Capital One Statement bal not updated on statement close date

• Upvotes

Current bal*

My discover migration happened on the 19th. I have have a cap one card cc so I didn’t need to set up an account. Prior to the migration my discover due date was the 20th & statement closed on the 23rd. After the migration my due date is now the 22nd of every month & statement still closes on the 23rd.
I used my discover card before the switch, but I paid what I used (+ more) on the 19th in the cap1 app. Wednesday I checked credit karma to see how my discover card would show up on there. My tu score dropped 36 points. Reason “discovercap1” account balance increased since oct17. Eq hadn’t updated. On there it showed my discover card would be reported on oct 23rd. Today my eq score dropped 27pts due to “discover by capital” account balance increase. So I’m guessing when the account migrated whatever my account looked like at the time got reported? I’m a bit confused tho esp since I made a payment on the 19th (also made an additional payment yesterday morning way before the cutoff time) & my statement close date is the 23rd. Ck showed my statement from the 23rd would b reported. Not sure if my current actual balance from the 23rd will not be reported at all this month due to the migration or if it’ll be updated in a few days. A little disappointed to see such a big drop esp since I’ve just paid off & closed 3 credit cards, so I’m expecting it to drop a little more (first account closure dropped it by 8 pts).

Basically I’m looking for a credit card identical to Discover with the same app layout like Discover. I hate the capital one app.

Capital One Wrong info with move to Capital One

Went to create and log into my new Capital One account and somehow they have my old legal name and a random mixture of addresses I haven’t lived at in years. I never had a Discover card under my old legal name as I changed it the day I turned 18 and Discover had my correct address. Anyone else having a similar issue?

Capital One Got approved for Discover it Card despite a charge off /collection from 2 years ago

Last night I checked the discover website pre-qualified page , to see if I was eligible for a discover it and despite having a charge off/collection with Discover a few years ago , I was approved for $500 and with a 560 credit score! I’m very shocked.

I am also rebuilding my credit , I do have 2 capital one cards, a $500 secured platinum and $300 quicksilver. Also a $300 limits with credit one, Merrick bank and mission lane, I do plan on having them for a few years until I can get better credit cards.

Capital One C1 promo bonus1500

I’ve a Discover savings account that’ll become a C1 account in November. I’m thinking of opening the C1 savings now to take advantage of the bonus. Will I still receive the bonus of my Discover merges in November? I will not fund the new C1 account with Discover funds but rather from another bank.

Capital One Product change to Capital One card?

I got an email today saying my Discover IT card is now being managed thru Capital One. I logged onto thr Discover website which then prompted me to log onto the Capital One website, and I see my Discover card there.

Then I called the number on my Discover card and eventually got transferred to another line managed by Cap One. I asked the customer service rep if I could convert to a Cap One card like VentureOne. He said not at this time and didn't have more info than that.

Anyone else have luck in converting to a Cap One card? Or have info about if/when a conversion would be possible in the future?

(For context, I haven't used my Discover card for a long time except the occasional charge to avoid account closure. It's my oldest card, so don't want to close it. Interested in a Cap One card to transfer points/miles to hotels/airlines that I earn from Cap One shopping offers. Due to a number of recent credit card sign-ups, I know I wouldn't get approved for a new Cap One card. Just trying to make my old Discover card useful again.)

Help 8 years with Discover, a 780 credit score, and my first dispute ended like this. I’m done with Discover.

Discover was my very first credit card, and I’ve been a customer for over 8 years. I’ve maintained a good credit score of around 780, always taken my credit seriously, and never had to file a dispute in all those years. Unfortunately, my first experience needing help from Discover has completely changed how I feel about the company.
Here’s what happened.

I made a purchase, but the package was delivered to the wrong address. The delivery photo provided in the tracking information clearly showed a house that wasn’t mine. I never received the package.

I contacted the merchant immediately and explained the situation. I even sent them a photo of my actual house to demonstrate that the delivery location in their photo was not my property. The merchant opened an investigation with the carrier and told me to wait 3–4 days.

A week went by, and I heard nothing.
When I contacted the merchant again, their attitude had completely changed. They basically told me they couldn’t help me and that I needed to contact my bank or file a police report. A police report over a package that was misdelivered? Seriously?

By this point, I had contacted the merchant more than seven times through phone calls, live chat, and email.

I even contacted the carrier directly. Guess what they told me? To wait another 3–4 days and then contact the shipper (the merchant) if I still hadn’t received my package.
At this point, everyone was sending me in circles, and nobody was taking responsibility. So I decided to file a dispute with Discover.

I submitted everything I could possibly gather as evidence, including 8–10 PDFs containing the delivery photo, a photo of my actual house, my communications with the merchant, chat transcripts, emails, and a detailed explanation of the entire situation.

