Discussion Looks like Ønehart was stealing music from other ambient artists
Whether we like it or not, we've all heard Snowfall by Ønehart somewhere on social media. I know quite a few of us in this community have been hesitant over that genre or sphere of ambient, so when I came across this fall out between his label (dreamscape) and the artist, My Head Is Empty, I wasn't terribly surprised he had been stealing without due credit.
You can see the conversations and fallout here in which My Head Is Empty shared:

- To maintain consistency, to make posts easy to search, and to easier understand the post at a glance please use the Artist - Title format. Do not use "by", different order, other symbols. This rule is widely used across many music sub-reddits.
- Add right flair too.
- If you are submitting your own work mark that it's your own work with self-promo flair, if you wanna add more info create new comment under post.
Selfpromo is allowed but not overpost (1 post per 7 days, 1 playlist per 1 month) - NO AI!
- Original artists please wait 7 days between self-promo posts please not promo only your music but try post music from others too.

- Post links as link post, they need to have preview. Do not post region restricted music link.
Do not post music with drums / ASMR or non-music / music mixed as long loop.
- Posts must not contain drums. This is up to moderator discretion & some borderline work (such as dark ambient) won't necessarily be removed if the drums are subtle and not a focal point. Please use one of the other "ambient" sub-reddits for posts with beats.
- ASMR/non-music/loop mixes (1+ hour) are not allowed as this is a music sub and not a sub for "ambiance" as a whole. Field recordings are part of ambient but not when they're posted on their own.
Do not post genre staples unless it's a new release (some works will be removed because time shows what is popular or overboosted from the start especially some money boosted labels and playlists we wanna be fair to indie artist who do it with soul and heart and not only for money and commercial what are as Dreamscape artists and similar without correct support or unfair and unclear way how they choose artists). Do not post same track if it was posted before.
- Do not post same track if it was posted before.
- Blacklist is as follows:
Dreamscape/Lost Sounds/Union Entertaiment label releases or other labels who use unfair money boosts

Stars of the Lid - And Their Refinement of Decline
Brian Eno - Music for Airports
William Basinksi - Disintegration Loops
Gas - Pop
Tim Hecker - Ravedeath, 1972

Discussion Recommendations
Hi, what ambient albums would y’all recommend to start with? I’m talking about some absolutely classic ones. I’ve already listened to a few of them (by Eno, Grouper and The Caretaker among others). I’m really new in the topic so I would be very thankful if you could guide me into it.

I made this for my girlfriend, to help her sleep. It was a really meditative process, and I try to encapsulate the late summer air, stillness of wind, and glare of tinted light on the wall that gradually fades down into the night. If you could listen I’d really appreciate it, I took inspiration from Aphex and Steve Roach notably, specifically Structures from Silence. The album heavily features smooth, airy Juno-106 textures and might help you sleep. Thanks guys!

Self-promo Greg Hooper - spatial distance
From the album Interoception which I will keep adding to as I come up with ambient pieces derived from the same 16thC mass, Bauldeweyn's Missa da Pacem.
This piece is part of a pair, the other being
https://apondinthestream.bandcamp.com/track/apparent-connection
They each use different treatments of the same material, made of fragments or phraselets rather than complete phrases
Thanks to anyone who gives them a try, is very much appreciated

Craig is an essential part of quiet details, opening our series with qd01, and qd09 with Ian Hawgood - both quintessential embodiments of the label’s ethos. A legendary figure in the world of the most subtle and thoughtful music - Craig has a wonderful back catalogue on his own Cotton Goods and many other excellent labels.
I’m Alex, making music as fields we found and curating quiet details. It is my great fortune to work with Craig - we’ve know each other for a long time now and he’s a dear friend, and I consider him to be one of the most creative artists working today. Since recovering from lymphoma a couple of years ago, my musical outlook shifted in a deeply positive way - so the timing was perfect for us to start this project.
Inspired by a mutual love of ecology and fragments of sound, and the margins of our lives - shaped into musical form.
Quiet and textural - these pieces are a view through misted glass, clouded and suggesting a reflection on the layers found within. Emotions conveyed through hand-played instruments, magnetic tape and the patina of many generations of recording.
Sharing sounds back-and-forth - piano, harmonium, field recordings, long free-form experiments from collections of instruments and more. Recorded and looped on multiple tape machines and old samplers - coaxing out the underlying sonic remnants, and bringing those traces into view.
Endless thanks to Craig for his constant inspiration.
Also the second run of the much-requested qd49 Sulk Rooms - they won’t hang around.

Ambient Ethereal ambient band...lost
heard on an internet radio playlist in 2002....
Hi everyone, I'm trying to find an ambient act I heard in 2002 on an internet playlist/web radio. The name I remember is "Acidage" (maybe "Acid Age"), but I've never been able to find them again, so tags or spelling may have been wrong.
Track titles I remember:
- Abstractions
- Gassless (maybe "Gasless")
- Andromeda
- Petrified Jungle
- Obalisk (maybe "Obelisk")
- Snowmen
- Shimmering
- Jà Ming (maybe "Ja Ming")
Style: very ethereal ambient, long soft pads, spacey and floating. I also listen to Steve Roach, Max Corbacho and early Brian Eno, if that helps place it.
I've already searched Google, Discogs and Bandcamp without luck. Any ideas, old playlists, or Soulseek users who might have these files? Thanks!
Self-promo Peaceful Retreat - VOYΛGER
Full Album Streaming everywhere TODAY!
We’ve been working to get this record out for quite some time. This record has been a labor of love. A concept record based off of the 1977 NASA Voyager missions in which two twin satellites where launched into space to tour the outer planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. A journey that has lasted almost 50 years.
In so many ways, this concept album is metaphorical. Voyager I & Voyager II represent the the two twin satellites, The Great Red Spot on Jupiter, the Rings of Saturn, the icy Clouds of Uranus and Neptune known as the great Dissolver.
The seventh and final bonus track Interstellar is exclusively available only on vinyl and cd. If you're in Vegas, come out to our FREE album release this Friday 10/23 at Dustland!

Self-promo Adrian Carpenter - Silent Hill 1 - Homage music
Hello again everyone :)
So, funny story, i had wanted to originally make something for the movie The Thing or Alien/Alien isolation, but after making the music, I felt like the music was...not bad, but did not fit the vibe when I tried to match the music to either the images or footage.
In any case, after thinking some more, I thought of Silent Hill 1, and, well, I think it fit much better.
Recorded live in one take, using both the ASM Hydrasynth deluxe to provide the moving bassline (an inspiration from The Thing's main theme) and opening high notes, as well as the Prophet Rev 2, using both the filter cutoff, resonance, and audio mod among other things to alter the pitch in real time while playing. I had more of a difficult trying time to match something interesting visually to the music. The atmosphere seemed dense, alive, strange, and melancholic, which I think is good.
Anyways, thank you to anyone who decides to listen :)

Playlist VA - magical sadness of things
This ambient playlist features Ryuichi Sakamoto, Hirhoshi Yoshimura, Seki Takashi but most importanly it is heavily inspired by mono no aware - a Japanese idiom describing the feeling of gentle sadness while admiring beautiful yet passing things. I hope this delicate ambience managed to capture this feeling. Happy listening!

I have uploaded my first 4 albums to Bandcamp - all as NYP. I would greatly appreciate it if ambient and drone listeners would kindly take the time to exprience my music, and (if it resonates with you), please share amongst the community. I have attempted to merge my loves of ambient (Roach, Rich, Basinski) with my love of post-metal (Neurosis, Isis, Yob). Link is below:-
