question Opinions on Banbury Bicester College?
Been thinking of doing a digital software development T level. If anyone has had any personal experiences with staff and/or people, I'd love to hear.

A new Discord server has been made for this community. Whilst it may not be buzzing with life, it could be a good way for locals to connect and share / discuss news.
If you have any suggestions, feel free to drop them here or in the server.

Hello everyone!
We’re a family of three (plus a dog) looking to move from South London to one of the villages around Banbury or Bicester.
We’ve completely fallen in love with the area, particularly Deddington and Adderbury, but we’re a little worried about the reality of commuting to London regularly.
My husband needs to be in the office in Waterloo around 3–4 days a week. From what we’ve looked at so far, the door-to-door journey would be close to two hours each way. We’d also be open to him staying overnight in London one night a week if that made things more manageable.
Does anyone here commute from these villages to London regularly, or know someone who does? We’d love to hear what the commute is actually like day to day, including reliability, how tiring it gets, and whether it’s sustainable in the long run.
We’re particularly interested in hearing from anyone living in Deddington or Adderbury, but we’d also consider Long Hanborough if the commute is more manageable from there.
We’d really appreciate any honest experiences or advice before making such a big move. Are we being unrealistic, or is it doable with a bit of planning?
Thanks so much! 😊

Dad died recently and I've been trying to remember the names of the shops he used to take me to.
This would have been 1987-91 ish
First was near the market square, somewhere around where McDonalds used to be. Sold Airfix models, Tamiya RC Cars.
Other one was a computer game shop, the entrance was just a doorway and you went straight up some stairs to the next floor where the games were. Not sure where that one was but got a feeling it was around George Street or Broad Street.

Hi all! I recently moved to Banbury and I'm looking to meet some new people. I'm learning to play the guitar (almost intermediate!), so if anyone's up for a casual jam session, I'd love to join in and learn a thing or two.
I'm also keen to play badminton if anyone's looking for a partner or has a regular group I could join.
Feel free to DM me. Thanks, and looking forward to getting to know the area!

Hi all,
Has anyone had experience with the red-light camera around Longbridge roundabout, particularly when heading towards the M40?
I was behind a large vehicle and there was traffic blocking the entrance to the roundabout. I crossed the stop line while the traffic light was green, but before I could actually enter the roundabout, the light changed to red.
I stopped and stayed there rather than continuing into the roundabout on red. When the lights turned green again, I continued.
So basically:
Crossed the stop line on green → couldn’t enter the roundabout because of traffic → light changed to red → stopped and waited → continued on the next green.
Has anyone experienced the same thing at Longbridge? Could the red-light camera still issue a ticket even though I crossed the stop line while the signal was green?
Has anyone actually received a ticket from this particular camera?

Hello! I am coming to Banbury (house is in Cropedy) in a few weeks times for a hen do and we are looking for good takeaway options in the area to deliver on a Saturday evening. Please can anyone recommend good takeaways that deliver to Cropedy. Is there anywhere that’s not your usual Indian, pizzas etc? But also if it’s good please recommend!

I’m looking to rent in Banbury short term for work purposes - a studio or granny flat with bills included would be ideal.
Any advice on how to start looking would be great!

Hi all,
I'm posting here on behalf of the UK Green Film Network to draw attention to an upcoming screening at The Light on May 20th - The People's Emergency Briefing. It's a terribly insightful and timely film to draw attention to the climate and nature crisis faced by the UK (and the world).
If you have any thoughts on the topic or film, these screenings are also platforms for public discussion and we'd greatly appreciate hearing your thoughts!

Great local Fest for original music in Banbury in support of BARKS charity. The Apothecary Tap is a great supporter of local talent from Oxfordshire and further. Such a great music scene in Banbury and a break for the mad world.

Hi, I’ve just moved to the area and usually do Click & Collect for my shopping. I’ve seen that the Tesco on Oxford Road in Brackley offers it, but I can’t find any info on where you actually collect from.
Normally there’s a designated hut or collection point, so I just wanted to check where it is before I book.
If anyone knows, I’d really appreciate the help!
(I know Brackley is separate to Banbury, but there doesn’t seem to be an active Brackley subreddit to ask in.)

Hey everyone,
I’m moving to Banbury for work soon and wanted to get an idea of what monthly expenses look like. I’m a 25M and planning to rent a 1BHK—would love to hear what I should expect in terms of rent, utilities, groceries, and general cost of living.
Any insights or rough breakdowns would really help!

Saw Claudia Winkleman in the small Timpsons, next to Sainsburys, on Saturday. They had one of the blinds down so I presume something was being filmed. But does anyone know why, and what it was for.

Hiya, if anyone knows of a private landlord who is a bit more open minded than the estate agents (not a credit/rent issue - unusual household make up…) and has anything in Banbury - preferably with a decent sized third room, please feel free to DM me - I’d love to hear from you. Thanks!
