I died while on a jog(had a cardiac arrest) and woke up 3 months later thinking I was waking up the day after. AMA

There was a very low chance of survival because it happened out of a hospital setting without any medics nearby. Everyone says I’m strong for surviving but I didn’t do anything at all, all I remember was going to sleep, was out for 3 months but in my head it was 3 hours later. Ask me anything (AMA)

I rode Frieght Trains in America, Canada and Mexico/South America for the better part of 20 years now, AMA

I did one of these like four or five years ago, and didn't have a very reliable phone/internet connection at the time, so I couldn't follow thru with it the way I would have really liked.

But yes, as the title says, im a bona-fide for better or worse modern American Hobo in every sense of the word. The full Monty. Eating out of dumpsters, playing music on every street corner in the country, and of course, using every single less than legal mode of free transportation there is, mainly frieght trains.

ASK ME ANYTHING!

I am a guy with 2 moms AMA

I’m 16M and I have two moms. I wasn’t adopted or born through IVF or anything like that. My biological mom got pregnant with me under horrible circumstances, but she decided to keep me. While she was still pregnant with me, she met my other mom, and they became friends before eventually starting to date. So my mom has always been in my life I’m their only child. AMA

I Overcame severe Agoraphobia- AMA!

There was a point in my life I did not leave my house unless it was for school or work. If I shopped it was only with my mom & I didn’t like to be alone. After many years with the help of my best friend who is old enough to be my second mom I now enjoy leaving my home, meeting other family & friends, travel, and have gotten a lot better about meeting strangers & being able to converse with them. I am now making steps towards living independently in my own apartment. I used to have severe physical symptoms of my anxiety that made me very sick & now I almost never do.

My twin was sentenced to a decade in prison, he has 6 years left. AMA

4 years ago he went to prison. Can't be super specific here due to the rules, but i can get into it a bit in the replies. He is, however, a monster. I find answering questions and talking about it to be therapuetic and its not a topic I really want to bring up to people who know me personally.

edit: 10 years plus 20 years on the registry, yes THAT registry

I work at a hospital where people with disabilities live ask me anything

I work at a state run facility where people from ages 12-80 live full time sometimes the rest of their life after being admitted. There are very broad reason people live here some are bed bound, for some this was their last chance before jail/juvie, and we even have an individual who chooses to live here. Ask me anything!

I was very against circumcision but got it done. AMA

I was extremely anti-circumcision but after years of going back and forth with some bedroom issues, I ended up deciding on a 'minimal' circumcision as a 'least worst' option since it appeared to be the only way to resolve the issues. I did not want a full circumcision and all the doctors I talked with would only perform a full circumcision.

Finally, about a year later, I found a doctor who was willing to do a partial circumcision.

I woke up fully circumcised anyways.

Because I wasn't really forced into it (medically urgent crowd), but I also didn't exactly choose it (aesthetic/religious/peer pressure/etc... crowd), I feel it gives me a very unique unbiased perspective. I got cut 10 years ago, so I also know the before/after better than most.

AMA

Update: Ok, I'm going to sign off for now but will check back periodically. Hopefully I introduced a more unbiased perspective than the usual black and white screaming matches haha

I started writing to inmates as a penpal as a hobby a while back after communicating with an actual friend who was in lock up. He said that having someone (but especially a woman) to talk to really helped him get through it. So I've continued with others too.

I survived the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in CA history, AMA

Like the title says, I survived the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in CA history. It's been about 8 yrs this November.

Side note I also am finally learning boundaries and have unfortunately lost my best friend, and my relationship w my sister is strained so if you have questions about boundary setting or losing friends/family due to it, those would be appropriate questions too.

I spent years as the CTO and large event project manager for an event labor company, building some top US music festivals and various other events. AMA

The festival stuff was fun. The other clientele makes things interesting. And my personal life story ties it all together into one I hope to have some impact to make the world a better place with.

I could talk at length about a variety of topics, but for this one I’d like to talk most about what it was like running a crew of land pirates.

In the ICU with sepsis [PURELY EDUCATIONAL] Ama

The purpose of this AMA i to highlight the warning signs of sepsis and how fast you or a loved one needs to act

I have along health history you can scroll through my profile

On the 13th i went to the ER to get admitted- im sick so I get admitted every single week for something

While I was there i suddenly started vomiting up alot of gas, i hadn't of thrown up since I was 14 and I have a condition that makes burping and vomiting near impossible (RCPD)

My temp spiked to 105, I was laying down with a heart rate of 134-180, I was severely hypotensive, shaking like a wet leaf, and had severe full body pains

I know the signs of sepsis, I have a central line so I am always on my toes about it. I didnt want to jump to conclusions, and my symptoms calmed down after a dose of antibiotics. Thats what really made me start to worry

I was so weak I couldnt let a nurse know, everytime i tried to be vocal I would throw up more gas from the force of trying to speak

I was discussing with my friends how they may have caught the start of a blood infection but didnt want to jump to conclusions as thats rather serious

First day in the hospital my blood pressure kept tanking at around 7pm it was 53/29, they called a rapid and tried to being it up.

