Can Tech Giants Stay Ahead Without Breaking Their Workers ?
Hey, I am writing an article about workplace stress due to competitive environment. I have seen interviews of Meta employees saying that though the company pays great and they get to travel a lot for seminars and all, but they find the workplace toxic and stressful Manly because of teams competing with each other over a single project and uncertainty of job, all the AI stuff, etc. To all the people here working for companies like meta, google ,etc. - what are your reasons for stress at workplace? Is it similar for everyone? what changes you think should be implemented? and can companies expect the same level or a healthy level of performance if the stress factor is fixed?

Moving from VFX to Tech Project Management—Is It Realistic?
Hi everyone,
I’m seeking honest advice on transitioning into the technology industry, ideally into a Technical Project Manager (TPM), Technical Program Manager, or IT Project/Program Manager role.
I have a BE in Information Technology (2014), but my career took a different direction. I began working in film and television production, progressing through production and creative roles before moving to Canada and eventually transitioning into VFX coordination.
Across my career, I’ve worked in media production and post-production, coordinating projects, managing deliverables and dependencies, tracking risks and timelines, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and helping keep complex production pipelines running smoothly.
I now want to leverage that experience to move into the technology industry, where I can build on my existing project-management skills while developing deeper technical expertise.
I’m based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada, and am looking for better long-term career growth, stability, compensation, and opportunities to work on technology-focused projects.
I’ve completed my PMP certification and am currently building my cloud and AI knowledge through AWS-related learning. I’ve also experimented with automation and AI-assisted app development, including building a small application that I demonstrated during an interview.
My biggest challenge is that, despite having an IT degree and years of professional experience managing projects and coordinating teams, I don’t have a traditional software development background or extensive experience working on enterprise IT systems.
I’d appreciate advice on a few questions:
1. Is transitioning directly into a TPM or Technical Program Manager role realistic, or would IT Project Manager, Implementation Project Manager, Technology Operations, or non-technical Program Manager roles be a better entry point?
2. How much technical knowledge do employers realistically expect from someone transitioning into these roles?
3. Would AWS certifications or further technical education meaningfully improve my prospects, or should I focus more on hands-on projects and gaining relevant experience?
4. Has anyone successfully transitioned from film/TV production, media operations, or VFX into the technology industry? What was your first role, and how did you make the transition?
5. Given the Canadian tech job market, what would be the most practical strategy for making this transition over the next 6–12 months?
I’m not necessarily looking to become a software engineer. I’d like to combine my experience in production, project coordination, stakeholder management, and delivery with stronger technical skills to work effectively with engineering and technology teams.
I’d genuinely appreciate candid advice, including constructive criticism about whether my target roles are realistic and what gaps I should prioritize closing.
Thank you!

I don’t want to be late again
I'm 28 and work in customer support at a SaaS company. I'm not a developer, but I'm technically curious, and lately I've been feeling like I'm late to the AI wave.
I've taken a few prompt engineering courses that help in my day-to-day, and I'm about to start a vibe coding course to get comfortable with more tools.
What's bugging me: years ago I saw a post about n8n and thought "this has nothing to do with me" and scrolled past. Now I see how useful automation skills are, and I can't help wondering where I'd be if I'd started back then.
So my questions:
Is it too late to get into AI tools or vibe coding as a non-developer?
For someone curious but not super technical, what skills would you start building today?
If you've made a similar shift from a non-tech role, what actually helped you?
Thanks in advance
