support him emotionally, give him positive energy, and show him our love as he goes through this difficult phase."

Aaron Danks on Joshua Kimmich: "Kimmich is still spending time with his family, he's obviously going through a difficult period at the moment. So he'll take as long as he needs to with his family, and then he'll return to the team."

Eberl on whether Bayern could ask for tomorrow's game to be postponed like the second team's game today: "With the second team, it happened during their training session, so they experienced it firsthand. For the 17- and 18-year-old boys, it was quite something – many haven't had to experience anything negative like that yet. Sometimes things just happen. And the boys were a bit overwhelmed, that's only human. Thanks to Vilzing and the Bavarian Football Association for being able to say so quickly: let's postpone the game. There are more important things than football. As for our fans against Freiburg, we didn't consider canceling it. We've had the situation with Jamal, the dramatic event with Jo's dad, and now Vinnie. These things affect us as people. Everyone looks out for each other, that's what FC Bayern is all about: that everyone is there for everyone else. We're there for ourselves and for everyone else who's affected. That's Bayern Munich, it's what truly defines us, it strengthens us as a family, that we go through this together and are there for each other, that's the most important thing."

Should Bayern maybe have intervened earlier to stop Vincent Kompany from overworking himself?

Max Eberl: "Of course, people can try to find someone to blame, but the fact is that we protect our coach wherever we can. When a coach says, “I feel ready to do things,” we are not in a position to know exactly how he is feeling. We cannot simply say, “Okay, we’re not going to allow you to do that.” - We had already held him back for two days. The coaching staff kept him out for two days before the Arsenal game because we knew he had this virus. However, he had recovered well and felt fine. At that point, it becomes difficult to tell him, “You’re not allowed to do this.” - He has his own voice, of course, and the right to express himself. He wanted to be involved in the game, and everything seemed fine. He felt well. But now this has happened. Of course, there is also a certain degree of personal responsibility involved in recognising when to say, “I don't want to do this anymore. I can't carry on.” And I think Vinnie is such an outstanding personality and such an incredible worker that he tends to push himself beyond that point. Perhaps something has been lost in our society in this regard, but there are still people like him who simply say, “I want to get things done. I want to work.” - There is also a great saying: “If you don't listen to the quietest signals your body sends you, eventually your body will scream.” - And that's what has happened now, unfortunately, and we all have to respect that. I would also really appreciate it if we could give everyone involved some time at this stage. Of course, we will answer the questions we can, and we will do our best to shed light on what remains unclear, as far as possible. But this is not an easy situation for us either, and I would be very grateful if we could allow everyone the time they need. Vinnie will be given that time. We will also continue to make an even greater effort than before to protect him from himself, so to speak. But if we turn to the game tomorrow in Freiburg, I think the greatest joy for Vinnie would be for us to play well tomorrow and, ideally, get a positive result. That would probably be one of the best things we could do to help him recover."

Danks: "It's a difficult situation, we're only human. You can't predict a situation like this, but I've come to know how strong the boys are, how strong their winning mentality is. We've created a family unit over the years, and Vinnie's played a big part in that. We're relying on that now and obviously it will help us in this situation"

Danks on whether Vincent Kompany will be involved in the preparation for tomorrow's game: "We're going to try and avoid as many football communication with him as possible. I'll exchange messages with him on a care-friendly basis, but not so much a football basis. In terms of the game plan, in terms of the players and the team we'll do all that together as a staff, we've got René Marić with me as one of the assistants. René's tactical detail; his opposition analysis is really, really high level. And that's the way him and Vince work together, so we'll be using that and continuing that work moving forward. I promise you we're going to do our best to avoid as many football conversations with Vince as possible, just allowing him his time to recover, be with the family, get himself better, get himself healthy. We'll take care of the football for as long as we can, and we'll use the players to help us, use all the staff to help us. And we'll let Vince just focus on his family and his recovery"

Eberl on whether there's an estimation of when Kompany will be back: "Vinnie will be given all the time he needs. We're not starting to build any timeframes. We need to figure out what it is, and then we'll discuss what recovery time means. We won't be talking about days, but weeks. We all understand that. And we have such a fantastic coaching staff, with Vinnie at its head. But the success is based on an outstanding team behind the scenes. There's absolutely no thought of changing anything. All the guys who are here are outstanding – and therefore we can all approach the next few weeks in the spirit of Vinnie, which everyone has within them."

