I almost got everything inside before the first Agent showed up. Said Agent is now stashed inside the spare hut in the first picture XD

Hey all.
Been working on some EG2 mod tools for... yeah a while. Its finally at a point where its good enough for public consumption. Currently waiting for nexus mods to approve the game/tools so for now its available on my github.
https://github.com/kotmfu/eg2modkitpublic/releases
Some highlights:
If you want to just do some minor tweaks, the installer is enough for you (it has quick tweaks built in), but if you want to do some cool shit with the game, the mod kit is available to change basically everything in the game.
This works by doing a technique called DLL hijacking, this is common but can false flag in windows defender. I have put in as much work as possible to make sure that doesnt happen, but if you get a positive (the detection usually ends in a !ML tag meaning it was caught using machine learning), you can run it through something else and see its safe (or not, I'm not your dad).
Note: The installer/kit only needs to be run when installing/changing mods. You can launch the game like normal from steam after.
EDIT: Now on nexus https://www.nexusmods.com/games/evilgenius2worlddomination

Just started another play-through of EG2, and I realized I'm really tired of the launcher popping up every time. Does anyone know if there's a way to just start the game in DX12 mode and not have to be annoyed with it each time?

I'm doing a challenge run: hard difficulty, no traps, no henchman abilities, no world map before objective 2, no multi-step construction (every room must be built with 1 blueprint).
This is my best design so far. Techniques:

Is there a way to keep forces of justice continuing to explore a segment of the base? They currently get interested in the trap maze I set at the start. They work their way through the labyrinth of slippery floor traps just to get sent back to the start via magnet + freeze ray + bumper combo. But after one round they get bored and go back to exploring the main casino until they find the primary entrance that the social minions use and get fixated on it until I wear out their morale by intercepting them
The staff entrance does not have anything generating suspicion, but they FOJ seem to gravitate to that path

I'm new to the game but like when I looked at the research tree I saw there was only 2 different types of ranged weapons pistols and "rifles" but the "rifles" are really just submachine guns and I mean looking at the tech tree it just seems like there really isn't many weapons for minions to equip?
I mean for me at least I know not everyone is a weapons enthuist like me. But I honestly would have really liked it if there were more weapons to play around with, but also maybe like more muscle minion types. But like grenades, shotguns, machine guns, molotovs, even if it's "boring" I think it would be OK. I mean Minions with riot shields and wearing police like attire, something like "security" minions that form shield walls, hitmen given sniper rifles and different types of hand guns I think could go a long way.
But honestly that's just me. Like for example in terms of pistols there could be a chance a regular worker minion spawns with a 38. Special revolver(extremely common in the 1960s) so lower level minions like Valets have concealable snub nose revolvers in 38. Special that they pull out during a fight while you're mercs can carry heavier pistols.
I dunno maybe too complex for this kind of game. But minions exhibiting behaviors such as throwing grenades around corners/into a room they know enemies are. Or shoot to suppress soldiers(which slows movement and reduces their accuracy/damage output)
But I mean, I don't know I'm regardless of my personal critiques or my like things that I would want to add into the game. I'm actually having quite a lot of fun and I haven't really had this much fun in a game in a long time. I just do think that there are like a lot of missing things that would have made the game like a lot better.

Grabbed the game on Steam recently out of nostalgia, and already put the widescreen fix in, that part works fine. But if I tab out or attempt to enter windowed-mode by hitting alt+enter, the game just crashes to desktop. Any way to fix this, or is this just a "yeah that's how it goes" situation?

With dialog being generified, dlc not involving the original voice actors at all, the jokes not really landing at times, ect.
I just feel like this game was gutted in some way, like there's a clamp around it's neck that prevented it from being better, and we are presented with the starved corpse of what could have been.

Why didn't Number 2 succeed Maximillian? She clearly had the knowledge to run her own operation. Is there any proof that Number 2 was trying to overthrow Max? Also, is she British because her accent sounds like that in the tutorial. There's not much known about Number 2 aside from the fact that she was entrusted by Max to run his operations while he was not present.

