Need KVMS Pro software alternative.
I have multiple DVRs and NVRs. I'm currently using CP Plus. I can view it on the gcMob app on my phone. But on PC software ie KVMS Pro or Pro Lite, many of the devices are failing to connect. It just puts a generic error of "failed to connect". I think this may be a software issue. So, if there's a third party software that can help me connect all my devices and create a video wall also it'd really help. Or help me figure this error out also.

Installing a new camera with conduit
I had an old hard wired CCTV camera that died. I tried using the old wire to pull a new Cat 6 cable, but that was a fail. So I ripped the wall open to install a conduit, so I never have to do this again. Ideally I'd like to screw the camera junction box to the wall and run a 3/4" nipple through the back of the box with a locknut. I'll be using 1" conduit with a 90° sweep (yes there is room), but I'm getting hung up on the right junction box and the nipple to use. A 3/4" irrigation nipple and reducer to female thread could work, but i don't know what's standard. It's only the one camera right now, but there may be future additions, so I want to plan ahead.
The planned camera is a Hikvision DS-2CD2387G2-LSU/SL — 8 MP ColorVu.

Wireless Cameras
Does anyone make a system where I can have multiple monitors capable of connecting to multiple cameras all on the same frequency?
Some background: We have 3 combines and 2 grain carts. I'd like to have a system where I can have a monitor in each grain cart cab that can hook to the cameras on the combines. The goal being that the cart operators can see their and loads to better line up with the combine. We have a system now but the monitors and cameras aren't all on the same frequency, so we have to have two cameras on each combine, one for each monitor. The third combine isn't hooked up yet, but I figure if we're upgrading we might as well. Anyway, I've looked into it some and what I have found hasn't been promising and I've already dumped several hours into this calling around to different companies.
Sorry for the run on, but any ideas or help would be much appreciated!

Zmodo NVR system no longer usable with the app?
UPDATE 22/10/2026: on iOS ZModo has an app update where they claim to have added NVR playback. Doesn’t work for me.
I have an NVR system. Since a few months they started displaying adverts, lucky I still had an older Funlux app that still works without ads. However, since a few weeks the only thing that still works in new Zmodo and old Funlux apps is direct view per camera. No events, no playback. Playback shows a cloud subscription! But, this is an NVR system, it records by itself without cloud.
The box is no longer reachable. Reformatted the HD and confirmed it is recording and can playback using attached monitor, but not usable via the apps.
Is your NVR system still usable with the App?
The webviewer on user.zmodo.com doesn’t work either.

Looking for a relatively simple camera setup
I'm looking to get 3-4 security cameras for my home, and I am drowning in options. I was hoping maybe I could get pointed in the right direction as to which brand and model is "decent". A few things I think I want -
1.)I was hoping for a PoE system(as long as it actually means each camera is powered by ethernet being plugged into the dvr box, and only the ethernet(I want to AVOID wiring into junction boxes in the attic for power).
2.) I'm absolutely avoiding cloud storage options, so that's out
3.) I don't need crazy "AI" features. I want cameras that will record in good quality. I don't need to read license plates from the road. I don't need cameras that can electronically swivel, either.
4.) I would want to be able to get a live feed on to my phone.
So I kind of came to "settle" on this model(on amazon) - ARENTI 8MP PoE IP Camera Outdoor Security System, 4 Pack 4K Bullet Cameras. - I can't link it on this subreddit.
I'm sure this is relatively garbage compared to some of you that have legitimate systems, but I don't need anything fancy. I appreciate any advice here, fellas. I really am overwhelmed by the amount of systems on the market.

Lightning suppression on remote PoE camera
I have a PTZ PoE camera that is about 150 ft away from house. It functions fine but I worry about lightning strikes or other EMFs induced on the ethernet cable. How do professionals protect against lightning?
I am thinking maybe an ethernet grounding block at pole and house or doing:
[Camera] <----> [PoE Switch with SPF+] <----> [Fiber] <----> [SPF+ Fiber + Ethernet Switch]
Since I can then add other outside PoE cameras to the PoE switch without needing to buy additional grounding blocks for each.
Any insight would be appreciated, thank you
*edit*
Thanks for the replies everyone, gonna get two cisco WS-C3560CG-8PC-S (or maybe CX idk yet, waiting for a good deal) and learn some IOS.

safe security cameras ?
Hey everyone,
I need to install one or two cameras in my house to keep an eye on the animals during the day when I'm not home, but I know the probability of the transmission ending up on a dodgy website is high.
I could even turn the camera on only when I leave... but even so, I'd like to avoid being "hacked".
Is it possible? And which one should I buy? Or what should I do to avoid this problems? Without breaking the bank xD
Thanks, and all tips are welcome.
Note: I'm not an expert on this, so please explain things to me as if I have a low IQ.

Camera "hijacking" NVR IP address
I have a Pro-Vision CCTV system, with 2 identical NVR's.
Camera 15 on the first NVR, keeps "hijacking" the IP address of the second NVR.
Have assigned it a different IP, after a few hours, second NVR Zgoes offline, due to an IP address, clash, due to the camera, taking the address of the NVR.
Is there a way I can stop this, or protect the IP address of the second NVR?
1st NVR IP = 192.168.8.40, has 16 cameras attached. 15th camera cause issue.
Attached camera's are assigned Ip's 192.168.8 41 to 192.168.8.56.
Second NVR has IP address of 192.168.8.60, has 9 camera's with IP's 192.168.8.61 - 192.168.8.69

Downloading large sections of video.
I’m looking for the best way to download like time periods of video from a continuously recording camera (it's an E330)? I’m thinking 5-minute blocks or so.

Synergy transport harddrives
Morning to one and all, I use Synergy Transport as one of our monitoring tools, I'm having issues with a few of our hard drives creating archives so going to take nuclear option and format them to see if that sorts out an issue or three.
Has anyone got a name of CCTV Linux software to do this. The drives appear to use a Linux system as they don't show up on PC apart from the Synergy software.
Haven't had a good result from the service engineer so rather a paperweight sitting on shelves going to see if I can get it alive.
Cheers for any insight guys.

Are there any cloud based DVR CCTV recording solutions?
Hi All.
I have 5 PoE CCTV cameras which I have been recording via my Synology NAS.
I want to move away from NAS (and in particular proprietary NAS's) for various reasons.
My ideas for a replacement recording solution are either
- Set up my own little micro server (I have an intel I7 8700k and motherboard & plenty of RAM laying around not being used which would be more than powerful enough)
or
- Run a DVR.
I am curious however, are there any DVR's that can record directly to a cloud service negating the need for local storage?
Basically, I'm trying to get away from having to use as much localised storage as possible. Hard drives suck.
Most of my stuff I use cloud storage these days.
Whatever I use it would still be a requirement to be able to live view the cameras.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Hikvision NVR / ALOHA SPY
Hi everyone, does anyone know if Hikvision has a native Aloha SPY integration, similar to TRASSIR’s active POS? I know about DTiQ and all but they’re significantly more expensive than the TRASSIR solution.