Bayern bosses reportedly critical of Karl both on and off the pitch - they are unhappy with his public image and believe he shares too much of his "glamour lifestyle" with his influencer girlfriend on social media. They want him to focus more on football, with Bischof seen as a positive example.

Message from Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern's last Ballon d'Or winner, ahead of Monday's ceremony

"On Monday, the football world will turn its attention to London. For the first time, the Ballon d’Or will be awarded there, in Harry Kane’s hometown of all places. He grew up in London, and it was there that his extraordinary career began. I was fortunate enough to win the Ballon d’Or twice myself, so I can perhaps imagine how much it would mean to Harry to receive the award in the very place where it all began for him…

If I am asked to explain why Harry Kane deserves the Ballon d’Or, the sporting facts naturally come first: 73 goals in 65 competitive appearances for FC Bayern and the England national team. For the second time in three seasons, Harry won the European Golden Shoe as the continent’s top goalscorer. With Bayern, he won the domestic double of the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal, while with England he reached third place at the World Cup - their best finish in sixty (!) years.

Absolutely extraordinary numbers. But they are only part of the story.

Harry Kane is a completely different footballer today from the one I remember from his time at Tottenham. Back then, you mainly found him in the box - today, he has transformed into a quarterback. How often do we see him in midfield, taking control of the game and picking out Michael Olise or Luis Díaz with a precise long pass? And then, moments later, he is throwing himself into a duel inside his own penalty area. Harry consistently puts his extraordinary abilities at the service of the team.

But what truly makes Harry Kane special to me lies beyond all the statistics.

The way football is perceived by the public has changed. Top players are no longer simply athletes; they are global personalities, advertising figures and “brands.” The media, social networks and, not least, the public itself are driving this development forward. Attention has become a currency of its own. And sometimes you get the impression that the way a player presents himself has become almost as important as his performance on the pitch.

Harry Kane is the antithesis of that. His performances and popularity have long made him a “global brand.” But he has no need to constantly portray himself as one. He does not need grand gestures to demonstrate greatness. He is polite, down-to-earth, free of airs and graces, and treats people as equals. The old saying, “You have to be eleven friends,” has lost none of its meaning with him.

Everyone I ask in my family or circle of friends loves Harry Kane. And it is not just because of his goals.

Despite all his success, he has retained a wonderful and refreshing sense of normality. He is hardworking, works for the team, knows where he came from and has his heart in the right place. People like him have become rare. Where do we still find them - in sport, in politics, in society?

Harry Kane shows that you can be one of the best players in the world without constantly putting yourself at the centre of attention. That you can be ambitious while still being a team player. And that true greatness does not consist of elevating yourself above others.

I have won the Ballon d’Or twice myself, and I know the significance this award carries. But I also know that there can be different opinions when it comes to a vote like this. That is part of football, and it has to be respected.

My personal decision, however, is clear. It has nothing to do with Harry Kane’s age, but with his performances and his personality. To me, the two go hand in hand.

In my eyes, Harry Kane is the best player of the past season. But above all, he is something that goes beyond a single season: a true role model.

And perhaps, in the end, that is the greatest accolade a footballer can receive." [@hannalein3,@tzmuenchen]

Question: The importance of the Ballon d'Or.

Hello all. Hope everybody had a good weekend.

I'm writing about the importance of the Ballon d'Or and what Harry Kane winning it would be worth to Bayern supporters. I spent some time in the city last week and chatted to some people, locals and visitors, and broadly got the sense that it would be nice — people wanted it for him — but that it was a bit of a secondary issue and, in true German fashion, the team always matters more than the individual.

I'm interested to hear from people within this community, though, because it encompasses a broader range. I won't quote anyone's responses, but how much does it matter to you?
