Dude - 3 month old Border Collie mix (RIP my fingers)
r/BorderCollie • u/NefariousnessOld57 • 3h ago
Hello, this is our Border/Aussie—just wanted to show her off; hope we’re welcome here!
She is currently 1 year and 2 months old. Her mother is a gentle, brown Australian Shepherd who works as a therapy dog for traumatized children—a trait that is also evident in Frea, who seems to have inherited some of those qualities.
Her father is a tri-colored Border Collie.

Puppy aggression
THE CULPRIT BTW
I don’t have any photos or videos but my almost 9 week old puppy had started being really aggressive like growling and locking onto pants/hands/ankles or literally whatever she can find.. We’ve tried force naps, yelping, ‘air jail’ and toy redirect which works for a few second but she gets bored and comes back to latch to your pants ffs nothing really chills her out. She’s not like this all the time mainly when she has something she shouldn’t have and you take it off her she gets aggressive I sound pathetic for this but it really hurts 😓

Birthdays & Gotcha Days 🎉 She turns 1 today!
Got this crazy pup we named pepper from a farm when she was 8 weeks old back in January. She turns one today. I got her to help with my anxiety and stress. Shes a smart pup, full of energy, loves everyone and everything and does excellent around the cats. Couldn’t have asked for a better more loyal dog than her.

Just wanted to share
So measured our girl tonight because we were curious. 9mo pup.
28inches withers to tail.. 20" tall. I don't think we did the length measurement before, but that's up from 19" tall at 6mos. Our last border collie (male) was 21" at withers, 27" in length at maturity.
Kind of cracks me up, this girl is much meatier overall (just as athletic but you don't feel like she's nearly as bird-boned), but she's actually longer than he was despite being a bit shorter. Haven't weighed her recently, but I'd guess she probably pans at his mature weight.. she's tucked-belly but she's overall a much more solid girl than he was (she cracks into your legs at full speed, you know it.. and she very often cracks into your legs at full speed)
Anyway, just thought I'd share. It's fun watching her grow.. she is not, by any means, a big dog (and tbh that's been the one thing I've missed as someone who used to own labs.. I'd love the breed in rough collie size LOL)
Need new pics, although I suspect she won't look much different than the last batch, so here's one from a month ago for tax.

looking forever home
❤️ Sweet Sophie is looking for her forever home. She’s a ~4-year-old, 42-lb Collie mix who is gentle, affectionate, mellow, great with children and other dogs, but not a good fit with cats.
As a working parent with a young child, I’ve realized I can’t give her the time and care she deserves long-term. I’m continuing to foster her for now, but she may need to return to the rescue if a home isn’t found soon.
She’s such a sweet dog and deserves a loving forever family. Please message me if interested, and I’ll connect you with her rescue. ❤️

TW gross: Why is my dog eating other dogs’ poop?
Question explains itself. He especially likes his best friend’s poop who lives next door. I’m sorry for the gross question but I seriously cannot handle it. And he came inside and threw it up the other day. He’s a 3 year old border/aussie mix. He is a grazer when he eats and extremely food motivated. Thanks in advance 😭

Injury 🩹 (may contain graphic photos) Stitches on neck
Hi everyone!
My girl had an accident in the park yesterday which resulted in her having stitches. The vet sent her home with a cone which she HATES so I purchased a fabric one to try instead...surprise, surprise she hates that too 😂 i cant use one of the doughnut style ones because that would sit directly on the stitches
Is there anything else I can try? I have one of those hoods for fireworks that I could loosen and put over her neck (its not tight!) But im concerned this could rub against the area...but when she was spayed she had a surgical vest to wear and that healed absolutely fine.
This is day 2, and last night was our first night with the cone. It was horrendous, she kept trying to pull it off so I tied it to her harness. It did stay on overnight but I barely slept because I was worried she'd pull it off.
I can of course suck it up and just keep to attaching it to the harness overnight. As she isnt interested in the stitches, ive been mostly leaving it off in the day which has been approved by the vets.
Im also worried about leaving her alone but I have work tomorrow (only 4 hrs) and im worried about leaving her in the cone.
Does anyone have any advice?
