Question Is there a way to fix this?

The right strap always gets crumbled like this, it’s never happened on the other strap before. I’m pretty sure the backpack I have is the Hailey strategic Flatpack plus btw.

Helikon Tex Bail Out Bag

I have been using the Helikon-Tex Bail Out Bag for a few years now. It is pretty unique with all its different features and it has a surprising number of uses. It’s particularly well suited to working from vehicles or for anyone who likes to keep their gear organised, protected and readily accessible.

One of the things that makes it unique is the rigid, structured design that provides its contents with a high level of protection compared with most conventional packs. I don't know of any other  general use pack that does this.

While the 23-litre capacity is a touch small IMHO, it can be attached to a car seat for quick access to your gear or unfolded and used as a sleeping mat. The detachable beavertail pouch is another useful feature, working well as a grab bag when you need to carry essential gear separately.

The BOB is a bit of a niche product, so it won’t suit everyone. But it is very good at what it does and offers a capability not found in other packs. As usual Helikons build quality is great and gives good value for money.

Question Backpack for commute running - alternatives to Talon Velocity?

Hi everyone!

I am looking for a backpack for running. I want to use it for two purposes: Day trips in the woods and commuting from work. The latter is just 10km but I will be carrying a 14'' laptop, a pair of shoes, and clothes. Top priority is durability and comfort. I don't care whether its 1 or 3 pounds. Tried out the Rab Veil 30 and Osprey Talon Velocity 30 today. Neither felt really good with a laptop in it, but I liked the heavier material of the Osprey much better.

Any alternatives to the Osprey Velocity?

Thanks!

Question Reporter’s backpack - ideas?

Hello folks, I’m a bit lost in my search so I thought where better than good old Reddit!

I’m a TV news reporter in the UK. I self-shoot a lot of my reports and edit them too. I have camera bags for my camera kit but I’m in need of a new backpack for my edit kit (16” MacBook Pro, charger, mouse, SSD) + notebooks, lunch etc.

I did look at camera backpacks (something from lowepro) but I don’t need to fill it full of camera kit so the dividers would be useless. It would occasionally hold legal books and a basic change of clothes so something that can expand would be useful.

Bonus if it comes in navy.

Thanks in advance,
BunkerNerd

CCW backpack

ey all! I just discovered this sub and was hoping you could help with my search for a daily backpack I can use. I want slash need to be able to use it for work and EDC items. I don't need much for work, just my tablet and room for a couple folios. Sometimes I toss in an extra shirt in case I get filthy during the day. I also want a dedicated CCW compartment, and preferably sized to fit under an airplane seat for when I have to travel. One bag to rule them all.

Right now I'm considering the Vertx Ready Pack X. Any experience with these? Any other recommendations?

Edit: nothing molle or tactical looking please. I want it to appear completely inconspicuous.

Question What small everyday item do you try to keep as compact as possible?

When choosing a backpack, it's easy to focus on capacity, comfort, and organization, but I think the smaller things we carry also make a difference to how comfortable and practical our setup feels.

Wallets are a good example. Some people prefer a traditional wallet, while others prefer slim cardholders that take up less pocket space. I, PunCube, explore mechanical wallets designed around compact storage and quick card access.

For those who carry a backpack regularly, what small everyday item have you downsized to make your setup more practical? Was the change actually worth it, or did you find that the original option worked just as well?

Need to do Laundry ? Need a coffee , look at it ! ( I am doing it for free.. )

Hey all !!

I made a website for you, travellers!

www.coffee-n-laundry.com

It shows you where the good coffee spots are, AND ! where you can do your laundry.

(No Tim Hortons or Starbucks please… ) I want real barista places.

The idea is that everyone keeps the locations updated… you verify and update a place when you go, so the next person knows what to expect.

I built it because I could never find on google maps decent infos on laundromats. Do they take cards? Do they sell detergent, or is it included in the machine? Are they even still open? Bla bla bla. That stuff is often hard to find when you actually need it.

No idea if it'll help anyone, honestly. But I need people to add locations!!! Then others use the site and update the info themselves.

The site has probably many bugs still, I will keep working on it ! Please share idea.

I am not looking to put stars or a rating systems on locations. That’s not the goal.

I'm not trying to make money off it. Maybe a very low subscription next year, maybe nothing at all. If I ever charge anything, it's just to cover the maintenance fees

Here it is, for you:

www.coffee-n-laundry.com

Thanks !
