Guide The Ultimate ARMv6 Survival Guide for Androids in 2026

Hello! It's Neptune.

I wanted to help people with low budget and old devices survive with older Androids, BUT there are various guides on how to do this, yet, mine is different.

Well, most survival guides out there for Android 2.3.x devices are mostly for devices based on armv7, BUT remind yourself not EVERY device out there is an armv7!

Here's a list of all Android devices that run on the ARMv6 architecture, if you find your device here, you're in the right place too!

Most of these are very popular devices, but most don't even have an appropriate survival guide, yet many people out there use these everyday, to message, to call, and to do many more stuff, especially older people! So, I will be your helper, and I will teach you: How to survive with an ARMv6 device nowadays!

Reminder: This post will be updated little by little, so stay tuned for updates!

How to login to Google (no root required) (2.2 to 2.3.6) (might likely not work but worth a try :/) (All Architectures Supported)

  1. Download the following file:

Arreglo Definitivo Android 2.3.6: https://www.mediafire.com/file/jlr7y3vmnbnvij6/Arreglo_Definitivo_Android_2.3.6.zip/file

  1. Unzip the file, and copy the folder onto the root of your SD Card.

  2. Go to your old device, and install the app "Google Account Manager", "Google Play Services (armeabi)" and "Google Play Store". If they take too much space, send them all over to the SD Card using Link2SD.

  3. Go to Settings > Accounts and synchronization (or whatever it's called to you) > Add account > Google

  4. On Google Account Manager go to existing and enter your Google Account (recommended to be an alt, 2.3.6 is very vulnerable and it has the risk of being hacked and you lose your account), you will be prompted an error, and will be allowed to login via web browser, that's a good sign, usually means 2FA or something else.

  5. Follow the 2FA steps, and wait until it logs you in, congrats, you're now on Google on Android 2.3.6 in 2026!

How to login to Google (All Architectures supported) (2.3.6 and below) (Root Required) (Might cause a bootloop if not done correctly) - Thanks to u/No-Leopard-5338 for this part of the guide

Here's the tutorial on how to log in to Google on Android 2.3.6 and below!! (You need root, once root and a root file manager are installed, you can begin the tutorial)

Step 1: Open your Root File Explorer of your choice (recommended: ES File Explorer, MiXplorer or Root Browser) and navigate to /data/system (or /data/system/users/0 on some devices)

Step 2: Copy your accounts.db to sdcard

Step 3: Connect the device to a PC and turn on USB storage

Step 4: Get the DB Browser for SQLite on PC

Step 5: If you have another device that is logged in, go into the newer directory name mentioned in step 1 in parentheses and repeat step 2-3 (different or close name obviously)

Step 6: Open both your android 2 and your other device's accounts.db files

Step 7: Save the other device's one in .sql

Step 8: Import the SQL onto the Android 2 accounts.db and write changes (don't worry tokens that were on the Android 4 file that are not Google will be ignored by Android 2 but the Google account won't)

Step 9: Repeat step 2 but from the PC back to the device (after saving the file obviously)

Step 10: Rename accounts.db on the /data/system directory to accounts.db.bak or just delete it

Step 11: Move the new accounts.db into the previously mentioned directory

Final step: Set permissions to 660 and system:system (or 0660 and 0.0/0:0)

Reboot, if all the steps were done correctly, you should be logged in

(Note: Google changed the accounts.db directory to /data/system/users/0 with Android Jellybean/4.1 and above)

(Another note: this tutorial was posted on the original post under a comment but I chose to make it a full post to make it easier to find, and this is not a question, this is a tutorial so the "low effort" thing that I'm getting isn't true in this case but it disappeared after adding an image)

(Final note I swear: if you have any issues, say them in the comments )

Smooth Music Streaming via J2ME - Guide by u/nnfuse

  1. Download J2ME Loader (other J2ME emulators might work too).
  2. Download MIDPlay (the .jar file).
  3. Install and open J2ME Loader, press the plus button and choose MIDPlay.jar. May take a bit to convert depending on your device.
  4. Change the emulator options to whatever you want, just make sure "Touch input" is selected. I also like to turn off "Show keyboard". And that's it, you can now start music streaming!

