For anyone asking how big their borzoi will get
Here’s photos in chronological order from when we got him at 14ish (?) weeks up through December of 2025. So for anyone considering a borzoi puppy and wondering what it’ll be like when they grow up, let the last photo be a warning: no part of your counter is safe from these hardened criminals!

Capyhero does Inktober: Day 22
I’m completing a drawing every day this month for the children’s fantasy novel I’m illustrating. Here is day 22. I wanted to change it up a bit, so I drew Lupine, the borzoi deuteragonist of the story in acrylic ink. The constellation is Canis Major

puppy zoi transport
hello everyone! im soon going to acquire a borzoi of my own and will be my first dog under my own care. i have a couple of questions such as:
1.the breeder said shes going to be 14-15 weeks old by that time and im wondering whats a good size comparison for the puppy?
2.the location we're Picking her up from is 2hrs 30mins from my state so my family and i have decided to drive there. should i put her in a kennel, if so what dimension should it be and do i bring a pee pad in case of oopsies?
3.what else should i bring (other than snacks and toys?) to make her comfortable during the journey to her new home?

To anyone struggling with their borzoi…
There is a welcoming and knowledgeable community available to you to help with advice, to listen to your frustration, or even to help you decide whether you would feel better rehoming or returning the dog.
Borzoi are wonderful and have many great qualities, but some of those qualities make them the wrong fit for certain personalities or life circumstances.
I am personally willing to be a helpful resource. I know I’m just a faceless poster here, but in real life I am a borzoi owner (of multiple borzoi) and a board member of my regional borzoi club (in the USA). I do dog sports with my borzoi and have many friends in the breed, all over the country, and some internationally, who are passionate about these dogs.
Please reach out if you need help. We want to help you and your dog. You deserve to be supported in the ways you need.

Anyone else absolutely sick over this? I can’t stop thinking about these poor puppies.
For those who are unaware: below is the original Facebook post. Her latest update states that the police are aware, and have found out that all 10 puppies have been sold. She is hoping to reach out and find those who bought the puppies and will pay full price to get them back. They aren’t even weaned from mama yet and it breaks my heart!
“This is a post I never thought I would ever have to make. These photos are the 5 week old photos from my Borzoi litter taken on Oct 19, 2026. They were taken from fenced area they were in with their mother this morning between probably 6 AM and 7:30 AM. Yes, a police report has been filed. No, I have no idea. Please do NOT call me, I am really not up for talking right now. If you have the puppies and will return them great I am not interested in charging you I just want my babies back. NBRF has been made aware as has the cobreeder of the litter. No, there isn't anything anyone can do. Yes, my local vet is aware. I am going to turn off comments because I just cannot right now. If you are a friend and you want to call maybe I'll answer but like as not I won't right now. There's not anything anyone can do. They didn't get out and get lost. Pray is about all I know. By all means spread the word, this is in White County, Tennessee.”

Is borzoi a good hiking buddy?
What experiences have you had of hiking with a Borzoi? When is the best time to start taking such a large dog with you, so as not to put too much strain on its joints? I live in the city, but a few times a year I go on 5-day hikes, during which I cover about 10-15 km a day. Of course, I’ll start with easy, short trails, but how old should the dog be? I’m also worried that the dog might chase deer or other animals, is it possible to let him off the lead occasionally, provided he’s been properly trained to come when called?

Firey's Master Rally Class #1
I LOVE working with this boy! He said hold my bones and did the whole course off leash! There were a few other dogs in the room and we didn't know about half the signs 😆 his first novice rally competition is in 2 short weeks!

STOLEN BORZOI LITTER!! URGENT!!
I’m sharing on behalf of a friend to try to boost awareness. PLEASE be on the lookout for 10 borzoi puppies, 5 weeks old, that were stolen from their breeder this morning in Quebeck, Tennessee. Please keep a look out for stolen 5 wk Borzoi puppies.
Ethical breeder in Tennessee had her 5week old Borzoi puppies stolen. This is NOT a backyard breeder, these are show quality puppies. Please keep a look out in any dog/borzoi groups you’re in. Her name is on her Facebook post picture, Sandra Moore-Doby, if you have any information.

Puppy advice?
Me and my partner just got our first borzoi puppy at 9 weeks(10 on Monday) together! His name is Gus. We both have had big and small dogs and I have had some experience in training pups, but borzoi are on a different level. We have a system down of 4 small meals a day, and cutting off food and water around 5 to prevent accidents in the middle of the night. We try to take him out 10 minutes after meals, drinks, and nap. Still has accidents maybe once a day, but mostly our fault since he doesn't really have warning signs. He whines anytime I am doing something, so its hard to tell and that's really the only sign. I bought a bell on Amazon for the door, so everytime we go out i have his paw hit it. Comes tomorrow. Sometimes we allow water in certain situations after 5. I even got him to sit with treats, so he is learning a few things even though i heard they can be hard to teach.
My biggest issue so far is that he absolutely hates being left alone. I get it, he is a puppy and I don't blame him. But in the future this could be a problem if it continues probably. I just got a new full time job starting in a few weeks, so I will be home less, but my partner has a more flexible schedule and can work from home/take breaks. I just started to crate train him today, got him to stay in it with the door closed with me in the room, treat induced. But if I do literally anything without him, he yowls and whines. For example I was grabbing my groceries from the apartment lobby, we are on the first floor so its a very short walk. But I left him alone for 30 seconds and he cried the entire time, and managed to pee twice in the span of my two trips. I am not sure how to help him be okay with being bored and/or alone.
Since we live in an apartment, I can't just leave him in the crate to let him howl his heart out until he tires himself. He will follow me everywhere even when he is in the middle of a nap.
Does anyone have tips or experience with these things? I heard and researched they are stubborn and independent creatures, but right now he is terribly stubborn and dependant😂. We love him with all our heart but mama's is having burnout.
Anything I should know in the future too?

