Self-Made Bad UI Breakout keyboard
Made a text input where you type by playing breakout.
The keyboard is a wall of bricks, and whatever key the ball hits gets typed. Keys break when hit and grow back a few seconds later, so to reach R for example, you have to dig through half the alphabet. Drop the ball and you lose a letter. Hit the enter key and it submits whatever's "typed" so far

Request [Request] Help make bad UI worse, for the better
Hi -- an instructor built a bad UI challenge and asked me to get feedback on how to make it worse (in ways that actually happen IRL), and also how to make it more interesting and/or fun!
Reddit filters are opaque--I am guessing I have to put the link in comments below to get this to post.

Found in the Wild Is it just me or does it annoy you too that YouTube moved the "search on channel" to where the normal search would be?

Found in the Wild Choose city from a dropdown list
https://reddit.com/link/1wti232/video/1p9w9jcm5ish1/player
we love a good dropdown menu for something that should under no circumstances be a dropdown menu. They didn't even get rid of the duplicate city names lol. (This is on the signup for the inmusic website, which I was using to register a midi keyboard)

Found in the Wild Sorting country code almost by country name
This finnish train app requires adding a phone number without the ability to enter the country code. instead you need to select it from this list. Showing just flags although there is sufficient space for the country name. The order is consistent across 3 languages english, finnish and swedish.

Bad UI Rant: websites/apps with dark mode option set to light instead of automatic
WTF do so many websites and apps have a dark mode, yet they default to light mode rather than automatic?!
Of course now that I'm posting I can't find a good example... here's one, though in their defence they've marked it "Beta". https://en.wiktionary.org/

Found in the Wild 4-column time selector on an airport sleeping pods website
The website is obviously AI-generated, but this time selector is so ridiculous it must have been someone's interference.
