Meta Seeking feedback from the community
Almost 20k members, damn this subreddit took off.
Back when I had joined, there weren't even 10k members.
Anyways, I want the community's input on whether we should allow asking programming questions on this subreddit.
I know ChatGPT, StackOverflow and other forums exist, and the subreddit's name doesn't give that kind of vibe, but I still want the community's input.
Let me know.

Can I switch from TCS to a product-based company offering 16+ LPA with around 1 YOE? Need genuine advice.
Hi everyone,
I'm currently working at TCS as a Systems Engineer, with close to 1 year of experience. I'm planning to switch to a good product-based company, targeting a package of around 16 LPA or higher, preferably in an SDE 1 or Backend Developer role.
My current tech stack:
Python, Java, SQL, Springboot, Hibernate,MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, FastAPI, Django, LangChain, LangGraph, RAG, Agentic AI, AWS, Git, GitHub, Docker, basic system design
I have experience working on backend and GenAI-related projects, including API development, database integration, authentication, and AI workflows.
I'm currently strengthening my DSA, problem-solving, Python, SQL, and backend development skills to prepare for product-company interviews.
I'm fairly confident in my development skills, especially when it comes to building APIs and implementing backend functionality. However, I lack hands-on experience with scaling applications, ensuring fault tolerance, and handling production-level challenges, as I haven't worked in a production environment yet. My biggest weakness right now is DSA, and that's the area I need to improve the most.
I have a few questions for people who've made a similar switch:
Is targeting 16+ LPA realistic with around 1 YOE, especially when switching from a service-based company?
Which product-based companies should I target with my experience and skill set?
How difficult would it be to crack SDE 1 roles at companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Walmart, Adobe, or similar companies?
Should I focus more on DSA or backend development and system design?
Does my experience at TCS put me at any disadvantage compared to candidates already working in product-based companies?
Would really appreciate genuine advice from people who have successfully transitioned from service-based to product-based companies.
Thanks in advance!

have a offer in hand at fractal analytics, and have got almost a year in buffer before joining
i am wondering how do i spend this time, should i learn new technologies, get better at dsa or learn cloud/data engineering concepts? i have been reading sw is doomed posts everyday and i am wondering will i even get to join, i mean in a year, even more advanced models will come out. would it be better if i started preparing for gov exams in the meantime like ssc cgl? or maybe gate? so i can atleast go somewhere if my offer gets revoked

2nd year ECE student from a tier 69 college — what are the actual steps to get an internship by the end of 2026?
Hey guys, I’m currently in 2nd year, 3rd semester, from a tier 69 💀 college. I’m from ECE and honestly have only a little knowledge of CS/software stuff right now. Currently I’m doing: DSA: Striver’s A2Z/DSA Sheet Development: FreeCodeCamp Trying to build up my CS fundamentals alongside this My goal is to somehow land a software/AI internship by the end of 2026, preferably at a FAANG/FANG company or at least a decent MNC/product-based company. But I’m honestly confused about what I’m actually supposed to do beyond DSA + development. Like, what does the actual roadmap look like? Should I be doing: DSA → how much is enough? CS fundamentals → OS, DBMS, CN, OOP? Development → frontend/backend/full stack? 2–3 serious projects? Open source? Hackathons? LeetCode contests? Networking/referrals? Research? Internships at smaller companies first? Anything else? And when should I start applying? Should I already be applying in 2nd year, or wait until I have more skills? I’m not looking for a “learn DSA and make projects bro” answer 😭. I want to know the actual steps people took to go from basically knowing very little → getting interviews → actually landing a Big Tech/MNC internship. If you were in my position right now, what would you do from September 2026 to December 2026? Any brutally honest advice would be appreciated. Mannn I just want to know what I’m supposed to do 😭

Help me figure out between HPE Juniper and Mobileum
Hi everyone, need some advice choosing between two offers:

\* HPE Juniper, Bangalore: ₹27 LPA CTC + 11% target bonus + ₹5 lakh joining bonus; Software Engineer II in the Packet Forwarding Engine (routing/switching).
I have 4 years of C++ experience in telecom (OTN/DWDM).
I am currently residing in Gurgaon . Is HPE Juniper worth relocating to Bangalore for, or would you choose Mobileum?

Regarding switch from big tech to start-ups
Im an 25 tier1 grad
I worked in 2 firms (SDE)
Firm 1 (big tech)- 6months ( 28 annual) boring ass work, not much growth options
Firm 2 ( faang lvl big texh)- 1y now (38 annual, 66ctc, almost remote)
Intially liked the work and scale , but now its again boring java and legacy work. Thinking to bounce from here again
Im not liking the culture its ultra slow paced old tech stacks though the work load is less
I am planning to switch to US remote startups or, well funded indian startups or midium sized firms for exposure and newer tech exposure
Would appreciate guidance and paths
Also do suggest company names which can pay> 40 annual take home ( incl base + stocks or bonus only) at 1.5 -2 yoe.

