I absolutely hate to do this, and have brokenheartedly been putting this off, but I am in the middle of a separation, imminent move abroad, and taking care of my small human.
Iโm looking for a home for this guy by mid-November at the latest (sooner is also okay/possibly better). Heโs a little older, so mostly chill (sleeps a lot) and likes short walks (he ends up limping on longer, 4k plus walks nowadays, but does okay with 30-45min of easy walking).
Iโd like to see how you are with him/where heโll be living to ensure heโs safe (photos/video call, or whatever, as far as seeing living arrangements is fine, but Iโd definitely want to see how you are with him in person). Weโre located in Eastwood, and I donโt have a vehicle anymore (plus the logistics of getting my kid and him around are a lot, since Iโm in the process of listing and trying to sell off everything else we have), so being willing to make the trip over would be essential. I just want to be sure heโs in a good place and everyone is cool with each other.
Housebroken, has had vaccines, neutered, and is mostly good around other animals he knows/random cats for some reason and is very chill with kids (loves when kids and others actually ask to pet him). He eats dry food twice a day, needs to go out after eating, and loves to curl up next to you (with or without the prospect of getting more food). I give him Nexgard once a month, and I have most (if not all) of his vaccination records, plus harnesses, lede, and other odds and ends (and will rehome him with whatever extra food and random things I have for him). Bonus points if you have outdoor space or can take him on short walks often.
Heโs scared of rain and fireworks, doesnโt understand how to play with toys, and gets anxious around dogs he doesnโt know (doesnโt care about cats, but will get too excited after initially sniffing out and greeting new dogs, then kind of panics and gets aggressive with them depending on the dogโbasically wants to play, but doesnโt really understand how, after being bullied by a husky for years and whatever else he went through before he was rescuedโso just needs a proper introduction, that I can help with, if you have other dogs). He also gets freaked out by people carrying large items (boxes, water bottles) or pushing carts or garbage cans (yesterday, I found out heโs also very protective when groups of random dudes materialize in the areaโwould not stop barking until they left), but is generally just a curious sweetheart who doesnโt do much aside from sniff everywhere and everyone. Heโs constantly looking for food, and has needed to diet in the past after someone looked after him for a couple months and kept feeding him whenever he was โhungryโ. (Which is all the time. Heโs always โhungryโ.)
His name is Hagler, heโs probably around 10yo (was a rescue, so not sure of exact age) and has been through kidney and liver issues, cancer treatment, and living on the streets for the first couple years of life (heโs okay now, though, just getting older). When he has a haircut, he looks like a puppy again, but has a bit more of a coat when his fur grows out. When his fur grows out, he needs to be brushed somewhat regularly to keep out tangles (which he enjoys, aside from near his back legs, if youโre not gentle).
If you like dogs, heโs a super, easily loveable and loyal sweetheart. I would not let him go if I didnโt have to, but he needs a new, safe home. Heโs free, I just want him to be safe and loved. Pickup/introduction location is Eastwood.
Hit me up with any questions.