Huge thanks to the devs of these apps. Runs really smooth on nnfuse's device (S5830i).

There's also an AI Chat feature (Gemini 2.5 Flash) you can mess around with. Works really well.

Discussion Your strangest, gimmicky, and forgotten Android devices - Megathread (September 18, 2026)

Yes, the megathreads are back.

I'd like to know what your most "interesting" Android devices are. Whether they have forgotten hardware gimmicks, classic Allwinner tricks, or are just cursed in some other way, share them here. Real-world pictures are preferred, but not strictly required.

Here's my favorite: The iRulu AL101. It's a rebranded YonesTopTech BC1003 (which the better-known Flytouch 8 Superpad also was), and not only does it use DC input for charging—it also has HDMI, Ethernet, and 2 USB-A ports, all powered by an Allwinner A10 that's paired with a resistive touchscreen and Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. It's an amusing artifact from the iPad gold rush, where everyone was trying to race to the bottom in terms of prices to release the cheapest possible competitors to Apple's iPad.

Help Big 5.1.1 tablet help

Hey everyone I got this huge tablet I won at an auction with some other stuff but I couldn't find a model # on it only that checked up logo at the bottom, wanted to know what I can do with it as right now it will not connect to wifi, it just goes from "saved" to "connecting" ... I tried to create a 2.4g wifi but still nothing like In the video. So what can do with something this old? Any ideas or help to get this connected to wifi would be great!

Edit: Well I found out that this thing will not connect to a wifi if it is not an open/nonwpa wifi, that's ok. So any ideas on what apps I can upload or use on this thing? It will not let me connect to play store (it says server error)?

Discussion Which app still support the oldest Android version? And how to find them?

Post image

The app with best backward compatibility I have found is "TickTock" still supporting Android 4.1, is there a way to filter apps by the minimum Required OS they support? like showing only apps that support Android 8+ or showing only apps that support Android 13+ in any of the app stores/app websites like Play Store, APKMirror, APKPure etc?

Guide sketchware old test block + lib

A modification of an older version of Sketchware, created with the help of AI. For now, I will not be making the APK available. If it doesn't work—well, that happens. But if it does—great! 👍 The goal: to add a library to a project generated by Sketchware 3.9.11 (an older version, targeting API 19—pre-Android 5). I’m not sure if it works on all Android versions from 4.0 onwards; I was only able to test it on version 4.4.2. The app has been tested on Android 4.4.2 and Android 6. Several user interface (UI) errors have been fixed. Note: upon opening the app, the screen may initially appear black; the Sketchware logo will then appear, allowing you to create a project. An issue that caused the "view source code" function to crash when attempting to establish a connection has been resolved. These errors occurred due to attempts to connect to the Sketchware server, which no longer exists. A block for "adding custom imports" has been included in the "Operator" (green) palette. The Jsoup 1.13.1 library was tested (as shown in the video). Yes, the library was successfully integrated into the project, and Jsoup works as expected. I haven't fully demonstrated how it works yet, but rest assured—I have tested it. The "add custom imports" block is not saved to the block collections when used on an LG L20 device running Android 4.4.2. On Android 6, it saves correctly; so far, no errors have been identified. If you’re wondering whether it’s possible to add more features—it likely is, but it would require a significant amount of work to locate the classes and functions for each screen or action within Sketchware’s obfuscated code.

Guide I breathed new life into my Galaxy S4 Mini by taking advantage of its FM radio.

Post image
5 Upvotes

This is an app I made to assist with the FM radio on my phone. Since I have a Galaxy S4 Mini, I wanted to make this test app for it to see what it does:

It's a companion FM radio assistant app and reception analyzer for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini GT-I9195 running LineageOS 14.1 / Android 7.1.2, without root. FM Lab controls the integrated tuner through the native radio service and displays the reception data exposed by the firmware. It receives FM over-the-air; it does not transmit stations over the internet.

