Troubleshooting | Windows Google Chrome memory explodes when watching YouTube
I have a high end PC which is able to run games at very high fps with high resolution, as well as a very fast ethernet connection.
The only issue I have is chrome's memory usage exploding when I begin watching a YouTube video.

Note that at this time I only had one YouTube tab open (despite the (20) after YouTube).
Has anybody else had this issue before? Is this some sort of memory leak on YouTube's end? Any help in resolving the issue would be greatly appreciated.

What extensions do you have installed in chrome

honorlock, ublock origin lite, zotero connector

Try with all disabled or use an Incognito mode with them all disabled and compare the difference in memory. My gut feel is that one of those extensions is leaking a lot of memory whilst on the YouTube site.

I’d try YouTube in Incognito with all extensions disabled. If the memory usage stays normal there, an extension is probably the problem. If it still happens, try disabling hardware acceleration and updating your GPU drivers.
