Ordered from Memory express - ordered cancelled and they asked me to pay through e transfer

Hello,

I placed an order for a pc from memory express today in the morning. I had the billing address the same as my shipping address and I paid through my credit card.

While checking out, CIBC sent me a 6 digit code that I entered on their website and the order went through successfully. Right after I got a message from CIBC fraud asking me if it was me buying from Memory express and asked me to reply with a Y or N. I did and they told me that I might need to check with the merchant to confirm that the order went through.

The order showed as in process the whole day and then at 6 pm I got an email from Memory express telling me that due to a payment issue, my order was cancelled. They told me that the money would be refunded to my account however they told me that I could pay through e-transfer and still get my order.

I trust memory express and the email that I have got is from their memory express domain however I am a bit worried, did this happen to anyone before?

First PC

Looking to buy my first PC and was looking at getting a prebuild because it seems like the best bang for my buck while also being really new to this.

Ideally want to game in 1080p with options for potential upgrades in the future

I also was hoping to be able to do my video editing on this pc

Budget is around $2000 ideally and I found this and was wondering for honest opinions

https://www.newegg.ca/p/N82E16883320018

( i know a $2000 budget isn’t the best in today’s market but I’d love to know the best options available )

Any help would be great

Should I just wait for a better deal and jump around Best Buy’s for open boxes? I’ve seen the stone forge one for 1700 however it comes with 16gb ram whereas this alr has 32.

Discussion Looking for help building or buying a gaming pc!

Where do I start? I am leaning towards a prebuilt as they seem cheaper..

What specs do I need for playing a game like wardogs at 1440 120fps on high or mostly high settings?

My research tells me I should aim for a 7800x3d with a rx5070 xt or rtx 5070 ti.

Unfortunately there dosenr seme to be alot of prebuilt options and the prices in general are insane.

I'm hoping to spend around 3k, give or take bit..

Thank you

Build Request / Review First pc-complete beginner

Context: I have a budget of 2000cad for both the pc+monitor setup. I rather look into a prebuilt as I have no idea where to get started in building one. Also if I am to get a pc how hard is it to set up once it arrives.
What specs should I look into for future proofing along with reliability.

I want it for gaming ofc ;)

Going from Mac mini M4 + PS5 to my first PC around $1,500 CAD, any tips?

This is my first time ever doing this type of thing of selling and I don’t know what I’m doing.

I’m looking to get into the PC world and I want to sell a PS5 console (been using it for 3-4 years no scratches just dust), two PS5 controllers, and a Mac mini M4 2024 (16GB memory, 256GB) to pay for a PC. I’m in Ontario and my budget is around $1,400–$1,600 CAD after tax if I theoretically sold everything that I mentioned.

I have some AAA games but I do play some Baldur's Gate, CyberPunk, Red Dead 2, but I don't play them all the time. Honestly, I am just looking for any ways to sell this and a good computer at this range

could you guys help a brother out?

Build Request / Review Gaming PC Suggestions with a (decently) high budget

Hello all! I've built a few computers in my past, but I've been really pushing my last one to its limits and I think it's time to pull the trigger and spend some money on a new one. I have a decently high budget of around $5k (though my wife would probably appreciate it if it's lower). It's also not set in stone if there is something super enticing to show me! Also, this budget might not even be decently high anymore given the state of the economics of PCs right now.

While my time to play games has reduced dramatically, I don't want to ever worry about my computer being able to run a game. I've everything from MMOs, Multiplayer Shooters, JRPGs, really anything that interests me. I was playing BG3 for a while, but I ended up having to stop playing multiplayer because of the quality.

I was silly and was hesitating to buy because I was hoping the prices would normalize, but that no longer seems to be the case. I have all of the peripherals (monitor included), so the budget would be just for the PC.

I'm open to building again, but it might be smarter to just go with a pre-built this time, as I've heard that they have gotten a lot better. I don't have ready access to any shops near where I am, so I would likely need to buy from a place that will deliver.

None of parts on my current machine are usable as I'm planning on continuing to use it for other purposes, so it's pretty much a from-scratch build or purchase.

My monitor: LG UltraWide 34WP65C-B 34 Inch 21:9 Curved FreeSync 1ms 160 Hz

Also, if I've picked the worst possible time to do this, I would appreciate being told not to as well!

Thanks!

Build Request / Review RGB memory worth it?

With the current market, I'm not able to look for a real performance upgrade that's worth it, so I've shifted to aesthetics. With this however, I'm wondering if it's worth selling my current 32gb ddr5 kit and buying one with rgb. I'm leaning towards no pretty strongly, but wanted other opinions (even though I can imagine what the answer will be)