A couple of days later, I received a notification from Discover saying that their initial review was in my favor. They had requested documentation from the merchant and issued a provisional credit to my account while the dispute was being investigated.

I thought, great! At least someone is finally looking into the situation.

Then things took a turn.

Just two days later, Discover notified me that the merchant had submitted documentation and that the charge was considered valid. They reversed the provisional credit. Within another 30 minutes, I received a notification that the dispute had been closed in the merchant’s favor.

The most frustrating part? I hadn’t even received or had a chance to review the merchant’s evidence.
Discover mails the dispute documents, which apparently take 3–5 business days to arrive. There was nothing available for me to review in my secure inbox, either. Yet the case was already closed before I could even see what the merchant had submitted or meaningfully respond to it.
I immediately called Discover and spoke with an account manager to explain everything. I asked what evidence the merchant had provided that was supposedly enough to overturn the dispute.

Her answer genuinely shocked me.

She told me the merchant had provided the carrier’s tracking information showing that the package was delivered.

That was apparently the evidence used to support the merchant’s side.

I couldn't believe it. Did anyone even review my supporting documents? My entire dispute was about MISDELIVERY. I never claimed the tracking number didn't exist or that the carrier hadn't marked the package as delivered. I was disputing the fact that the package was delivered to the wrong house!

I had literally submitted the delivery photo showing the location where the package was left, along with a photo of my actual house to demonstrate the discrepancy.
How is a tracking status saying “delivered” enough to resolve a dispute when the actual delivery location is the entire issue?

When I asked the account manager about this, she seemed completely unconcerned. She kept telling me to contact the merchant or the carrier to resolve the issue.

I explained that I had already done both. The carrier told me to contact the merchant, and the merchant told me to contact my bank or file a police report. That was exactly why I had turned to Discover in the first place!

Note: I even told merchant/shipped/discover customer service that they can send someone at my property and take a look at the address. They’ll know it doesn’t match the delivery photo.

It felt like she wasn't even listening to what I was saying. Instead of addressing my concerns about the evidence and the dispute decision, I was being sent right back to the same people who had already refused to help me.

After eight years as a customer, with a 780 credit score and no previous disputes, this is how Discover handled the first time I actually needed their help.

I'm not saying a customer should automatically win every dispute. I'm saying that when someone provides detailed documentation showing that an order may have been delivered to the wrong address, that evidence deserves to be properly considered—not dismissed simply because the tracking system says “delivered.”

And closing a dispute before the customer has even had a reasonable opportunity to review the merchant's evidence and respond to it makes the entire process feel incredibly unfair.

At that point, I was so frustrated that I told Discover to close my account. I've since ordered an American Express and Chase card, and honestly, I have no interest in continuing my relationship with Discover or Capital One after this experience.

Eight years of loyalty meant absolutely nothing when I needed them to take a closer look at a legitimate problem.

I never expected special treatment. I expected my evidence to be reviewed, my concerns to be heard, and a fair opportunity to challenge a decision that went against me.
Instead, I spent hours trying to resolve an issue that nobody seemed willing to take responsibility for.

I'm done with Discover.

I’m now filing a complaint with the CFPB and hope they’ll thoroughly review the evidence and handle this matter fairly, since Discover clearly hasn’t given my concerns the attention they deserve.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with a delivery dispute? And is there any way to challenge a decision like this when the bank closes the case before you even receive the merchant's documentation?

Help Discover charges getting rejected now

I've been paying this bill online using my Discover card every month for about a decade. The biller has the CC details, and I pretty much just click "Pay Bill." No muss, no fuss--immediately gets marked as paid.

Now, with Capital One running the show... I do the same thing I've been doing and get... Sorry, we could not process your payment. I check on the Capital One site: pending (which I'd assume is normal). There are other pending charges for autopay stuff that I don't know the status of yet from the biller.

So, I have to assume that Capital One is breaking things somehow because Discover never had any problem processing my perfectly normal online charges and the billers never had any problem with Discover not processing the charges as "paid" (from the biller's perspective).

Is anyone else having problems simply using their "Discover Card" (by Capital One) to just charge stuff in the most basic of ways that a CC is used?

Capital One Will charge take time to show up?

Hi! I’m having a bit of an issue, I used my discover card through Apple Pay on wednesday morning and the charge eventually cleared. However, I don’t see it on my capital one app yet, will it take a couple of days to show? I recently migrated to capital one and can no longer access my old discover account. I didn’t know I had to remove my discover card and add it back with capital one so I think the purchase went through on the discover network. I’m just worried about the charge going missing that’s all.

Update: Charge finally shows today as pending

I recently got the discover student card and it's my first credit card and there are some things I don't understand and would love if someone could walk me through it.

