High-Density Hydro Storage: A denser yet low-viscosity alternative to water works with gentler slopes and lower elevations, making far more sites worldwide viable for long-duration storage. A 500 kW demonstrator with a custom-built turbine has operated at full power all year. ⚡

The World Is Set to Blow Past 1.5 Degrees Celsius of Warming and the Consequences Could Be Devastating
A new report from the United Nations Environment Programme suggests that limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels is no longer a realistic outcome, even under the most ambitious emissions-reduction scenarios.
The report’s lowest-warming scenario, which would require steep cuts in greenhouse gas emissions, would only limit peak global warming to 1.7 to 1.8 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

[QUESTION] thermal expansion
i know thermal expansion is heavily contributing to sea level rise, but dont really have anything to pout it into context, i have an msc in a related field, but that was a long time ago. does anyone have some explanations that will allow me to understand the drivers and processes for this? happy to watch some youtube videos for background, dont really want to jump into anything too academic.
also id prefer people to chatgpt, and about half of you are still real. cant tell if the other half are bots or copy pasting, what a time to be alive

The US is actively blocking out all competitive EV options forcing consumers to stay on ICE cars
There was just an article in the Atlantic decrying the USs slow EV adoption, but it's not at all surprising given the country has the worst possible choices for EVs in the entire world. https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/2026/10/americans-not-buying-electric-cars/689071/
Almost every EV for sale in the US, including telsa, uses NMC battery tech which is both awful for the environment and doesn't have the longevity of LFP. Not a single current model can come in below 30K. Not a single model is a sedan - they are all fat boxes.
I myself refuse to switch till we get real EVs with good battery chemistry and better prices.
And it's both parties, the Ds and the Rs. Both sides are complicit with cozying up to the legacy terrible auto makers, shafting the consumer in the process. Given the world is currently sitting in a glut of EV overproduction, this is beyond stupid.
