Hi all, I wanted to share this post. Bats in Australia are starving to death en masse. Survival depends on the help of volunteers and rescues that are in need of support. The following link leads to a post (post contains photos of dead bats NSFW): https://www.instagram.com/reel/Denc7X-hPxp/?xtok=anJxdmJ4ajVidnp2

This guy was laying on the ground when I went out to use the bathroom, he was still alive cause I could see him breathing pretty quickly and he moved when I accidentally scraped my shoe on the floor, but I told my teacher about him and she called a resource officer so hopefully he’s ok

Thank you everyone who offered advice on my first post about bats on the ground in downtown Chicago! I found this little guy today and it was rescued by a volunteer!

edit with some more info!

I called around to the contacts listed on batworld (including batworld! Thanks automod) and talked to multiple lovely people who helped coordinate this rescue! The local contact I spoke with who found someone to pick it up told me that they’ve rescued multiple downed bats from my building and apparently they like have issues with this particular architects work.

My boss definitely thought I was insane when I asked if I’d “hypothetically” get fired for bringing a bat in a box into work but did help me gather materials and give me permission to leave and care for it if I wanted to! The volunteer who picked it up did do all the handling!

Extremely thankful to all to helped today and I will continue to look for bats and get help when I find them!

We put a bat house up on August 13th this year, after evening bats had taken up residence in our pool umbrella. So exciting when 9 days later we saw 7 exit for the evening!

Last night we counted the most yet, with 42 coming out!!

Came back to school after a 3 day weekend to find 2 bats real close to each other, and then a 3rd bat chilling in the next building over

I was able to hand-feed a baby vampire bat.
This was years ago but it is still one of the happiest moments of my life!

While out for a walk yesterday I saw this little bat on a ledge in our downtown area. At first I thought it was deceased but upon a closer look it was alive. Got some pics right before it flew off.

I love silver haired bats and scooped this one up to go to get checked out at the nature center and will hopefully get released tomorrow! Just wanted to share this beaut 🖤🩶

Also I was wearing gloves and put it in my Bat World Sanctuary bat hut so we were both safe 🤭

If y'all wanna see 20k bats leave a beautiful cave in KY, be sure to tune in at sunset CST! A gorgeous bat preserve helping to protect an endangered gray bat species.

i was just net surfing about rabies and bats in india and i came across some web article that told there is basically no evidence of rabid bats in india or probability of finding a bat which can transmit rabies is very rare!!
so I’ve shifted to Kolkata recently and I’ve been seeing bats like almost every night/evening : and by seeing bats so frequently i get quite tensed about getting rabies now days!!
i would appreciate if you can write down something really informative

I’ve found three bats on the ground outside my office in downtown Chicago. The first 2 were on very cold days last winter and I just saw this one today (it’s warm - around 70). They’ve all been in a similar spot and like the one in the photo.

I’m pretty sure they’ve all been alive (tagged nsfw in case I’m wrong) but I don’t know if this is normal bat behavior. Do they need help when they’re like this?

This is a large office building right downtown with pretty heavy foot traffic. I’ve reported them to 311 but I don’t know if they do anything.

(Mods, since it's Bat Month, I'm only increasing the posts for this month! 😅)

Out of curiosity. I’ve walked past this spot before but hadn’t noticed him until now