Little help for this 2026 grad
Hello,

What to do now? Is it over?
I have done DSA 230 questions on Leetcode in C++. All topics from striver A2Z sheet except Trees, Graphs, DP, Greedy.
I just know HTML, CSS, JS and how to write CRUD apps using Node, Mongo. Don't really know React (Used AI for Frontend).
Have one project of Complaint Management System made based on the problems of our Tier-∞ college.
I know basic ML and DL concepts and algo.
Have no internship experience.
I am a 2027 graduate i.e. i am a final year student in BTech CSE(AIML).
Just know basic core subjects knowledge (I've forgotten)
All of the above is far more inferior than the worst LLM model.
Only one valid company came to our college until now which is TCS. I also fumbled in the OA but still was selected for interview. Selection in interview was totally luck based. So i was not selected.
What should I do?? Family condition is kind of bad which is why i cant do Masters or whatever.
In which direction should i study? Right now everything i can know is also known by AI. So why would a company hire me. Its not like i am from a good tier college or whatever. I kind of regretting my decision to study CS.
Please help me guys

Bengaluru | Looking for my first full-time tech role — I have 300+ DSA problems, a CodeVita Global Rank 172, and projects I'm genuinely proud of.
drive.google.comHey everyone 👋
I'm a recent CSE graduate in Bengaluru, currently looking for my first full-time opportunity in AI/ML Engineering, Python Development, or Backend Engineering.
I've spent a lot of time trying to become someone a team can actually rely on, not just someone who adds technologies to a resume.
A few things I've worked hard for:
🏆 TCS CodeVita Season 13 — Global Rank 172
💻 Solved 300+ DSA problems across LeetCode, CodeChef, and HackerRank.
🤖 Built RepoRAG, an AI-powered code intelligence system that indexes GitHub repositories and answers code-related questions using RAG, Gemini embeddings, Pinecone, FastAPI, and Llama 3. The project also received recognition from the Pinecone team and the official Render team.
⚛️ Led a six-member team on a quantum fleet-optimization project that won at the zonal level of the Amaravati Quantum Valley Hackathon and advanced to the state level.
I'm also getting hands-on experience with AI/ML workflows, including data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
Now comes the part where I need this community's help.
I'm looking for an opportunity where I can contribute, learn from experienced engineers, and prove myself through real work. I'm open to fresher and junior roles, internships that can lead to full-time opportunities, and teams willing to give a motivated early-career engineer a chance.
If you're hiring in Bengaluru, know a team looking for someone with my skills, or can refer me to a suitable opening, I'd genuinely appreciate it.
Even if there's no opening right now, a suggestion on which companies or teams I should approach would help me a lot.

I'm happy to share project details, walk through my code, or complete a relevant technical assessment.
Thanks for reading this far. If you know someone hiring, please tag them or point me in the right direction. One conversation can make a real difference at the start of a career.
Let's see if Reddit can help me find the right team. 🙌

Applied for GATE DA at 29, is it really worth it?
Let me set the context, I have around 8 years of experience as a senior data scientist. I have my bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from a Tier 2 college. For most of my career, I've been working remotely, and was in R&D, at my last company. I've built data pipelines, ML architectures and was part of the company which adopted ML systems when gpt hit mainstream, allowing me to build multi classifier systems with GraphRAG, Agents, etc. I've worked in both data engineering and data science.
But lately I feel there is a lot of technical debt that I have owed over the years. So my background in mechanical meant, I missed out on a lot of core subjects in CS. My work has been hands on, and my knowledge is in bits and pieces and not the full picture, with the kind of work pressure at my current firm, I hardly have time to upskill or close those gaps. I feel extremely burnt out most of the days.
I am currently making around 35 LPA. I want to take a career break, and am preparing for gate 2027, which is a trial run, and aiming to crack at 2028 gate. Is this a right move, I also do to teach at couple of universities, so I'd be able to make a side income without a full time job, and my wife works as well. But this would be a big step.
I want people to give your genuine advice. My target is to get into core gpu systems programming. So would be aiming to do optimisations for ML models on the lowest level possible. I feel this route would keep me safe in regards to getting laid off due to AI. I have experience with tensorrt, mlx, etc. But 0 theoretical knowledge.

Should a career in tech be viewed as a mid-to-long term prospect?
r/cscareerquestionsIN • u/Undyingknight0581 • 1d ago
Should I join a company with 1 year training and 3 year bond?
So I am a fresher in B.tech (IT) from a tier 3 college and I am getting interviewed for a company for associate consultant. But this company first trains in oracle cloud and workday for an year with a stipend 12000 then, 3 year bond with 4.3 lpa. So I don't know if I should be accepting or rejecting the company.
So I want to know from the persons in this field what are the possibilities about this role and this technology in the market would I be able to land a better job after whole 4 years or should I try for another company but I am not confident with other companies. Because my dsa is not very strong.
But this company is taking students on purely aptitude and communication skills. So I don't know if I can land another job or not. So please someone will be kind to share their experience about this role these technologies their future prospects.
