New pedalboard build ! 😍

Let me know your thoughts! Pretty happy with how it came out but would to hear any improvements you think it would benefit from

Putting the SY1 in the effects loop of the hx stomp is an absolute gamechanger and for me changes the pedal from being a bit of a novelty / party trick to being actually incredibly useful in real situations - for example now I can put fuzz on just the clean signal and then blend back with the synth after.

Signal chain is:

MXR Bass Compressor to Boss SY-1

Boss SY-1 (Dry out) to Zvex Mastotron

Boss SY-1 (Synth out) to HX Stomp Effects Loop Return

Zvex Mastotron to HX Stomp Input

HX Stomp to MXR Layers

Anyone use one of these as a fly rig? Just a Valeton Dapper Bass.

Has compression and boost, Q-Tron envelope filter with fuzz toggle, a pretty decent preamp section, octave with octave 1 and 2 down and a simple chorus. Has onboard tuner as well.

Outputs include XLR balanced, an FX loop for additional pedals (my Mooer Shimverb is in there in one pic) and a througput unbalanced 1/4” jack as well.

For something that can be tossed into a gig bag, it’s pretty awesome. 😎. I’ve had a lot of fun playing around with this.

Haven’t gigged it before- I always used my Behringer BDI21 for that. Great cheap SansAmp clone that I’ve used to nail the Ampeg tone with on tight stages where my amp wouldn’t be practical. As you can see- it tucks into the case with my Jazz bass for easy load in/load out. Nice!!!

I have other bass pedals as well- Boss CL-3 compressor/limiter, and the Boss CB-3 bass chorus pedal both of which I find excellent and useful. I should set up a small board with those pedals and maybe an overdrive going into the Behringer DI box.

Well- that’s what I got. Any suggestions or pointers on overdrives or upgrades?? I’m intrigued by the SansAmp VT preamp. Any thoughts on that??

Thanks for checking it out!! 😎😎😉🎸

My favorite build from my pedalboard journey.
These days, I’m just rocking the Anagram. Sold everything else and honestly, no regrets. It’s compact, reliable, and gives me all the flexibility I need.

I can dial a great clean tone, slap tone and more importantly it can synth (<< check out my vids in these links)

Solidgoldfx Beta Drive - was highly praised about ten years ago, and I don’t think I ever see people use it any more. It’s my “always on” pedal, it beefs up the signal sooo nicely

For two bands I need only tuner and compressor. And I was completely happy when pedals roaming free at floor. Then u/seahoodie send picture of his mini board, and suddenly I could not stand that my pedals are roaming free at floor.

I'm putting the SONICAKE Matribox II Pro to the test to see what this versatile guitar & bass amp modeler can really do for metal guitar & bass tones! I’d really appreciate it if you shared your thoughts on it in the YouTube comments!

do i need a compressor?

i have a Darkglass microtubes infinity which i plan to put at the end of my chain for the cab sim and compressor and i also got a tech 21 bass fly rig preamp with a compressor as well for a more cleaner sound but i like combining them both along with all my other effects but anyways should i buy a standalone compressor pedal or just use the 2 pre amps along with the basshead i have also has a compressor built in if i plug into the front

Looking for a relatively cheap multi-modulation pedal

Hello basspedals, I am looking for a relatively cheap (under 150€) multi-modulation pedal for my bass pedalboard.

I would like it to have at least the following effects:
- phaser,
- chorus,
- flanger.

It should be the size of a standard pedal (or smaller), and should preferably have a blend control.

I have identified two possible candidates:
- NUX Mod Core Deluxe MKII (~90€)
- Klowra Sprout (~130€)
I have also thought about buying a Zoom multi-fx pedal, but I prefer having physical knobs.

The Sprout seems to have much more features, but I have read on Thomann a couple of people complaining about volume loss when the pedal is active. The Mod Core has the parallel loop feature, but I'm not sure I would use it besides for a clean blend, do you have any opinion on this?

Thank you in advance!

Edit: formatting.
Edit 2: added info on Zoom pedals.

Small updates to the stereo bass board

After my first tour with this board, it needed some TLC, and I needed to rethink my layout slightly.

The USB cable I used to power the tuner broke when someone else set up my pedalboard one night. So I switched to the normal barrel jack and daisy chained one pedal off the tuner. Easier said than done with 14 zip ties to undo/redo.

The little red pedalnetics switch was originally on the MXR pedal — which I used to switch presets — but I would misstep often on one part of the set where I had to make a tight shoegaze maneuver while singing at the same time. So I moved it to the adjacent Deco. Now those two pedals are married.

