Forever Beta Feedback "Find Treasure: Now also grants a chance to find additional items in most chests."

Remember when chests used to have good loot, and bots were farming them, so Blizz punished us by reducing amount and quality of loot

u/piratskul 12h ago
They should add Captcha to open chest xdd
20
•
u/snowyrad 2h ago
make it a captcha but flavor it to be 'unlocking' the chest, rogues have to do a sound captcha too
46
u/ADryTowel 13h ago
I've legitimately never gotten anything even remotely useful out of a chest. Just a bunch of trash not even worth the bag slot.
15
u/mDovekie 13h ago
They drop normal greens of whatever item bracket the chest is, and they can have blues. Some greens can be several gold, and blues much more so. Maybe they nerfed some of this now though. Also you can get bolts of cloth, uncommon ores/bars, many items that are worth a bag slot for the AH value they provide especially while leveling.

I got a lot out of chests in vanilla wow, but most of that play time in my memory is from pservers, so maybe they had increased rates. but it was still a rare event that you got something good, but it was fun to take a minute to check for one if you were passing by ( and you knew where they would be with your map addon) The top end ones also had major mana potions I think, which were always nice to find

In classic I got the Transmute Undeath to Water from a chest in strat undead very early on, and that was a huge money maker for me. Was a free gold every day depending on the phase & market at the time.

Can't wait for dwarf rouge bots farming chests in dungeons and open world content [or hunter bots]

I do indeed. Completely ruined my Azshara chest farm where you could hit like 12+ chests across the zone with barely any combat.

For anyone that cares, me and a friend actually tested how this racial works.
We only have a small sample size (we ran around and opened around 15 chests in elwynn. Him on dwarf, me on human) so take this with a grain of salt, but we found the following:
The racial doesn't work when in a group. The dwarf only gets an extra piece of loot when solo.
Extra loot seemed to be guaranteed when the dwarf was solo though, or at least a very high chance.
If someone else opens the chest first, the dwarf doesn't get extra loot when opening it again after, even if the first person didn't loot anything.
If the dwarf opens the chest, doesn't take any items, then someone else opens it, the extra loot isn't there. If the dwarf then reopens that same chest, the extra loot is also gone for him. Basically as soon as anyone else interacts with the chest, the extra loot disappears.
For the chests in Elwynn, the extra loot seemed to be a white or grey armour piece or weapon. It may have also been a 6 slot bag but unsure if it was the normal loot or the extra as I wasn't there to test those ones.

I cant wait for drama.
Please bro let me open chest because racial 😂

u/ElectricRinku 20h ago
And then your dwarf racial procs staff of Jordan in the chest and someone else wins it. Nice racial making some other guy rich. :D
51
u/tethysian 19h ago
Then you're contributing something valuable to the party. Should be easier for dwarf rogues to get into groups.

I'm sceptical. I'm sitting on the grass in steaming hot Stranglethorn Vale with the milk I looted from a dead Defias Bandit last week.
surely it's still fresh and ice cold right?

"Where did this cheese come from?"
42
u/Brilliant_Bug7223 20h ago
That would be an amazing easteregg, if milk sat in an inventory or bank for a certain amount of hours played then changed
41
12
u/sarahbau 19h ago
They’ve done this with several items in the past. I think there was a wine that you could age. One problem though is it wouldn’t be stackable, or at least you couldn’t stack milks of different ages.
5
u/Brilliant_Bug7223 17h ago
Oh that’s cool, had no idea.
16
u/Kizik 17h ago
It was the Cask of Aged Dalaran Red from Wrath of the Lich King. It cost like 225 gold and had a twelve month duration on it, with flavour text that it improves with age. When the timer expired, it turned into Cask of Peaked Dalaran Red. Let you drop a keg on the ground to give away 25 glasses of it, purely for RP purposes.
I suppose it could be an interesting gold sink to buy and then have on hand for when a raid finished something important much later on. Arthas or Algalon or the like. I saved the fruitcakes through all of original vanilla and bought a few hundred bottles of celebratory champagne in FFXIV, so it's certainly something I'd have done if I'd known about it and had the money.
5
u/golgol12 14h ago
You don't get cheese by leaving milk out for a few days. You get it by denaturing the proteins. For example, Mozzarella is made by heating milk to 50 centigrade and adding a little bit of lemon juice untill it starts separating, then you strain the curds out in a cheese cloth, kneed it a bit like dough, and then put the mass into in a near boiling pot of water and kneed it further till it's acts melted cheese and you're done. Requires as fresh milk as you can get.

