Does anyone have an explanation for this? I stumbled upon a video of a house in Northwich with 1,000 plug sockets inside.

Does anyone know the story behind it? Why on earth does it have so many?

(Manchester Road, Northwich, Cheshire)

Hello! I am slowly considering to move around Chester way somewhere. I am wondering if anyone is more clued up on the areas that would be the best to live? I’d like a spacious 3bed house that is not too far from amenities and is not in a rough area. My budget would be around £300k so I am wondering if anyone has been in the same boat before and what is your advice? I am a young female, no kids, only 4cats and me. So safety is important as well as peace but access to cafes/shops preferable. Thank you

Hi everyone,

I will be putting an offer on a house in Moston, Sandbach (Albion locks estate between Sandbach and middlewhich.

I’m originally from Manchester and will probably head back into Manchester once/twice a month to go out for food etc so being close to the M6 is important. I also WFH with one day in the office in Warrington so not really any issues with commuting.

I know Moston is kinda secluded away from everything but I do really like that aspect of it, I also like the canal and potential future walks along it. In terms of shopping etc, I will be going into sandbach which I don’t mind driving to when I need to. I won’t need much public transport either as I do drive.

Aside from it being secluded as that’s a positive for me, is there anything else I should be worried about? Is it generally quite a safe area? And should I be going more into sandbach or middlewhich for shopping/food/going out etc?

Hi everyone! 😊 I’m thinking of moving to the Elworth area of Sandbach and recently came across Linden Bank. I was wondering if anyone lives nearby and could share their experiences of the area? Thank you

Having not played football for a couple of years due to work/having kids come along, I’ve suddenly found the time to play again.

Are there any casual 5aside or 7aside meetups or leagues in and around Northwich?

Not looking for anything too serious, just a chance to play once a week or twice a month and be able to play a bit of football. Cheers!

Can. Anybody help me find someone who might live near chester/ birkenhead? I only have a photo and minimal details but she was on reddit so hopefully she sees this

I generally dislike autumn, but am making an effort this year to try and enjoy it. What suggestions do you lovely people have to get out and enjoy this time of year?

Walks, places, events and anything in between (bonus points for a good pub for a meal after)

Hiya, I'm 22F just back from university and looking for more friends around my age! Struggled to find anything so far, I joined Northwich u3a but most of the people who go there seem to be retirement age. I'm Northwich-based with very nerdy/geeky interests (your typical fantasy, sci-fi, TTRPG / Larp, video game, anime, etc girlie), happy to commute Chester, Liverpool, Crewe, Knutsford, even ManC at a push. :)

Hi all,

I’m currently looking at buying my first house and Middlewich is one of the areas I’m seriously considering. I’ve visited a few times and driven around the town as I currently rent nearby in Holmes Chapel, but obviously that only tells you so much compared with actually living there.

I’d be really interested to hear from people who live there now, or have lived there recently. What’s Middlewich like day to day? Are there particular parts of the town you’d recommend or avoid? How is it for things like traffic, shops, pubs, walking, general community feel and getting around Cheshire/into Manchester?

I’ve also heard occasional comments about Traveller antisocial behaviour in or around Middlewich. I don’t know how accurate or current that is, so I’d particularly appreciate some perspective from locals rather than relying on hearsay.

Anything else worth knowing before buying there, good or bad, would be really appreciated. I’m looking at this as somewhere I could potentially stay for quite a few years, rather than just a short-term move.

Cheers!

UPDATE: Thank you so much to everyone who completed the survey. We’ve now finished our first round of research and your responses are helping shape what we become. If you’d like to follow what comes next, you can find us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wildrootedstudio

Hi, I’m doing some anonymous research into the kinds of talks, workshops and events women would genuinely be interested in attending.

It looks at things like:

topics you’d actually want to hear about

the kinds of speakers you’d go to see

event formats

what you’d realistically pay

what normally stops you attending events

It’s anonymous, nothing is being sold, and it should take about 3 minutes.

I’d really appreciate your thoughts.

I will be buying a house around the Sandbach area and I’ve narrowed down to 3.

One is in Moston, the other in Haslington and the last in Winterley.

I’m going to go out in each area to get a feel for them all but does anyone have any thoughts on them, anything I should know?

Hello! I've just moved up to the north for my boyfriend but am struggling to find local friends! Please reach out if youd be intrested?

I’ve currently been looking at moving from North Manchester down to Cheshire, mainly because I work near Stockport, but I want peace and quiet and a fresh start after being in an abusive relationship.

I’ve had a couple of suggestions from friends that Macclesfield and Poynton would be good choices along with Alderley Edge and Wilmslow as they’re easy to commute to my workplace from and back into Manchester if needed. I’m just wondering about if there’s any areas I should be wary of as I’m not majorly familiar with the areas.

I, 24 f moved to Northwich to be with my patner 25 M, he is quite introverted so does not have many friends here, we eventually want to socialise and find people we can be friends with but are unsure where and how to start as we are both quite shy. Please can someone advice? Would love to go double dates, pub quizzes etc!

I’m trying to find some details about a jet plane, small single seater or trainer, which was on display on the corner at a road junction in Knutsford on the late 70’s.

It was just outside the town centre on a walk home to a long gone relative’s house on a new, then, housing estate.

I mentioned the plane to a current Knutsfordian and received a blank look in return. Neither search engine nor artificial assistance have helped, so I thought I’d try this collective consciousness.

Hi all - I would be interested to know if anyone has thoughts on living in Macclesfield. I am 28M renting in South MCR and looking to buy somewhere with a bit better property values. I am drawn to macclesfield because from the map it looks like it has great access to green spaces, peak district, forest etc and a few good looking gyms. I'm also leaning towards moving further out so it's a bit quieter - Didsbury is basically a traffic jam.

I'm not particularly fussed about nightlife, expecting that to be fairly minimal like in most similar sized areas but a few decent cafes and a couple of restaurants would be great.

Would be interested to know what demographics live there, is it mostly families/retirees etc?

Generally what is your impression/experience of living there?

Thanks!

Foden's led by Russell Gray claim the 172nd British Open with music making of the richest emotion.

I'm looking to find Grey Poplar trees and White Poplar trees, or any other variant aside from Black Poplar if possible. Does anyone know of any locations I could see these in or around Wilmslow ideally? I can travel if you know of any others! Thank you!

Me and my Partner, both in our late 20’s, are looking at moving to the area next year into a home on one of the new build developments.

We were looking for some advice on the following :

-What’s the area like? Is there a good sense of community and the area safe?

-Is there a lot going on? Run clubs? Markets? Local events?

-Good independent pubs/bars? Restaurants? Coffee shops?

- Is there lots of green space for walking a dog?

-Is there any doggy day cares nearby?

-Is there any good tracks, footpaths, areas for running?

-Does the area have good schools?

-Is the commute into Manchester for work hassle free? Are the trains reliable?

Appreciate all your responses!

Plan on treating the other half to a nice meal this weekend but not sure where to go. Ideally wanting something a little fancy so we have an excuse to dress up preferably round Chester but looking for Middlewich and surrounding areas too. Any and all suggestions appreciated

Moving to the area soon and sorting the most important thing, which is obviously what we will have as our obligatory first night takeaway! Any recommendations from people in the local area would be amazing.
