Should I get a 15-week-old Corgi now or wait for an 8-week-old puppy after Christmas?

I am trying to decide between bringing home a Corgi puppy who will be around 15 weeks old next weekend or waiting until after Christmas to bring home an 8-week-old puppy, and I’d love to hear from people who have experience with both!

I’m a first-time Corgi owner, and part of me really wants to experience the entire puppy stage from the very beginning. I’m worried that if I get a 15-week-old puppy, I’ll miss out on some of those early milestones, bonding experiences, and little puppy moments that happen between 8 and 15 weeks.

I know puppies develop so quickly at that age, and I don’t want to feel like I missed out on a big part of the experience.
On the other hand, I know a 15-week-old puppy is still very young, and I’m wondering if I’m overthinking how much I’d actually miss. Would I still get to experience plenty of the fun puppy stages, or is there something special about bringing them home at 8 weeks that you really can’t get back?

For those of you who brought home a puppy closer to 14–16 weeks, did you ever feel like you missed out on anything? And for those who brought yours home at 8 weeks, are you glad you got those extra weeks, or do you think it wouldn’t have made much of a difference?

I’d really appreciate honest advice! I’m trying to figure out whether it’s worth waiting a couple more months for the 8-week-old puppy or if I should go ahead with the 15-week-old and not worry so much about missing those early weeks.

Do you let your corgi sleep with you on the bed?

My pup sleeps right next to my bed, in his own doggy bed. Of course I'd love to cuddle him, but my bed is pretty much the only 'dog-hair free' place in my apartment. How do ya'll manage the dog hair in your face/on your pillows? How often do you wash your sheets?

Puppy biting — how have you managed it?

This is Laufey! She’s 10 weeks old, sweet and confident, and she’s biting everyone and everything. What I’ve been doing:
I’ve been disengaging with play if she bites for around 10 seconds then try again. If she keeps biting I step away from her play pen for a few minutes while she plays independently. I’ve been redirecting with toys as well. When she’s out of the pen, she chases the other animals and tries to play with them by tackling them and bites them as well. I put her in her pen when she does that. I’ve seen a little bit of improvement but it’s abysmal and I have tiny bruises on my hands and arms from the biting so I’m seeking advice.

I will be consulting with a dog trainer this week and getting her into puppy training, but any additional tips are appreciated!

We welcomed our very first litter of Cardigan Corgis this past Saturday; four boys and four girls. Our girl, Candy, managed to free-whelp without any assistance and mum and bubs are all doing well so far. From the litter we are considering keeping the Blue Merle boy (last three photos) of the Tan-Point Tri boy. Hard to part with any of them!

My corgis coming down the stairs

They hop down the stairs with both front feet together. My first corgi went one leg at a time (like walking). How do your corgis use stairs?

Squish: Dad, I know I've been tormenting my sister Squig, the huskies, your toes, my squeaky toys, the carpet, and mahm's fingers, but instead of resting, can we play more please?
