Recommendations Non profit in need of furniture?

I have 2 couches in great condition I'd like to donate. I can seek out places (women's shelters, faith based outreach, etc) on my own individually. What I'm asking for here is, does anyone know of a place that has an immediate need? Someplace that you've heard through friends or volunteers that has said 'it'd be awesome if we had a couple couches. ' I can deliver them, just trying to save the time of cold calling places. Thanks!

Recommendations Everett salon for an updo? Needs to be open Saturdays..

Hello, I’m a Portlander who spends a lot of weekends in Everett. I’ll be attending a formal event there November 7th and need to find a salon (or independent hairdresser) who can do a simple updo (French twist? I’m really not picky—I just can’t do anything more complicated than a ponytail).
I’ve looked at a few places and no one is open on a Saturday.
Please give your recommendations/self promotion!

TIA.

Food 16Eleven still a good choice for dinner?

I put this at the tail end of an unrelated thread, I deleted that and am doing a separate thread. My wife and I will be in Everett for the fourth time from the Southeast next week to visit relatives and I got a dinner reservation at 16Eleven. However, I have noticed that their ratings on Yelp, etc., seem to have been slipping lately.

Is this still a good place to eat? Our “nice dinner” last time was at Anthony’s next to our hotel, Inn at Port Gardner, and it was excellent. We just were looking to try something else.

The main place we want to go is Net Shed but I don’t think it’s a nice sit-down dinner spot.

Fisherman Jack’s I know is near the hotel but my wife is doing Weight Watchers and dim sum has a lot of carbs LOL, basically looking for a nice date night place where she can get some grilled fish or chicken, I generally can find anything anywhere.

Recommendations Laundromats?

Hello from the Southeast again, returning to this sub 5 days ahead of my wife’s and my fourth trip to Everett to visit relatives. We know it’s not prime tourist season but we are going for our granddaughter’s birthday and all the weather models show that it should be decent while we’re there.

Y’all have given me good advice on hotels (we are staying at the Inn at Port Gardner again) and dining (got reservations at 16 Eleven), got kind of an off the wall question this time.

We are staying eight days and seven nights this time, we’re going to be there a while. Of course if our lottery ticket kicks in LOL we may stay permanently, we’ve grown to love the area and the people (who are legitimately warm and not phonily warm like so many are in this part of the country) so much.

We’re going to weigh our luggage before we get to the airport to make sure we aren’t overloaded, but if it appears that we’re going to have an issue packing sufficient clothing for that long a trip, we’re certainly not above washing and drying a load of clothes while there to get us through.

Unfortunately, laundry facilities are not one of the amenities the Inn at Port Gardner has. So, what laundromat facilities might be close by?

trying my luck, if you need a remote video editor or know someone who does, please feel free to message me. I’d be happy to share my portfolio

I edit using davinci resolve and have experience with different styles of editing, including fast-paced videos, motion blur effects, car edits, podcast editing, and short-form content

Right now, I have a main job, but my goal is to build video editing into full-time . I’m willing to put in the work, learn new styles, and build long-term relationships with clients.

Thanks for the comments! I checked the sign today, and it reads "SCHOOL SPEED LIMIT 20 WHEN CHILDREN ARE PRESENT OR WHEN FLASHING"

----

When I drive by Fairmount Elementary School on Beverly Park Road on a weekday after 4pm, I see the beacon flashing to go 20mph, but I’ve noticed several cars ignoring it and a few following it. So who is in the wrong?

Politics 38th District DINOs

Wild times, my friends. Posting in hopes of getting insight from my fellow 38th District peeps who know what's what with the 38th District Democrats. I'm a novice when it comes to these sorts of things, but I was surprised to learn that, apparently, per the https://no645.com/ website, the 38th District Democrats do not appear to be part of the No 645 coalition. Additionally, aside from Shaina Langley, all other Everett elected officials, in their absence of voicing "NO", appear to be in the Yes 645 camp. However, this may not be a surprise, given the city elected officials' stance on surveillance, homelessness, and other issues that prioritize monied interests. There are so many scary people making their way into leadership positions at the county (you know who I'm talking about - friggin' yikes) and local level (more comfortably complicit than actively evil - I think that is a Democrat motto), and I just want to better understand who keeps this dumpster fire burning and who's trying to put it out. Thanks in advance, fine people of Everett. Be kind and carry on.