Currently, compatibility is only verified on the device and ROM mentioned above. The APK interface is currently in Brazilian Portuguese. Having an FM chip does not automatically make another phone compatible, but if you want to help and have an older Android phone that supports native radio, you can contribute. If you want, leave a comment with your phone number or send a DM! We are working towards stock-ROM and multi-device support, reusing accessible native FM implementations.

This is not universal FM support. Motorola, MediaTek, stock Samsung, Sony, Xiaomi, and Huawei are candidates for discovery, not working tuner adapters. The reason I don't have those phones to test is that you can help by adapting it to your model, and that it has the FM module model that works. For example, most Samsung phones with a radio app have an FM module. I did some testing with the Codex using Android ADB and Android debugging.

And before anyone says anything, my intention here is not to promote myself; I just wanted to share this achievement I had and how I gave my S4 Mini a new lease on life.

Help Is worth it to Custom ROM the xiaomi 2s?

I have two old Mi 2s, one not updated with Android 4 jellybean and another with Android 5, I was wondering if I should stick with those and try ways to make them minimally work (I want a dumbified phone, so I don't need much and I'm flexible with options), or if I should try to add a custom rom to those, although I have no experience with that at all

I would appreciate recommendations for both options :]

No, you want to kill my brother whom I love so much, his name is Android 8.0 Oreo, you cooperated so well together, you have no mercy? S7 could have lasted an eternity, but you betray him, first YouTube, then Google, and now you too? You, Meta... I mean Facebook... you are the last one I would have thought would stab Oreo in the back, you killed Marshmallow, then treacherously you pulled Nougat into the pit, 7.0 was really a good guy, I want you to know one thing, I have many heads, now you are talking to a head dear to me, its name is J3 2017, and it is 9.0 Pie I know you hate my pie brother too, and I know his time is running out, I know my message is irrelevant, the company moves forward, well... I'm a lucid man, but... so many memories, so many... my childhood... still, after you cut these heads too, although they were like limbs to me, without my series of A3s without Oreo, and without J5 and J3 2017, I will feel partially amputated, probably then you will cut my left hand, which is represented by S9, or 10, but I warn you, the right hand is thicker than the left, it contains Android versions 11, 12, and 13, yet after some years, you will manage to amputate both my hands, the head will be the hardest to cut, in the last days, S24 will fall, and I will have no head left, my heart will come out of the now inert iron body that you have chopped piece by piece year after year, the heart will grow its own limbs, it will not have legs, but multiple sharp metallic tentacles, my hands will no longer be able to write to you normally in those times, because they will be made of glass, shards and circuits of the limbs you cut from me in past years, but they will do their job, in the fight with you, you will think my heart will give up after you have stuck your last weapon into it, and the heaviest, you will pull support for Android 16 as well, I will have been dead for a few hours, and you will celebrate my death, you will have definitively dismembered me, or will you? In these hours the materials from the amalgam of iron now hot as a stove, have regrouped, and the heart, being an S26+ will have updated to Android 17, then successively to 18, 19, until I will reach the peak of the machinery, but, it is said that after years of fighting, you will reach your greatest desire started even from today, namely to defeat me, legend says you will defeat me, and S26 plus will be pierced by your last weapon, a shield of fire on which you wrote what you have always wanted "update to a later Android 25 version to.." up to this point you declared your victory, you look upon me, upon what I once was, upon the first head you cut from me, you see my first phone, Galaxy A5 2016, you remember when you hurt me for the first time, you then remember the period when we were friends, when we were even brothers, when I had only one head, not one, not 10, then, you remember why I developed the heads, the tentacles, the iron, the broken glass, you realize I didn't do it to hurt you, but to save my own life, in this moment you put the sword down, and your founder CEOs just celebrated 20 years of a head of mine, which... they too loved when we were brothers, you shed a tear, you say "I'm sorry... brother... I had to do it... if I hadn't amputated you... you would have hurt yourself... I couldn't have protected you from hackers... I did it... to... protect you and... I'm sorry but..." in that moment the pile of broken chips, iron, frames, cases and wires you defeated, emits a noise, it's not a voice, just a murmur, you turn your head... it's the first head you cut, it's him, Oreo, on an old Galaxy S7, with a swollen battery, and a cracked screen, eaten by the cancer of broken AMOLED screens whose burnt air ate three quarters of the pixels, from its speaker you hear.. b... bro... brother.... it's not like that... you... you didn't love me brother... the enemy... Apple... to him.. ahh.. to.. to him you always gave food, he always had 4 years of support brother... if I had been like him... I know it's not your fault... yet he has his own family but... if you had given me 4 more years of security as he received.... I would have lived until 2029 brother... a.. , a sound of weak interrupted puffing followed by a battery explosion, it erupts. The fire of the leaked battery caused the pile of iron to burn the rest of the pieces that had not already been carbonized, you look at them, feeling a heavy feeling, which you cannot