I tried to create a trap maze between my casino and my base, where the maze ends up in a security room with a desk full of guards as a way to keep enemies at bay, but the enemies wont even wander the maze, they get into a corridor, are asked to leave and then start killing all my valets and workers who are trying to reach the casino, im almost always forced to send IRIS as a security cam to summon my guards to finish the investigators off so the casino operations can resume.
now im wondering, what am i doing wrong? is there a way to lure enemies to one corridor and have some sort of "safe" door my valets can use so they wont keep running to their deaths? as it is right now the traps feel almost pointless, enemies wont wander deep enough into my base to let the traps make a difference, everything happens 10 meter away from the casino door. How am i supossed to lure my enemies away from my base so i can make my deception operations at the casino more relevant than just buying time until the inevitable door fight? i really wanted to have my deception as a first line of defense sending my enemies away without resolve, the maze as a second line and only then having to resort to brute force as a last option
if it makes any difference im playing with zalika at the "arch" map, the one where there is a "bridge" connecting both sides of your base

I need to do a collective 266 additional damage in my trap hallway and I don't know how to accomplish it. I've been keeping track of the agents that make it through my trap hall and 3 of them regularly survive with 66, 81, and 119 HP.
The only traps that seem to work 99% of the time are the Venus Spy Trap. Everything else is guaranteed to get disabled about 90% of the time.
While I could just make a long snaking corridor of VST, that's pretty boring. Occasionally I'll hit them with the magnet + shark pool, but even that seems to get disabled 50% of the time.
And what's up with the boxing glove? That thing *never* works. I've had agents walk right by one, then TURN AROUND and disable it after they've passed it.
So tell me all about your favorite or most successful trap combos. If anyone has a link to a trap guide, that would be great. I can't find one.

Can someone help me understand why there are decor objects like the water cooler (improves morale restore) in a room like the Archive (for restoring smarts), but there are NO decor items for the Archive that improve GODDAMN SMARTS RESTORE?!

The HG says it generates intel (but doesn't say how much) and adds 2 to broadcast strength, but its footprint is huge at a staggering 6x6.
The advanced radio repeater on the other hand adds 2 to broadcast strength and its footprint is a far more manageable 3x3.
The computer console generates intel (I'm assuming a small amount) and is a tiny 2x3.
Why would anyone use the hologlobe?
Why would anyone use

So I did all of Sir Daniel's missions and then chose to capture him. There was a cut scene that made it seem like I had recruited him, but he's not in my roster of henchmen. Someone posted about him wandering around their base until later in the game and making sure not to kill specific super agents, but that's a little confusing and I can't find him in my base or on the list of the 300 minions in my base. Maybe he's around and I just can't find him in a sea of bodies?

I started EG2 years ago and apparently didn't care to read or understand anything, so I'm redoing my base to maximize use of space and cut inefficiency.
I have 6 databanks. When I highlight them they simply say "unlocks research options." So I assume I only need 1 databank in my lair and having more does not speed up research.
Is that correct?
Are there any other objects like this I should not waste extra space on?

EG is my favourite game of all time, as is probably the same for many here.
I always assumed EG2 would be dogshit, didn't really give it a chance. I played about 6 hours of it the first day of release, and never touched it again.
Should I give this game another try? Will I get that joy the first game brought to all of us?

I've loved this franchise ever since I found out about it about 12 years ago If i remember correctly, when I first discovered it online I would watch YouTubers playthroughs of the first EG because I never came across a specific niche of game I was looking for and it just scratched that itch of being a megalomaniacal supervillian leader of a global crime organisation hell bent on world domination, not to mention it being inspired mainly from James bond which I grew up on.
With EG 2 ever since I got it from day one, every single playthough I have done, I have designed all my bases being UNIQUELY different, not one base looked the same from any of my playthroughs, just endless creativity of base-building ,managing day to day operations, dealing with agents etc, I'm addicted to it!
I know it's been some years now since EG2 has been released and I still play it to this day/daily, I just wished there was a sequel in the works because I just imagine the things they can add and improve on, the possibilities!