Incoming dwarves throwing fits in dungeon groups because you didnt let them open the chest. (they were going to keep the loot)
40
u/bgufo 17h ago
There will be no fit, If a dwarf joins the group he get all chests and contents by default as per Blizzards design. If any other ppl opens chest the dwraf leaves the group as intended.

They will farm them on their own, I was already farming chest & herbs in DM in classic
22
u/disastrous_hyena759 20h ago
The thing is, it's either going to be genuinely useful and provide some extra items that actually matters, or it's just going to be another bit of RP flavor in the tooltip.
6
u/tethysian 19h ago
Even if it's a marginal difference it is good RP flavour. I mean they're not gonna hand out an extra green every time a dwarf opens a chest, but an extra silver bar or grey item to vendor isn't bad.
8
3
u/vaarsuv1us 18h ago
and you can just slightly increase the percentage to find that green or blue item for dwarves without braking the game
3
1
u/Jindujun 17h ago
But silver bars are green! :d
As long as it's not complete junk 1c items I'm sure it'll be fun.

This will fix the dwarf population imbalance, as now all the bots will be dwarves!
4
u/MonsiuerGeneral 9h ago
And this is why I didn’t want Find Treasure to be buffed, but instead to be replaced. Like… the whole reason they nerfed treasures in the first place was because of bots… and now you’re going to improve a racial ability that locates treasures more easily by making those treasures “worth more”?
(Unless the OP is actually serious and not just shitposting and the difference is literally only getting a couple more mundane items… haven’t tested it out yet)

u/Xurre 21h ago
This thing will spark so many arguments ingame as dwarves will feel entitled to opening every chest for that sweet extra milk. Chests contain a lot of other useful stuff too and as long as all of the contents is not rolled out, other races will want a piece of that pie too.
39
u/BottleEquivalent4581 20h ago
6
u/swordfishy 13h ago
Too bad people are too sensitive nowadays. If they added a racial like "1% crit for each level of drunk you are" that would be hilarious. You'd have wasted dwarves running around all over the world, see all the RP drinking in chat, and it would make the world feel amazing.

Just be social and if you have a dwarf in party, ask them to open it without autoloot after the roll off

Dwarf rogue hanging behind to loot the chest while the group moves on to start the next pull, then hands out the loot after. Seems great if people talk to each other.

I suppose the Tauren racial does avoid that problem.
Make the Dwarf racial an active that checks an empty chest for more loot.
1
u/CharacterBalance4187 10h ago
Since the greens and above auto roll now for chests. No one has been rolling on them anymore in dungeons so I just open and roll the green and leave everything else. If someone wants the other junk. Good for them.

Fun, unique, lore accurate.
11
u/LoreChief 14h ago
Make it an active ability where the Dwarf -knocks- on the chest (prospectors blessing illuminates). Whoever opens it (such as the winner of a chest roll) gets the loot with the added bonus 'highlighted'. Announce loot contents to the party with a highlight as well.
Dwarves get to do their thing, no entitlement or tricky behavior, everyone's happy.

don't roll for chest anymore, the dwarf opens the chest
what if this counted for lockboxes, dwarf rogue the new meta
1
u/moredros 5h ago
I really hope it works on lockboxes. Otherwise it'll become so useless at 60 (most the chests you find will be locked).
Sadly though, if it doesn't work in parties/dungeons, thats a ton of the interesting social interaction removed. Would be really cool to have something like "groups decide to let the dwarf loot, and then roll the loot after"

I think most people thought "a green item.". Nothing flashy , but maybe something worth the effort. I leveled a dwarf questing from 25-30 since the change and I honestly can't tell what the new loot was, it was all grays, some food, and a silver bar, etc.

You know they can have a treasure racial, have it be better than this, and also have good damage/utility racials on top of that right?

The post isn't marked as humor but there's no way the loot tables have already been figured out by now so it's definitely a joke post and it's just tagged incorrectly

my very first character in this game had a Staff of Jorden. A warlock.. I bought it for 10g or so, and almost declined the offer because I was already lvl 40 so it looked a bit obsolete... The dealmaker was that my lvl 40 mount was free so I could afford the massive sum of 10g! Oh such innocent days.. I ended up running with it until lvl 56 or so