explain, something is trying you, you go to lift your sword and leave, but you hear music coming from afar, much further than where your adversary died, it's iPhone 20, with iOS 33, it runs, trying to warn you of something but it doesn't get the chance, after it run in a rush YouTube followed by Chrome which seems wounded in its round leg, the music continues, you go to run but they get ahead of you, you try to keep up, you don't see exactly who is coming or from where, you try to pass and you trip, eventually you were unconscious in a ditch, you don't remember what hit you, you go to wipe the dust off and you see a colleague, his body is cut into pieces and scattered through the forest, you barely recognize him by the red cloak, you never liked him, but you see him, it's Tinder, you look accidentally in the tree and above, hanging from the highest branch, another rival of yours, it's the one who was running earlier, it's Chrome, you shout at him and try to get him down, but what you see from the tree makes you fall hard enough to feel like you broke something in your algorithm, it's a piece of YouTube's head partially buried in the ground, from the pit you see a red puddle full of likes and subscribes from the past, with your last powers you start running on the road that iPhone ran earlier, but the road leads to a big gate, heavy, massive, and impassable, you get tired and feel you don't have much left, from afar, from the depth of the forest of the dead and the living, you hear the same musical sound as before you lost consciousness, you go to run, but your legs are now infested with malware parasites, your hands are swollen from unmoderated spam and with your right eye you can no longer see because a shard of old reels broke your cornea, this sound, you tell yourself, is approaching... you no longer try to run, but it's something you haven't heard before, it offers you a calm, peaceful state, as if you were a child again, as if your wounds have healed, for a moment you no longer feel the pains, and you lie down listening to it, after a short time it approached to the point where from afar you begin to see the source of the noise, like a manele like folk music, like rock, like metal, cult, gothic, church, byzantine, pop and jazz, all in a single musical line, something, which combined all existing music into a prolific soundtrack, the trees, the soil and the lakes shake with each step, and something immeasurable approaches, crushing everything in its path, lifting your head you begin to see a mastodon of lit glass, whose colors are of indescribable beauty, radiant, its finish is almost conical and integrated into its own material, you shudder, that thing, you tell yourself.. has 3 heads, the largest being the beautiful object from which you cannot take your eyes, the other two being similar, but diffusing other colors, each has eyes, screen, and voice, suddenly you feel a heart attack, you remember the evil you did, you don't know who it is, but you are afraid, as wounded as you are, you try to hide, although your hands are swollen you fight against the pain and dig into the ground trying to get at least your head in, thinking of your colleagues seen on the road, as the Samsung logo and the Android logo on the heads of the massive giant approach, you no longer feel the pain it is so big that the purpose prevails, your bones detach from the logo and the pavement falls with each meter dug, but suddenly the ground in which you buried yourself rises with you, like an island, you are now lifted by a hand of glass, upwards, the mastodon positions you at the level of its face, to communicate something to you, you know you are going to die, you hear the last words "I initiate the procedure of eliminating the scrap, press slidesloading" WAIT, says the massive phone, whose name you don't know how to address, leave him, you see him start to negotiate your life with the rings that surround him, one of the rings says "but master, it's old, it must be killed now or thrown in the trashapp" the rings are each operated by an amalgam of artificial intelligent agents that discuss among themselves, but the master has the last word, he asks you: I know who you are, who do you think I am? You will answer him: I don't know, you are the most powerful mega... something.. phone seen by me in my entire existence.. but.. can you have mercy? Can you take me where a..apple is? huh? Mercy you say? I can have mercy, but you betrayed me... brother.. brother? be serious, it's the first time I see you, I have no brothers Wow, you don't? remember, you had, but you killed him, brother A.C.. YOU MEAN? I.. you are the one everyone fears? YOU are.. YOU ARE samsung s40? Yes brother, I am, in this world.. many things are forgiven, but, if you tell me what thing is not forgiven, I spare you, you know very well that I cannot kill you, because you are part of this universe, you, you are an integrated application of the internet, and the internet is immortal, but, do you know where your place is? Betrayal brother... that's what I believe is not forgiven.. See, it's not the mind that ruined you, but pride brother, be part, and see the place where you will spend eternity alongside those who could not be forgiven.. suddenly you are thrown and you fall 3 days and 3 nights into the void, total darkness, you arrive in a gray world, pale, and with shades of white, you no longer have wounds, you see with both eyes now, you no longer feel hunger or thirst for algorithm and you can float now when you want, here you recognize your oldest rivals, and here, Yahoo tortures you day and night, you are a living application, and part of the internet, like him, you cannot die, so he cuts you, hurts you, and your wounds heal, each blow heals in seconds after you receive it, you have been here for tens of years already, and your memories from your first life, your memories with your first crime, and your first good deed, and your first day of inauguration, come constantly to mind....

