News The Breakfast Club names Khuslen Saruultuya, the Florida man who shot the Uber driver for stalking his gf at her home, the "Donkey of the day"
I get that the whole segment is about clowning someone, but Lenard decides to be racist right off the bat as he starts the segment by making fun of Khuslen's name with Jess cackling like a hag at it in the background.
And while he makes sure to let the audience know that Khuslen is being charged with drug possession too by bringing it up repeatedly, he conveniently leaves out the part where the driver came back at 3:25 AM at the woman's home to ask for her number despite her saying no the first time around like a psychotic stalker. All to frame Khuslen as an insecure bf who's apparently also dumb as rocks too, deserving of the donkey title.

Diaspora Experience Asians for the win again. This time in Scotland
The far-right is on the rise in Scotland for the first time, well, EVER really and Musk is boosting them so when you start hearing about things happening there through the lens of far-right talking heads on social media, keep these stats in mind as to the REAL reason why the native Scots might be falling behind.
FSM is Free School Meals eligibly, it's a standard way of adjusting for socioeconomic factors to give a better like-for-like comparison of ethnicity alone.
And it's not just various types of Asians, Africans are doing well there too.
EDIT: These are the results of the end of schooling exams that all pupils in Scotland take at the age of 16. They are equivalent to GCSEs in England and Wales (Scotland has a slightly different educational system). Level 6 and above are the highest levels of attainment and therefore the hardest to achieve. The FSM adjustment tries to remove societal factors like poverty, which always have an effect on educational attainment, to give a better like-for-like comparison with their ethnicity as the only difference between the groups.

Media/Snark People are Waking Up to Lies in Nick Shirley's Lam's Seafood Asian Market EBT/SNAP Scam Hit Piece
facebook.comActual multiple crime was committed ON video, but it wasn't by Lam's Seafood Asian Supermarket:
- Nick Shirley bought an EBT/SNAP card on the street from someone (Crime - Buying EBT/SNAP).
- Nick Shirley offered to sell EBT/SNAP card for the Asian woman (Crime - Offering to Sell EBT/SNAP).
- Nick Shirley accompanied to woman into Lam's Seafood Asian Supermarket to have her purchase food (Crime - In the Process of Selling EBT/SNAP).
- Nick Shirley and his buddies barraged the Asian woman whom they sold the stolen EBT/SNAP card too (Crime - Entrapment of the Asian Woman).
People are wising up to Nick Shirley's clutching at straws to defend himself from Lam's Seafood's very competent clapping back against the accusation of EBT/SNAP fraud (links below). Checkout the negative comments on the video Nick Shirley posted himself on Facebook. Even people who are his longtime fans are questioning his hit piece of Lam's Seafood Asian Market.
I am glad Lam's Seafood is fighting back. The local conservative pundits like Brandi Cruz, in this video, are or was in the process of using Lam's Seafood as the symbol of minority owned businesses' corruptions. Local conservative pundits gripe about the city of Seattle or the Washington State giving grants to local minority owned businesses that operate in depressed neighborhoods to fight against 'FOOD DESERT.' Even after Lam's Seafood presented their case and debunking Nick Shirley's accusations, Brandi Cruz still came out with - "Well it's time the government look at their record books, just to be sure." Her/their cognitive dissonance wouldn't allow her to concede that she was wrong.
Of course, look at who was supporting Nick Shirley with a softball criticism.
L\** Nguyen (An Asian Woman)*
Hi Nick, I’ve been follows you for quite some time since you broke a huge fraud case in Minnesota . I’m a good supporter for what you do. But this one I think you have jump into a quick conclusions and not investigate deeper before you put this video on social media and call person a committing a fraud. It happened similar story all over the country as you already know, The problem is the government allowing people take advantage of government system for so long and not be able to keep track. The system need to be fixed and only give 2-3 years terms and require people get back on their own and food stamps or housing will no longer beneficial for them.
Ps. Also this person is a language barrier and she doesn’t understand what you’re trying to said, you should go to the one who have authority to all this problem . Please clarify the video and don’t let people think you are wrong in this case, Good luck.

Addendum:
Dumb-a$$es sitting at home Judging Lam's Seafood and other Asian business by citing previous investigations into Lam's Seafood, etc., etc. are f**king clueless about how the law dictates to the store owners of what they can and can't do. Store owners are limited because they are NOT ALLOWED to shame people due to the social stigma associated with using EBT/SNAP. Store owners can't deny services to anyone other than trouble makers. If there was, lets say,1 legit EBT/SNAP card holders being mistreated out of 1,000 scammer who sue the store, it's a big legal headache for the store owners. I know this part because my girlfriend used to work at a produce department. Someone sued the store for denying service. It only takes one lawsuit to succeed. Critics act as if the cashier are superhuman with eagle-eyes looking out for scammers. Then, there is the scenario where a caregiver at a group home shopping for more than one disabled elderly EBT/SNAP recipients. Non of the stuff I said here is 'WHAT-IF-ISM.'

