Anecdote Can you name this MLM?

We just met someone from our neighbourhood for coffee who, I think, was trying to pitch an MLM but I want to know which one, clues are below, please help me ID:

  1. Met at a café. He suggested to meet again after learning that we (husband and I) were hoping to leave our 9-5 to start our own business and weren’t sure where to start.
  2. He said he had mentors who did all the trial and errors and started businesses, and can help us connect with mentors so we can avoid some of these errors when starting our business.
  3. BIG CLUE (maybe): He said he was just at a gathering/conference with business mentors from around the world in Kentucky over the weekend (oct 17-18, 2026) - he was still wearing a paper bracelet with “Celebrate” and “Kentucky” written on it.
  4. He repeated a few times that business isn’t just financial, it encompasses life goals, passion, networking, family.
  5. He answered most questions directed at him with either a question, or “we will get to this later”.

Ex: When pressed about the nature of his “mentorship” thing, he would reply with this question: “Have you ever watched Shark Tank”? I asked about what he himself got from these mentors, he answered “Have you ever read this business book (forgot the name”? When I asked what was the conference in Kentucky about, he replied we will get to this later.

  1. He described his role as that of a gatekeeper between himself and the mentors. First he needs to know what pur plan is, and “if we are serious” whatever that means.

Help please? I am SO curious!

Story Seoul Snow is a Scam

This is meant to inform, not defame. People are free to make their own decisions.

Seoul Snow was established around 2024–2025. The owners are Jay and Bryan Choi, a Korean father‑and‑son duo. The Filipino shareholders is the son's former partner.

Seoul Snow is the second brand from a failed venture, and arguably a former scam, called Gugu Manju. Based on anecdotal feedback, the modus operandi is the same:

1. Low buy‑in, typically PHP 300,000.
2. Urgent request for a 50% down payment to "reserve" slots and locations, even though the company has no authority to promise them.
3. Once paid, you are pressured within days or weeks to settle the balance — citing fees, machine imports, design costs, or other reasons.
4. If you pay, you are ghosted and the team becomes unresponsive.
5. When they respond and a location is booked, you are encouraged to sign the lease.
6. As the lease deadline nears, you are presented with an unexpectedly high build cost — $300,000 to $500,000. You are stuck: pay more, or cancel.
7. Request for refunds are ignored.

To date, over 25 failed franchisees have requested refunds. None have been paid.

Jay and Bryan Choi continue to join expos and sign new franchisees despite outstanding refund obligations. Several past clients have filed demand letters. Bryan Choi was recently issued an arrest warrant; he has posted bail and is awaiting a hearing. Jay Choi has promised to return funds, but no one has been paid.
If you have contract concerns, look for the Facebook group "Seoul Snow Franchisee Helpline," organized by current and past franchisees. Members have shared legal positions and documents. There is also "Seoul Snow Franchisee+Management," where members are attempting to resolve issues with Jay Choi. To date, Seoul Snow has not addressed any franchisee issue

Help/Advice Fora Travel Advising - is it an MLM?

I’m big into traveling and wouldn’t mind making some extra income. I recently looked into Fora Travel Advising, and it looks a little sketch? It looks like you have to pay money to get started, which is obviously a huge red flag for me.

Anyone have any insight???