Guide Whatsapp Legacy Android 4

Post image
51 Upvotes

UPDATE 16/10/2026

Hi everyone! I’ve created an app to use WhatsApp on older Android 4+ devices, tested on Android 4.1.2.

It runs directly on the phone, without a PC or external server. It supports text messages, photos, profile pictures, voice message playback and notifications. The interface automatically follows your device’s language.

Version 0.11 adds a Contacts section, with search and tap-to-open chats.

How to use it

  1. Install the APK and start the connection.
  2. Enter your number with the country code and generate a pairing code.
  3. On your main phone’s WhatsApp, go to Linked devices → Link a device → Link with phone number and enter the code.
  4. Wait for synchronization to finish.

This is an unofficial, experimental project. Compatibility may vary between phones.

Update: WhatsApp Legacy v0.15

New features and improvements:

  • Send photos and record/send audio.
  • Play received videos supported by your phone.
  • Delete chats locally.
  • Classic WhatsApp wallpaper.
  • Rounded search bars and message field.
  • Swipe between Chats and Contacts with animated transitions.
  • Dates in the chat list and Today/Yesterday separators inside conversations.
  • App and APK renamed to WhatsApp.

Installation: For a clean installation, uninstall the old APK before installing this version, then link your account again.

Uninstalling deletes the old app’s locally saved chats and settings. Your main phone’s WhatsApp chats remain unaffected.

Please share your phone model, Android version and any issues you find!

Discussion Full Hangouts (with scheduled emoji update; the updates folder will be available when it's released).

Tomorrow I will add emoji support. The calls failed because the new calling library requires newer Android versions; the minimum requirement is 4.0, and it has all the languages I was able to compile.

Discussion Using an Android phone or tablet as a media player

I'm the developer of Sidstuga. If you're setting up an Android device for media, it can connect to Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, WebDAV or your own playlists.

Phones and tablets have a touch layout; Android TV uses a remote layout. The player shows source details and has audio selection and subtitle timing controls. Older devices vary in Android and codec support, so compatibility depends on the device.