Why is my current balance so high? I believe that number is everything I have spent on this card. (So far I have made two payments paying off what i've spent, next two screenshots) But is this number not supposed to be still needs to be paid for?

All that I haven't paid for is the $136, the last screenshot. Shouldn't that be the "current balance number" ? Am I doing something wrong?

And this is gonna sound really stupid, but what will happen when the "available credit" runs out? I'm assuming I won't be able to spend any more on my card but when will it come back?

I've paid everything on time but I'm worried I've somehow misunderstood and I'm not actually paying for it and messing up my credit, any help appreciated!!

Capital One Account Credit, Capital One Credit Card

I tried the r/CapitalOne, but I'm a little to stressed for it right now, I figured other transfered people can help me figure it out?

I understand, when I went to make a payment, I couldn't use my cashback rewards on it, I get that. But apparently there is a way of sorts? I called Capital One, and a lady helped me add it, but she couldn't explain to me how to do it myself online, which is what I like to do periodically. I'm okay if it's not like Discovers (I liked discovers, but I can understand that)

She did tell me that I can add Cash Back Rewards into my Account Credit, which, I can't find. Like, the option doesn't exist at all?

Is this a me thing? Something go messy in the transfer?

Discussion What are some alternatives to Discover (rest in peace)?

I am not enjoying the Capital One features. I liked the Discover credit card for its clean app interface and ease of use. 26F with good financial habits, credit score 790. What are my options? For context, I use my credit card for paying my phone bill and the occasional flight or night out. I mostly maintain it for the social obligation of having a credit score. What are some low effort, easy to use, non-invasive Discover alternatives? I hate that I can't turn off some notifications on the Capital One app, ugh. Please help!

Capital One DC disappeared from C1 app?

Yesterday I successfully merged my DC and C1 accounts. My discover card was showing up when logging into my C1 account. I got an email yesterday from C1 about the merge being successful.
Today when I log into my C1 account my DC card is no longer showing up. When I click set up online access it says all my accounts have already been successfully merged. I noticed it this morning and waited a while assuming it was possibly a glitch but it still hasn’t shown back up. Has this happened to anyone else?

Edit: so I figured it out without having to call customer service (thankfully). My C1 card shows when I sign into the C1 app with my C1 login credentials. My DC shows up on the C1 app when I sign into the C1 app with my DC login credentials. So the cards are on two different accounts. I’m not sure why because all the information including the email address was the same. Only difference was the usernames and passwords. Not sure why it did this or if I want to/should go through the headache of trying to merge the accounts with customer service. But if you can’t find your DC try logging into C1 using the DC credentials to see if you have two C1 accounts now.

I haven’t seen anyone else talk about this feature, but it was my FAVORITE feature that Discover offered. It helped me out tremendously when budgeting. Does anyone know if C1 offers something comparable? Any suggestions?

Every international student who comes to the US usually has no credit history so they almost always get a Discover card. Being African, I especially loved the African continent design. I checked in the new Capital One app and it's gone :-/

I guess this is my ride or die until it's completely done for

Discussion Capital One should really allow Discover cardholders to upgrade to Capital One cards

Now that Discover cards are being migrated over to Capital One, I feel like this is something we should be talking about more.

I've had my Discover card for years, and honestly, I barely use it anymore. It's one of my older credit accounts, so I don't want to close it, but at the same time, I don't see much reason to keep using it when there are better cards out there.

With the Capital One merger, I was actually hoping we'd finally have the option to product change our Discover cards to something like the Savor or Venture, while keeping our existing account history. But apparently, that's still not an option. And yes, I know I can just apply for a new Capital One card, but that's not the point. Why open another credit account when I already have a perfectly good one that I'd be happy to start using again if it offered better rewards?

I can't be the only one in this situation. I'm sure there are plenty of people who have held onto their Discover cards for years mainly because of their account age. I really think we should start bringing this up with Capital One. If enough of us reach out to customer service, submit feedback, and ask for product change options, maybe they'll actually consider making this a priority.

I'm not expecting every Discover card to be eligible for every Capital One product, but at least give us some options.

Anyone else feel the same way? Have any of you contacted Capital One about this? Curious what they've been telling people and whether anyone has heard about plans to allow this in the future.

Discussion Question about available credit.

I have both a Discover card and C1 card. They both have pretty high credit limits ($20K) and are my largest available credit cards. Both currently have $0 balace.

I am worried they are just going to close one in the merge and my debt to avaliable credit will take a massive hit.

Anyone know what they do in this situation?

Thanks.

Feedback Positive Thing About Capital One

I’ve noticed most of the posts are negative about the switch, but one thing I wanted to call out as a positive compared to my old Discover It card that I’ve noticed is that my cash back is now available once a purchase is final and moved from pending. I used to have to wait each month after my statement for it to update but now it’s always updating.
