Just wanted to share
So measured our girl tonight because we were curious. 9mo pup.
28inches withers to tail.. 20" tall. I don't think we did the length measurement before, but that's up from 19" tall at 6mos. Our last border collie (male) was 21" at withers, 27" in length at maturity.
Kind of cracks me up, this girl is much meatier overall (just as athletic but you don't feel like she's nearly as bird-boned), but she's actually longer than he was despite being a bit shorter. Haven't weighed her recently, but I'd guess she probably pans at his mature weight.. she's tucked-belly but she's overall a much more solid girl than he was (she cracks into your legs at full speed, you know it.. and she very often cracks into your legs at full speed)
Anyway, just thought I'd share. It's fun watching her grow.. she is not, by any means, a big dog (and tbh that's been the one thing I've missed as someone who used to own labs.. I'd love the breed in rough collie size LOL)
Need new pics, although I suspect she won't look much different than the last batch, so here's one from a month ago for tax.

Puppy aggression
THE CULPRIT BTW
I don’t have any photos or videos but my almost 9 week old puppy had started being really aggressive like growling and locking onto pants/hands/ankles or literally whatever she can find.. We’ve tried force naps, yelping, ‘air jail’ and toy redirect which works for a few second but she gets bored and comes back to latch to your pants ffs nothing really chills her out. She’s not like this all the time mainly when she has something she shouldn’t have and you take it off her she gets aggressive I sound pathetic for this but it really hurts 😓

Srsly, fk cancer 🤗
My little dude curated one hell of a tumor (he really is such a show off). On the mend from having that removed before starting aggressive radiation.
this whole situation has broken my heart. He will be okay, I think. I am so fortunate to be able to get him this care, even if it does financially devastate me. I am not rich, so far from it. I am privileged enough to have had insurance for him, which will cover 70% of the 30k bill. But I forever hope people learn to zip their mouths when people can’t foot such an insane bill. The options are so limited. $$ doesn’t make you more worthy of a dog owner. Everyone deserves to know this kind of connection and love. Vet costs are astronomical… my heart absolutely breaks for folks who can’t get the medical attention these little guys need sometimes.
We give them the best lives we can. I’m thankful for every moment I get with him. If people can, they will. If they can’t, they are hurting more than anything a stranger says to them on the internet. I hope this helps as a reminder that compassion is free.
(Side note, if anyone has any cheap recipes I should check out, I am very much looking! 😅)

Birthdays & Gotcha Days 🎉 She turns 1 today!
Got this crazy pup we named pepper from a farm when she was 8 weeks old back in January. She turns one today. I got her to help with my anxiety and stress. Shes a smart pup, full of energy, loves everyone and everything and does excellent around the cats. Couldn’t have asked for a better more loyal dog than her.

Birthdays & Gotcha Days 🎉 Happiest 6th birthday to this baby ❤️
This girl just turned 6 years old! Time has really flown by and I’m so grateful for our pandemic puppy. I brought her home in December 2020 at 8 weeks old and her birth name was Willow. She was too rough and tough to be a Willow so we tried a few names out and she responded to Bowie. She’s been Bowie ever since.
Bowie is such a sweet, tough, loving, intelligent and goofy girl. She loves sticks, herding my husband, me and her sister, and loves being told she’s a good girl. We also discovered that she loves Harry Styles’ music because she likes to “dance” with me whenever his songs play. Bowie has lived in New Jersey, Philadelphia, many places in Germany, the Netherlands and traveled across the EU too. She’s such a good girl and deserves all the treats.

Follow up on Nori the BC puppy
It’s only been 5days since my last post about my pup who seemed out of control…
Reading through your comments was very encouraging and helpful and it really did put my mind at ease. More importantly, it gave me confidence in my ability to train and control her behavior.
In less than a week her behavior change has become truly exceptional. When I made the post, we had had her in our home for 10 days. Now that she has begun to understand the routines and manners, she has become such a lovable little baby.
Her biting has dramatically lowered. She will now look at my pant leg, maybe give it a little nibble then let go. Maybe only happens twice a day. Some times she come pouncing towards my shoe and I’m thinking “here we go again” and she just gives is a sniff and moves on to something else. I reward her for this behavior. We are working on some commands that used to terrify me that she would bite. The command Come I put my hand out palm facing her and she boops it with her nose. Paw is another one where I present my hand to her and she givers her paw. Both of these commands involve me offering her my hand which she used to just bite, now she knows to interact with it a different way.
She is learning her commands so quickly and is getting better at commands at attention to us when there are exciting things going on. She still needs to work on following direction when she is fixated but I know in time that will come.
Again I want to thank everyone because I was feeling drained and helpless there for a minute. Hearing your thoughts and stories gave me confidence that I could do it and I think Nori has picked up on that confidence I have with her now.
Please see attached pictures of my sweet girl
When she starts getting tired, she will just sit and look at me. Such a relief

TW gross: Why is my dog eating other dogs’ poop?
Question explains itself. He especially likes his best friend’s poop who lives next door. I’m sorry for the gross question but I seriously cannot handle it. And he came inside and threw it up the other day. He’s a 3 year old border/aussie mix. He is a grazer when he eats and extremely food motivated. Thanks in advance 😭

Freya in the forest
Our sweet girl is a tricolour but it's hard to see unless you look closely. She has one tiny tan eyebrow, some tan on her cheek and tan ticking spots on her legs.

Birthdays & Gotcha Days 🎉 Its my best good boy Koda's 2nd birthday! 🥳
This good boy deserves all the love and celebration! I'm infinitely thankful for all the joy, happiness, and greatness he brings to the world. He is the smartest and sweetest boy. He's taught me so many lessons, and while his puppy stage brought me to my knees, I would do it all over again. He's one of the best friends I've ever had ❤️❤️❤️ I can't wait to take him on even more adventures!

2024 total solar eclipse - unphased
Meet Nori
I had a feeling he’d have no reaction to the (2024) total solar eclipse, so I filmed him staring at his ball through the eclipse for over 10 minutes while the sky went from full day to full night
The world could be burning and as long as he has his thing to fixate on, all is good in his world

Our young boy..
Hi! I’m looking for some advice and hoping to hear from people who have had similar experiences.
Our Border Collie is 13 months old. We’ve worked with two different trainers for two months each to help with loose-leash walking, but nothing seems to stick. He lunges in all directions and pulls so hard that he passes out. We’ve tried a limited-slip collar and a harness. A front-clip harness isn’t an option because he’s had surgery on his shoulder joints, and our vet advised against it.
He was very insecure and would pull towards female dogs, lick every patch of urine, hump things and whine, so we tried chemical castration. Things may be a little better now, but he still gets completely worked up around female dogs and seems able to smell them from kilometres away.
In the woods, he loses all interest in us and pulls towards every wildlife scent and bird sound. It feels like he wants to chase and eat everything in the forest. Letting him off the leash is completely out of the question, as he’s been ignoring recall entirely for the past six months. We’ve practised on football pitches, in the woods, at home and elsewhere, but he just ignores us and either lies down or heads in the opposite direction. We’ve tried toys, play and treats, but nothing seems to work.
We’ve also tried training in enclosed areas, but these seem to trigger his herding behaviour. He drops to the ground and completely freezes. We’ve had to carry him out, stiff as a statue, so fenced enclosures don’t seem to work for him either.
We honestly don’t know how to give him enough physical exercise anymore.
Almost all his food is used for training. We also have lots of puzzle feeders and toys at home, so he gets mental stimulation through working for his food, searching, shredding and digging. He sleeps well between activities.
Has anyone experienced anything similar, or have any advice?
