Couple of things i want to note:
- What do claws, tail, and muzzle do? The announcement talks about mutating your tail into a prehensile tail, is that part of a linear level-based progression or is it a more traditional mutation?
- "Agility-tilted attribute progression", it looks like choice of animal locks you much harder into a "build" than morphotype or caste. I predict that this affects the points you get every 6 levels, but you still get an attribute point on odd multiples of 3.
- Mutated Ape: I predict this will be a "vanilla" option. Like humans in dnd. Even stats, but with whatever new features the mutated animals bring.
- Mutated Bear: Notably, this will become the most natural way to play an Urshiib character. Will the stats, mutations and skills work with or against this?
- Mutated Bird: Certainly you get flying for free. I would bet this is a charisma character that loses a lot of toughness. Maybe, if they want to go all-in, it comes with brittle bones. Perhaps birds come with a bigger use for gossip which i have generally found to be useless.
- Mutated Chameleon: Perhaps the first stealth build in the game? I could see this coming with a simple Camoflage ability that just says "for x turns, enemies cannot see you"
- Mutated Crab: Probably high AV, other than that im not sure
- Mutated Dog: Can i equip a sword to my mouth? Maybe has naturally higher reputation with every faction. MAYBE plays more like a snapjaw
- Mutated Equine: Probably has multiple legs. Almost certainly a lot of move speed. I wonder, if saltbacks are rideable now, maybe equines are too?
- Mutated Frog: I would bet my life's savings that this guy starts with a permanent tongue twist mutation. Maybe some tools centered around Jump
- Notably, these are in alphabetical order and we're nowhere near the end of the alphabet. What other mutated animals would be cool to play as?
