The FC FA on AA 4740, Monique, was wonderful this morning! Her simple kindness brightened my weary day (going on 36hrs of no sleep!)… and headed off to a weekend of hard physical work.

We often callout only the negative, so thought I’d shine light on a positive.

I let her know that I also went straight to the AA website and submitted a compliment on her behalf
- from a weary EP guy on his 6th AA flight this week… 🥱🫡

I’m an EP who travels 1-2 times a week on American and I enjoy collecting the airplane trading cards for the planes I don’t have. I’ve never had a weird interaction with any American pilot until today.

Earlier today I found myself standing next to the captain of my next flight while we were waiting for the late inbound to deplane.

I said hello and introduced myself and asked if he had any trading cards for the plane we were about to fly. He said “No, but you can go home and tell your friends you met a real pilot today.”

I was confused and said “what do you mean?” He said “I fly planes, I don’t deal in trading cards.”

I said “no problem, I didn’t mean to offend you, I’m just a frequent flier who likes the brand and the planes.” He laughed as I walked away.

I hope he’s as good a pilot as he is condescending.

Traveling today for work (SVA-CLT-BWI) Made the rookie move mixing my connecting flight time as my original departure time. Rolled out of bed 30 minutes before boarding in abject panic. Dropped rental without refilling car. Get to security and get selected for random screening- because of course. I make it to gate 9 minutes before boarding starts- thinking this is going to be one of those days. I’m #3 on upgrade with no spaces and offers to switch the flight-so I know I’m going to have to suck it up. Squeezed into a main cabin seat (no premium available when I booked) just happy to be there! The guy next to me is big,looks like a grown ass man- until the flight attendant welcomes us aboard the flight and says 6-7 and he reflexively does the hand gesture as he man spreads. Still, I made it and we were boarded, on time, and ready to go. Then I get an American update. Knowing this means we’ve been delayed for <insert random reason> because that has been the case flying all year. Groaning I open it- and see my seat was changed to 3D! First time I’ve ever used the flight attendant call button in my lifetime of flying. Hello wide seat and snacks. I didn’t know they would do upgrades so late in the game but I will take it. Taught me to keep hope alive! Safe travels friends.

I try to ask for trading cards when I fly, but this is a first! This is such a cool idea and I appreciate the sleeve. ❤️ thanks for making my morning.

Good! Just scored a great upgrade on a flight from DFW to AKL 3 days out. 995. I'm happy. It's a 15 hour flight. Even got one of the Flagship preferred seats. Just wanted to post as I had a hard time determining what a good cash upgrade looked like.

Bad! Had someone take pictures of me and my luggage and complain loudly to the GA about me having an extra bag on a recent flight to LHR. I do have an extra bag. It's medical. Just happens to be a cute sling bag. MYOB folks. You're not the luggage police. I did not give them the pleasure of responding as I thought it better just to let them stew about it for the entire flight.

With the news of Delta holding status requirements flat and United increasing for next year, curious what everyone’s thoughts are on what American would do?

My flight from LHR - CLT on Friday was cancelled at 5 in the morning. We were rebooked for a flight on Sunday, but my partner and I simply cannot wait that long. We’ve rebooked with another airline, but we have a two and a half hour layover and past experience with LHR leads me to believe I will not be making that connection. Bags are already checked on the initial flight to LHR out of BER, but given the rebooking and coming cancellation I’m not sure where that leaves our checked bags.

Given the cancellation and rebooking almost a whole 48 hours later I like to think I have some options here.

I was looking at booking a hotel room next summer in San Antonio, Texas for a convention and wanted to use AAdvantage Hotels. I checked the website and it showed the cost of a single bed hotel room as $1,900. That seemed high to me so I checked the hotels site and the same room there was $570. Has anyone else had this happen where it’s so much more?

I see two options:

1) American doesn't care if we have clean hands.

2) Even Admirals club staff can't tell the difference.

It's crazy watching the upgrade price change in real time. I'm flying from ICT to DFW tomorrow and have been getting the push notifications for the "Best way to travel".

Last night it was $154/16.9k. This morning was $117/12.9k. About an hour ago is was $87/9.6k. Now it is $76/8.3k.

I guess they are really trying to not have to go to the upgrade list. .

I’m flying the new XLR in the front cabin in a few weeks after a decade of going back and forth from west coast to east coast on the T - mostly in business or first. I’ve very much liked that plane and configuration, and know where I want to sit.

For those who have made the transition, any thoughts on where to sit in the business class cabin? Seems like it doesn’t matter but maybe toward front of cabin is better. Or?

First time I’ve ever seen this in my couple decades of business travel. VIP? Kids trip? Crew?

Bummer, Was looking forward to the Short Rib… Received an email stating my wife and I’s selection might not be available at the exact same time we had our choices removed and said to pick over from the basic 4 selections of cheese plate, salmon, chicken or sliders. Can’t do anything about it so guess a cheese plate will do.

Hey friends, my wife and I booked an AA Vacations package (flights + hotel + Universal Studios tickets) and paid with our Executive card. It shows on my statement as "AA VACATIONS PHOENIX," categorized as Travel Agency and Tour Operators.

Has anyone booked an AA Vacations package on the Executive card since the August refresh and seen the miles post? Did you get 4x on the whole thing, 4x on just the flights, or 1x?

UPDATE: I checked in on the browser version and the touchless came up fine on the boarding pass. So, I guess whoever said that you had to check in on the app to get that was wrong. Thanks everyone!

I am trying to check in for a flight in about 20 hours on the AA app. For some reason, it is not showing as an option. I have restarted my phone, logged out and back in, deleted and redownloaded the app twice, and tried finding the trip manually in the app.

I read that if you don’t check in on the app, your boarding pass won’t have the touchless precheck signifier on it. I want to make sure that I have that. Any tips or tricks I can try to make this option available?

The check in option is showing on the browser version, just not the app. AA digital support was not helpful at all.

i know it used to be for cash tickets but is it for miles tickets now. for example, you book the miles tickets 3 days in advance, you cant cancel within 24 hours?

Pleasantly surprised.

This upgrade offer forced me to pull the trigger & get a Flagship Suites Preferred (bulkhead) seat on a 78P from DFW -> AKL. I may not have been able to use my SWU with upgrade offers as low. Past datapoints indicate they can go as low as ~$400 on this route, but I expected it to be higher during the holiday season, particularly around Christmas.

I was hoping to take one of these flights but I won’t book BE for anything