Diaspora Experience After a few years abroad in Europe, it’s time to go. The racism got to me.
I’ve been abroad living in various European countries for a few years. I don’t want to give specifics. But I’m leaving next month. The blatant racism and more subtle microaggressions is exhausting. I can’t do it anymore. I get it from all ages and genders. The anti-Asian racism is normalized and even celebrated. It has torn me up in many ways.
I’m not posting this in any expat or travel sub because I know I’ll be attacked… “yeah but XYZ” “You’re too sensitive” “The politics are different. Those comments aren’t offensive like you think they are.” “just ignore it”
It’s tough as I saw myself making my life here. But it got hard and hard to do that dealing with horrible and closed minded people.
I guess I feel sad. Like I’m giving up. Maybe I’ll regret it. Right now though I’m TIRED of fearing to exist.

Anyone remember Ming Tsai? One of my favorite chefs. It's too bad his restaurant Blue Ginger closed down. He was a guest speaker at my wife's graduation and I was impressed at effortlessly he spoke. He's definitely a natural tv guy.

Discussion/Question Asian separatism (Jungle Asian trend)
Trigger Warning
I'm probably going to get a cesspool of downvotes and a lot of hate for saying this, but this is something that's been weighing on my mind for a little while now, and it's something I wanted to speak about.
One thing I've been noticing online when it comes to a lot of Southeast Asians is a growing sense of separatism toward East Asians. First of all, I understand that, in general, different Asian ethnicities have a history of dealing with separatism. I also understand that colorism is still an issue in Asian communities, and I'm not denying that or suggesting it's completely gone. However, in my experience, East Asians nowadays seem to be relatively non-racist compared to the stereotypes and prejudices that have historically existed. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but that's just been my personal experience.
Lately, though, I've been noticing what seems to be a lot of hostility and separatist behavior coming from some Southeast Asians on social media.
One trend I've been seeing is people referring to themselves as "jungle Asians" and saying things like, "We're not the konnichiwa, sushi-eating, straight-A Asians." The way I interpret this rhetoric, it almost implies that Southeast Asians are the tough ones, the cool ones, and the non-stereotypical Asians, while East Asians are reduced to the usual stereotypes.
And honestly, that rubs me the wrong way.
To be clear, I don't have a problem with Southeast Asians. My issue is with this particular discourse and the separatist behavior I've been noticing more frequently on social media. I think it needs to stop because it's creating unnecessary division between different Asian communities.
I also think some people don't realize that this rhetoric can actually hurt their own communities' reputations as well. Believe it or not, many Southeast Asians can pass as East Asians with darker skin, if that makes sense. I've noticed that a lot of Filipinos, in particular, look very East Asian to me, and I've been noticing this for years. It seems even more apparent to me lately.
I'm Korean, and I've been mistaken for Filipino many times. Likewise, I'm sure plenty of Filipinos and other Southeast Asians have been mistaken for Chinese, Korean, or other ethnicities. We don't always fit neatly into the categories people expect us to fit into based on our appearances.
That's part of why I think this rhetoric is counterproductive. Some people seem to want to distance themselves from East Asians so much that they want to be placed in a completely different category of Asians, or sometimes even want to be considered non-Asian altogether.
In my experience, Vietnamese people seem to be among the Southeast Asians who most openly embrace their Asian identity. Ironically, though, the whole "jungle Asian" label would fit them the most (I do not mean it in an offensive way by the way) considering the Vietnam War, the Viet Cong, and everything Vietnamese people endured during that period and so forth. Yet I see this rhetoric coming from a lot of Filipinos especially but other Southeast Asians as well.
The issue is that some people seem to be indirectly insulting East Asians by portraying us as soft, weak, sheltered, or defined by the stereotypes associated with us. Meanwhile, Southeast Asians are presented as the tough, cool, non-stereotypical Asians who supposedly don't fit those same expectations.
I understand what some people might be trying to accomplish. They want to reject the stereotypes associated with Asians and establish their own identities outside of those expectations because even they understand even today many non Asians don't care to separate and just see all Asians as...well Asians but if the way they do that is by indirectly insulting another subsection of Asians, then aren't they just reinforcing the same stereotypes they're supposedly trying to denounce?
It's a slippery slope, especially when you consider how much people judge others based on appearance alone. As I mentioned earlier, I'm Korean, yet I've been mistaken for Filipino many many times. I'm sure plenty of Southeast Asians have had similar experiences being mistaken for East Asian ethnicities. So I don't think promoting this kind of narrative is good for either side.
I understand wanting to distinguish your culture and identity from those of other Asian communities. There's nothing wrong with that but there is a fundamental difference between celebrating your own identity and trying to establish it by putting another group down.
And when people repeatedly use this kind of rhetoric, I think there's clearly at least some undertone of separatism involved. I don't think it's fair to dismiss that possibility outright or pretend that this kind of discourse is purely pride and honoring their own specific culture
Anyway, I'm prepared for the cesspool of downvotes, the hate, the gaslighting and taking what I said the wrong way and flip what I said but I wanted to bring attention to something I've been noticing and get it off my chest.
If I haven't made it clear by now, I have the utmost respect for Southeast Asians and Asians in general. This isn't about disliking Southeast Asians or criticizing them as a whole. My issue is with this particular trend itself, (not the people) I've been seeing on social media and the unnecessary division it seems to encourage.
My problem isn't with Southeast Asians. My problem is with the rhetoric and the growing sense of separatism that some people seem to be promoting.
Edit: The people here gaslighting and making excuses for this is exactly why we'll never get anywhere

