This is not the place for the weak-hearted cyclists ;-) It is a true exercise in management of all senses while cycling. Today I will be cycling in Tanzania’s largest city, Dar es Salaam (Africa). If there was ever a vibrant and hectic city. See for yourself! In part 1, I will spend most of my time along hectic Morogoro Road in the west of the city. Along the way is Manzese, supposedly one of the worst areas of Dar.

Started recording at the red light, this is after she honks at me down the whole previous block. Mind you that was down hill, so I was riding close to the speed limit anyway. Sorry for the poor cameramanship. I did manage to capture her pleasant gesture if you look closely.

Anyone who's ridden the streets of HK can tell you that it's the most unforgiving place on earth to ride a bike.

This time of the year, any cyclist has to battle the relentless heat and humidity, the many buses, the cramped and winding streets, the hills, the super high urban density, and the lack of cycling infrastructure. On top of that, I biked during a black weather alert and a few hours before starting a huze thunderstorm hit the area. Never a dull moment when in Hong Kong. In part 2, I bike from east to west, past gorgeous and awestriking views. I really enjoyed the countless views of skyscrapers everywhere!

I've started recording my rides through this stretch as it is where I have the most conflicts with drivers. No events today, pretty calm and quiet. I did have a 12mph wind in my face the whole way though, so I had to ride slow. Video is sped up 2.5x.

Even after braking hard enough that their tires squealed, they were still carrying speed through the intersection. Very thankful that they started paying attention in time to miss me and that the truck behind me was turning instead of going straight. Otherwise, there's no way they would've avoided them.
Also ignore the random date on my front cam. Its been doing this weird thing where sometimes the date and time settings get reset if the battery gets fully drained, and I didn't notice it until looking at the footage from today.