Swapped the 3 Leaf Proton with the Doom 2. I only used the envelope filter for one part of the set. The fuzz sounds so gnarly after the capo preamp.

Trace Elliot Transit-B Preamp for a "noob" gigging bass player ?

Hi guys,

A quick question because I have a choice to make... maybe you'll help me ?

I am a long time guitar player with pedalboard and all,
but for a band I am playing with for 1 1/2 year I am learning to play the bass.

So I bought a bass, I learned the songs and I bought the most inexpensive bass amp that I could :
My band is very "garage" and so I play with earplug because everybody play so loud and I am not that young anymore... so I just needed an amp that could play loud.

ANYWAY.
Those day, I just plug my bass directly into a Fishman Platinum Pro, and then frim the fishman into the "return" of my amp. (the preamp part of the amp is really shitty).

For our 4 firsts gigs I asked the sound guy to go directly from the XLR out of the Fishman into the DI and I used my shitty amp as a personnal return : it did the trick and I am happy with that.

The problem is that the Fishman Platinum Pro I found was in bad shape and from time to time there is a bad connexion and so, I must change it. The Fishman did the trick, but I didn't really enjoyed using it. So I am on the look for a "not to expensive but good enough" preamp.

I stumbled upon a 200euros Trace Elliot Transit-B Preamp.

So my question is : will it do the trick ? Should I go with a twice the price Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Fly Rig V2 ? Should I go with a 5 times the price Darkglass Anagram ?

What I want is : a good tuner, a good compressor, a good preamp AND (most important) a good xlr out.

What do you think guys ? I play with hardly no drive at all.

I love electro harmonix if that wasn’t apparent enough. I love doing textural swells and chords during quiet moments that aren’t as bass heavy, and the volume+memory man is truly amazing for that.

C4 Synth

I bought a used C4 the other day. Admittedly, I know nothing about setting up a modular synth. Nonetheless, I downloads some presets, and tried creating some basic single voice presets. What I’ve found:

1.) It doesn’t seem to track very consistently. I know my technique isn’t elite. But the pedal seems to get confused very easily. I’m not even playing very fast.

2.) I get a lot of “farting” during transient attacks. I’d like to think I’ve tried everything - turning input gain down, passive bass, turning down volume on bass, playing softer, a compressor pedal right before it, as well as some filter and envelope settings AI suggested I change. I just cannot seem to lose that “fart” on the initial string plucks. And it mostly happens in the midrange notes.

If anyone has any suggestions, I’d appreciate it. Otherwise I think I’m just going to get rid of it right away.

TIA!

PS - I’ve been using a Fender Jaguar bass (4 string) with stainless roundwounds.

EQD Blumes into Hizumitas?

Has anyone ever tried this combo? I know Wata uses a DS-1 as a clean booster for her hizumitas so I wanted to try and replicate that for bass and I tought that the blumes would be a good idea for a booster that adds a little bit of girth as well.

Sell Downtown Express???

I’m thinking about upgrading my pedal board after a number of years because I’ve never given it the respect it deserves. I currently use a downtown express fender multi fx and a boss tuner, it’s not much but it’s honest work. Is it worth selling and getting all 3 components in 3 separate pedals or should I keep it?

I wonder how this would sound? Do you think this would “hiss” like crazy?

Im trying to build a modern bass pedal within the budget.
Its an AI generated photo (i know)
As a visual reference this would be what would it look like for my setup.
My question is would there be a lot of hissing noise coming from all that distortion or gain?
Im Trying to pull off a modern metal bass tone,
Kinda something similar to the band knocked loose.

Recently added the blumes to my tech death project board and I'm really happy with it. The way it interacts with b7k as mainly an always on boost is exactly what I was looking for. I have the blumes set to basically edge of breakup, and it really tightens everything up before hitting the b7k and I can run less drive on the b7k as well.

Eq on b7k might seem extreme but with the current bass I'm using Ive found these settings sound best in a very crowded tech death mix.

Next thing I'm going to add is an hx stomp, mostly for some split crossover frequency routing without having a complicated signal chain with something like the KMA Tyler. Should be cheaper as well.

Thoughts and criticism are welcome!

Neatest power cable situation?

I see a lot of pics of boards with neat short patch leads, but 9V cables flying everywhere

I guess in this sub to some extent it’s due to swapping things about and experimenting.

But I do wonder: What solutions are we coming up with for powering 5+ pedals without it looking like someone threw a bowl of thin black spaghetti on the stage?