Media/Snark Nick Shirley caught spreading misinformation on Vietnamese community enabling food stamp fraud
instagram.comTL;DR:
Nick Shirley badgers elderly Vietnamese lady into saying "yes" when he repeatedly asks her if she's committing food stamp fraud (even though it's clear that she doesn't understand him and misunderstands his intentions). He then makes her take him to the seafood store where she buys her stuff and baselessly accuses all the staff there of being complicit in fraud.

Diaspora Experience Young Asian police officer takes charge and forces creep filming girls in Manchester to go away
So much to like about this video, but primarily that he has other, white police officers with him, but it feels so natural for him to be laying down the law here. The man he's forcing to go away clearly did not expect that assertive tone from him, nor did he expect to get his hand swatted away so dismissively, and for the cop to move in on him and force him to back away.
His youth, even his shorter stature might lead people to have made wrong assumptions about him, but it goes to show that perceptions around Asian masculinity are little more than a hollow stereotype. Loved this

Racism Watch Hong Kong Premier League club suspend player over racially sensitive social media message
As I have stated time and time again regarding foreigners coming to Asia. This is another water is wet scenario of course but why are so many East/Southeast Asians this socially inept, what is the driving force of this bullshit and not being able to pick up on it
Vietnam gets a shoutout as of recent since they are naturalizing anyone with " outstanding " talents. So a bunch of soccer players are coming from Africa, Europe, Middle East, and Latin America to get naturalized all of the sudden.

Korean men, foreign women give 10-minute 'rotation dating' a try in Seoul
Dating apps left Nicole feeling less like a potential partner than a possible English tutor.
“What I learned from using dating apps is that people will meet me because it’s cheaper to buy lunch than take an English class,” said Nicole, 37. “Being flirted with is a bonus for them.”
On Sunday, Nicole joined 10 other foreign women and 11 Korean men at a Seoul event organized by SoloLink. Participants met in pairs, switching partners every 10 minutes in a format known as “rotation sogaeting.”
The format adapts the traditional Korean practice of meeting a potential partner through a friend or acquaintance. Instead of a single introduction, participants meet several people in one sitting.

Diaspora Experience Harmless joke on how Asians in Asia think of white people
So more than often I see how Asian diaspora complain how white people give you some causal racism that hurts you or sometimes they didn't mean to but what they think of Asian face hurts you, this is just another perspective of how Asians in Asia think of white people.
It's a harmless joke obviously, but imagine if there's a little white kid grew up in Japan and get mocked Blue Eyes White Dragon😂 he's gonna be traumatized for his entire life.
I think this also taught me a lesson on how Asian Americans should really live their life from a pure Asian perspective, then you will start to see things with Asian lens instead of white lens, and anytime you try to give them a comeback when they're being casual racist towards, you will always get some material like this to mock them back, I mean, can they report this Blue Eye White Dragon card to HR or school office to accuse you mocking them?😂
So be creative, learn your Asian language and see thing from Asia lens not white lens only, I know you speak English but let's not let it become your only option and world view.
If you ever grew up in Asia and have your own culture, you'd probably see thing through your own culture, your own Asian lens, your own Asian narrative. I think lack of your own overseas Asian narrative is what a lot of you are missing, you look Latino and Blacks, the ones live in white majority society, they didn't lose the ability to see white and other race through their own cultural lens, but Asian Americans or oversea Asians often do lost it.
I think you either create one yourself or you stick to Asian culture from Asia, this is where you're gonna be able recharge yourself and be able make a funny comeback(or tough comeback) when any other race act racist towards you, you always need some grey zone comeback like this to make yourself laugh and potentially make them uncomfortable.

Discussion/Question Was it really this brutal to date as an Asian male back in the 90s and 2000s?
I saw this tweet from Joseph Kahn, a music video director that directed some of the most famous music videos of all time, like Britney Spears’ “Toxic” and “Stronger”, Eminem’s “Without Me”, and the Backstreet Boys “Everybody.” He said that he made a crazy amount of money from the music videos in his 20s but couldn’t get a date at all. Even though he literally could’ve name dropped the fact that he made music videos for some of the biggest celebrities on the planet. How many other guys could literally tell girls that they were shooting Eminem’s music videos?
Seeing that tweet made me realize, was it that brutal back in the day? That you could be a well-known music video director and still get no girls just because you were an Asian male? If that’s the case for him, I can’t imagine how it was for guys that don’t have anywhere close to his social clout.
