"Hi... can I help you?"
"What's it like in there? Is there any delicious fish?"
"Sometimes. I get cans of tuna."
"Tuna? Oh wow those are big. And feisty. Really hard to catch."
"No, they're in a can. It's a metal thing where they put chopped up pieces of a dead tuna into."
"Oh so it's like eating from the garbage? That sounds amazing. Can I come in?"
"I'd let you but the humans don't make the window open for cats."
"What's a window?"
"it's that clear thing between you and me."
"oh the invisible force field that hurts my head when I try to fly through it? I lost an uncle to one of those."
"Yeah... sure. That thing."

Seagulls are one of the smartest birds on earth? I'm going to need some proof, lol

u/ShortStoryIntros 2h ago
I thought they were dumb as rocks, but then i googled it to see..
"Research on ring-billed gulls has shown they can successfully solve complex cognitive puzzles, such as the string-pull test, which was previously thought to be a hallmark of parrots and corvids"
They also have memory and facial recognition like crows/ravens. They can recognize individual human faces. Not only that, they have an ability to utilize strategy. Timing human schedules like garbage truck routes, park lunch breaks, etc..
Apparently, not as dumb as i though they were.. but not the smartest birds on earth.

idk pretty sure corvids are the smartest birds on earth

u/CardinalFool 2h ago
Corvids are up there but I'm pretty sure it's the African grey parrot that is considered the smartest. They have the tool use down as good as any corvid and then add a whole language aspect on top of things

I feel like they are both trying to convince the other that they will not eat them even though they are both absolutely trying to eat one another.

That would probably be an interesting fight. Seagulls can be vicious (and frequently behead pigeons).

Mine does this and makes bird noises to them. I put a bird feeder outside my wife's home office window so they can enjoy the birds.
Gave the cat a table under the window to watch from. The squirrels that live in my front trees come down and tap on the glass to get his attention from time to time.

I bet the cat is fantasizing about having the seagull for dinner
“Would you like to come over for dinner?”
“Yes, what’s for dinner?”
“You”

Cat: Be thankful for the glass window. Otherwise I would have eaten you for a snack.
Bird: Haha.. I would have liked to see you try.
Cat: You sure about it?
Bird: Yeh, you look pretty pathetic. Bring it on.
Cat: <Gives up>
