Day 3 of 7. Everyone is about to eat dinner, and I am so tempted to give in.

My inflammation is down, I feel great, lots of energy, but soo hungry. I am aiming for the mental benefits of a 7 day fast because I have been having all kinds of health problems that affect my brain. This is so hard. I can't decide whether I should keep going.

I have done this before a long time ago amd meals never affected me. Why is this happening??

First time fasting for more than 24 hrs!! I’ve only got 10 hours left on my first 72 hr fast!

I sort of did this on a whim since I realized I had accidentally fasted! It was easier once I learned about all the benefits of autophagy. I woke up nauseous and I feel a little lightheaded today but I’m nursing myself with some electrolytes and water and the nausea went away! 🥳 I feel great! I am going to keep chugging along choo-choo!!

I don’t like adf but it’s the “gold standard” for fat loss. I dread it. I am excited when I do my monthly 72 hour fast. Does anyone else feel this way?

I’m pleasantly surprised with myself today! I’ve been slowly loosing weight this year via CICO (28.5lbs) but have thrown in IF here and there to see how it worked. This week I said fuck it and committed to 5 days, and it was amazing! Overall got SO much done on my to-do list, felt a lot of mental clarity, stayed sober with no problems, etc. Felt a little fatigue here and there but I realized it was mostly because I dropped the ball on water/electrolytes and would immediately feel better once I had those. Overall lost 10.6lbs. No hunger pains at all. Planning on refeeding with some sauerkraut and miso broth, then 1-2 veg meals later today.

Edit: if it helps, during fasting I drank a min 60oz of water a day, occasionally drank hot tea, and took an electrolyte tablet (sodium/potassium/calcium/magnesium) + b12 + (optional) hair supplement

Longest fast, scared to eat.

I don’t really get credit for this fast, I definitely cheated. Had creamer in my coffee from time to time. A celebratory drink with a friend on day two (technically should have started over then). I was still feeling good at the 15 day mark (electrolyte supplements are a game changer) but worried about how long it will take to recover and have a vacation coming up. My longest fast before this was 9 days and had some mild digestive symptoms when I ate again but was otherwise fine.

I didn’t plan on such a long fast (pseudo-fast, since I cheated) but now I’m seeing all this stuff about refeeding syndrome and all the negative things you can find on the internet. So far I’ve had two half cups of bone broth a few hours apart and feeling okay. Guess I’m just looking for some reassurance or guidance? Don’t know anyone who has experience with fasting so any help is appreciated. Not sure if it’s relevant but I’m in a healthy weight range and generally athletic.

Also apologies for a boring topic that probably comes up here too often. Just really in my head right now.

Do you still take supplements while you fast? What about a salt fast?

Does anyone still take supplements while you fast. I take B12, B1, and Magnesium glycinate before bed. Would you still take it if you are fasting?

Has anyone done a water and salt fast? Not just water. Pretty bush adding salt to the water.

Started my period, motivation at 0

I've been super on track with doing IF these past couple weeks and even did my first extended fast!! But last night I caved on some ice cream at like midnight, wondered why, then woke up with my period.

I feel like absolute death and have 0 motivation, my head is killing me and I'm STARVING. its like a switch flipped and I just don't care right now. I've at least made sure what I do eat today is whole foods. (Eggs, chicken, apple w some peanut butter, nuts..)

I know I probably can't fast during the first couple days of my period because I get pretty intense cramps and need to take ibuprofen every ~6hrs to stay functional, but I don't want to use it as an excuse to fall off the wagon and stop entirely.

For my fellow period-havers, any tips?
