For conspiracy theory or just theory-curious folks:

My comedian friend and I are producing a neuroscience-themed variety show at Caveat, the comedy cabaret and speakeasy in the LES, on Saturday, October 24, 4pm. The event is an extension of the Fugues podcast (think The Moth meets neuroscience, with sci-fi and subtle satire w/sound design).

We have a special promo code ($5 off) for the Subreddit community.

Hope to see you!

We’re Ready to (Dis)believe You: (Conspiracy) Theories Debunked is part infotainment and part live variety show. Come for stand-up comedy, true stories, live music, and bullshit-detector games to sharpen your judgment for surviving in this manufactured world of disinformation and misinformation.

Left unchecked, your brain is cooking up some batshit theories right now. Let’s catch that little bastard. We'll explore the neuroscience behind why this happens.

Being a Sri Lankan while living in the U.K. has shaped the comedic perspective of Vidura Bandara Rajapaksa.

“But only really because that is my situation,” he said.

His experience as an immigrant living in a Western country felt like he was under constant scrutiny and surveillance, to the point that it affected his personality and his stand-up.

Everything changed last September when he got a permanent resident card.

“I can feel myself slowly unclenching,” Rajapaksa said.

With his residency not being linked to a job, Rajapaksa felt like he could “f— up.” There’s no longer a weight on his shoulders. There was a sense of freedom that overtook some of his angry feelings.

Rajapaksa will be working through that transition at Dynasty Typewriter on Friday and Saturday, where the audience can see him entering a new stage of his life.