Advice needed
Hi all,
I have had my borzoi pup for 6 months (she's 8 months old now) and i am just honestly struggling. I have a bad case of the puppy blues. I love her dearly, but she is such a hard puppy. No matter how much we exercise her/tire her out, she has more energy stored elsewhere.
She still doesn't really understand potty training, even though we religiously take her out every 30 minutes and look for cues. My first time owning a female dog, and she will just squat wherever. No signs. No sniffing for a spot.
Her teething is still horrible as well. We give her frozen carrots, bones, tough chew toys, but she still wants to chew our dry wall, my dining chair legs, our shoes, etc. You get the drift.
Her recall skills are just terrible as well. I knew going into this, borzois have a naturally high prey drive. But i'm telling you guys i don't think her brain cells are connected.
Anyways, husband and i would love to try for a baby in the next few months. Having two dogs (one corgi & one borzoi) is just really stressful. We definitely took our corgi puppy for granted, because he was the easiest puppy ever and is very intelligent and lives to please us, haha. I also want to add that our borzoi puppy definitely "bullies" our corgi, as in jumping on his back, biting him constantly, taking away his toys or bones, etc. I am just afraid our borzoi will accidentally cause a bad injury to our corgi.
All this being said, i am just feeling like our borzoi isn't the best fit for us. And it is a really sad conclusion for us to come to. I am asking for advice from other borzoi owners who made it through the puppy stage. Thanks everyone in advance.

Introducing the Long-Legged Dachshund
One day I saw my black-and-white dachshund and thought wouldn't it be nice if he was bigger and had longer legs? I'm vehemently against backyard breeding, so breeding my weiner was off the table. Then I learned about this new technology that could create gravitational warps so I convinced him to try it and BAAAAM his legs grew threefold overnight!
If any of you have a doxie at home and are tired of him/her being leg-mogged by other dogs, I highly recommend the gravity warp. The only downside is that your dachshund might come out a bit wormy but honestly that's pretty cute.

How to get to know the breed before approaching a breeder
Hi all, I’m looking for some tips either from experienced owners or breeders on how to maybe get to know the breed before approaching a breeder in the future. I’m located in Germany, and I have a dog (rescue female, mix, part sighthound) right now, but in the future it is my dream to have a borzoi. I don’t want to just get a dog because I think they look cool, I want to do my due diligence and make sure a borzoi would be a good fit for me. So far in terms of research online about their personalities and activity level I think it would be a good match. Does it make sense to go to dog shows or lure coursing events? Where I live there is a Windhundrennbahn that has events and I thought about dropping by with my own dog (she loves to run and chase a lure).
Is it weird to show up to dog shows to just to poke about and ask questions? Borzoi is such a rare breed that I can’t think of any other way to meet people with one other than attending some kind of event.
I’ve done some research on breeders in Germany and there are a couple I will likely contact in the future. But I’m open to any recommendations if anyone has some!

What to expect from a Borzoi puppy?
I’m debating getting a borzoi puppy and I have a few apprehensions but I want to know exactly what I’d be getting myself into. I would love to hear from Borzoi owners how borzoi puppies are especially compared to other breeds, energy, temperament, behaviour wise. Is there anything uniquely challenging to raising one? Are they easier than other breeds in certain ways? I know I love the adult borzoi temperament and I know they’re a little slow to mature.
I expect any puppy to be a puppy and the typical stress and challenges that come along with raising one. I’ve owned dogs all my life, terriers, hounds, etc, but this would be my first puppy raising by myself. I played a part in training and raising my in laws lab puppy and I’m gonna be real I would never ever own a lab, the puppy stage is just too much for me with those dogs I can’t stand them. My main issue is the nonstop in your face energy and intense mouthiness. I guess that’s the best frame of reference for me to compare a borzoi to? My expectations of borzoi puppies in comparison would probably be far less biddable and more stubborn than a lab, mouthy as any puppy is but not as bad as labs, energetic but with more of an off switch and showing up as frequent short bursts of energy followed by rest rather than prolonged sustained high energy levels
I would intend to crate train, and develop a solid consistent routine of frequent opportunities to run/play, followed by training and rest time. I’m also curious how many times a day most people would recommend free run opportunities for them. I don’t have a yard but there’s a safe fenced area literally right behind my home so that’s not an issue. Thank you I just really want to be realistic and manage my expectations before committing to this! Here’s puppy pictures from my breeder for tax

First borzoi, 16 weeks HELP with chewing/ chew ideas
Hello! My first borzoi (Gwynevere) in Australia. Just looking for some ideas for long last chews I can give her that are safe for everyday? She is a MONSTER chewer and destroyer and can eat a pigs ear in 10 mins, I’m concerned she’s getting to many of the ears/ similar (bully sticks, braided bully etc) she gets one every second night at this point (for context, she is very energetic and my old dogs (kelpie and boardercollie) get overwhelmed with her very quickly so I have to keep them mostly separate especially at night) I can’t take her to play outside at night because we have LOTS of cane toads she tries to eat) I give her lick mats frozen with watered down wet food and a few treats frozen in it for her to get to, but she gets board of it quickly and loses interest, same with any of the toys I give her. She is deep in the throws of teething right now. Any help would be appreciated!