EDIT: I have been corrected by a kind soul and now understand it is widely known that the 38th are in the "No" coalition. I'll take a look here, https://www.38thlddemocrats.com/, and here, Progressive Voters Guide, to find comfort in the 38th's capacity to make their positions known. I've got to get better at sourcing things. Sorry to make ado about nothing. I thought the group (https://no645.com) that drafted the "No" argument in the voters pamphlet was where the 38th would want their position posted. I have much to learn.

Rant Professional Lane Camper

Post image
208 Upvotes

Your company van merged onto the freeway, cut across traffic to the passing lane and camped there at 60mph. No attempt to pass or keep up with traffic. Other drivers were forced to pass him on the right and in the HOV lane.

A friendly reminder that the left lane is for passing not cruising :)

Rant These starlings keep pooping on my car

Yes, yes, I know. We have much bigger fish to fry here in Everett. But I'd like to gently point everyone's attention to the EXPLODING population of these invasive birds.

Each year, they just keep reproducing. They're like little flying rabbits! I swear their airborne gang now numbers at least 2, maybe 3 dozen (seriously, there's a lot of them).

These European Starlings damage more than just the exterior of my 2005 Civic. As you can imagine, they gorge themselves on all the worms and food that other birds rely on to survive. And they steal other birds' nests, often destroying the eggs and killing the young. Sad!

Not sure if the city would consider these birds a problem. And frankly, not sure I'd even encourage the city to spend resources on this. Instead, as an FYI to my friendly Everett neighbors - Starlings are classified as unprotected, predatory birds. So, we can take action. We can legally destroy nests, remove eggs, and trap starlings. But you cannot shoot them. Please... do not try to shoot them...

Sharing links below for anyone interested. Long live our native bird buddies!

Food New Starbucks Closed?

I drove by the recently renovated Starbucks (next to the QFC on Evergreen and 51st) and it looks closed? Was I mistaken that it was recently opened?

Edit: Per comments, it's open but just tough to tell from Evergreen.

Moving Mosaic Apartments: Good place to live?

Moving to Everett from Midwest. Like to have a place that is quiet as in do not hear my neighbors, no partying as in no loud music, smoke-free, with closed indoor parking. Looks like the below checks the boxes: https://www.everettmosaic.com/ Is it a good place to live? Google reviews are low sample size so don't know to trust it or not. anyone who lives here currently? Thanks for all the tips.

CITY OF EVERETT - Proposition No. 261

The amendment to Section 2.2 would require candidates for Mayor and City Council to have registered to vote in the City of Everett and resided in the City (and district if applicable) for at least one year before the deadline for filing for office; and would prohibit elected officials from holding other elected offices simultaneously. Finally, Section 4.10 would be amended to only require elected officials to take an official oath of office.

I feel like all the other props are fine, but what do you guys think about this one?

Help! Vets in Everett that handle dental?

Post image
31 Upvotes

The little goober of the household, Eggothy Thomas Valentine Noodlebert, seems to have a dark tooth with some inflamed gums around it. We'd like to find a reliable vet for him sooner rather than later, as we previously lost a cat from something that could have been easily prevented if we got him seen sooner.

Price isn't generally an issue; this dear is a precious angel and we'll do anything for him. We just want to make sure that we choose a reliable vet for him

Looking for help: iPhone 11 Pro battery replacement (kit included)

Hi neighbors — I have an iPhone 11 Pro whose battery health has dropped to

~84%. I already bought the iFixit battery replacement kit from Amazon, but

after watching the repair video, I'd rather not do the delicate part myself.

The phone is meant for my mom (70), so I want it done right. Is anyone here

experienced with iPhone battery swaps and willing to help install it? I live

in Mountlake Terrace and can drive to you with the phone + kit. Happy to

treat you to coffee as a thank-you!

If you've done this before and are comfortable with it, please DM me.

Thanks!