At around 2 am my blood pressure was 50/23, and my pulse was 120+ they drew labs immediately and transferred me to the ICU

The labs they drew were to check for sepsis and unfortunately I had been septic the whole time

They got me up to the ICU started aggressive antibiotic treatment, and continous lactated ringers

The goal of this AMA is to educate people on the signs of sepsis and how quickly you need to act

Day 3 and the doc just came in and told me its still present but its going down thats why I keep having those episodes of fever and full body pain and tachycardia

I feel awful doc says I keep getting fevers and breaking them and repeat, its been a wilde ride.

Its much better looking like a fool in the er than having a blood infection

In September i outed a fraud who claimed he was a Wagner / Africa Corps mercenary, AMA

A user here claimed that he is a native of Central African republic who joined Wagner/Africa corps mercenaries via Telegram, fought in Mali and CAR and casually deserted because of the inept Russian commanders and became a law student.

I used basic ground reality, some military doctrine, and eyewitness facts from bilateral peacekeeper deployments in CAR (specifically Rwandan defense personnel stationed in Bangui) to determine that his story was completely impossible from start to finish.

Most people don't get the right psychotropic medication on the first try. I’ve spent years studying why. AMA about how psych meds actually work and what we still don’t know.

Please note that none of this is medical advice, I cannot advise you on specific meds, dosages, or combinations. Please talk to your prescriber and/or pharmacist with those questions. I am happy to talk broadly about specific medications or medication classes however as I have researched psychopharmacology extensively.

I'm Chaz Stevens. Just filed Florida and California unlicensed-practice-of-law complaints against the new White House Press Secretary, who keeps saying she's a lawyer. No bar in America has her on file. AMA.

1.3k Upvotes

Greetings, America. Damn happy to be here.

Chaz Stevens with you this AM, a Florida-based First Amendment stress tester, professional thorn in the side of those in charge, which is like a crash-test dummy except I volunteer. You might know some of my work: the Beer Can Festivus pole, applying Florida's book-ban law to the Bible, and helping send three electeds to jail. (Not at once, though all were in the clown car.)

As I like to say, and often do, I'm not a lawyer and don't give legal advice, but I file damn good paperwork that packs a bite.

The new White House Press Secretary, Kate Sharon Zacharia (Katie to you), has a Pepperdine law degree. Great, Katie, you have a JD! I have a Costco card, and they still won't let me do surgery. A degree says you went to law school. A license says you're allowed to practice, and that's the part nobody can find.

CNN looked. Popular Information searched all 50 states. I searched The Florida Bar's directory five different ways and checked under the couch cushions. Nothing. When someone asked where she passed the bar, she said, and I am not making this up, "When I moved to China."

Jyy-na, Katie. Your orange-tinged, bloviating boss would want you to say it right.

Adding to the problem, she told a podcast she's a lawyer, Fox introduced her as "Attorney Katie Zacharia," and on WABC radio she said, "I'm a lawyer." Her X bio put "Lawyer" right next to her title at Trump Media, a Florida corporation based in Sarasota. Florida takes this stuff more seriously than you'd think. I've seen it firsthand, and more about that in 15 seconds.

In California, that's a possible misdemeanor. In Florida, under Statute 454.23, it may be a third-degree felony. ("Third-Degree Felony" would also be a good name for a Black Flag cover band.)

So, as I'm apt to do, I filed complaints with the Florida and California Bars.

Now, for those wondering, "Who's this Chudley fellow, and what does he know about UPL?"

This isn't my first trip to the Bar's Tampa UPL office. Last year I filed six complaints there, and all six were accepted, investigated, and are currently in front of the local UPL committee. I should probably get a punch card. I also work with licensed counsel, who are real lawyers and can prove it; we know UPL.

The Bar makes the call. I just hand them the record.

For the record, I'm not a lawyer, and nothing here is legal advice. If you need one, call a licensed attorney (who, if you've read this far, probably isn't Kate Sharon Zacharia).

I’ll be starting around 11AM EST, for about two hours. Ask me about the complaints, how UPL works, how to file one, the Bible ban, the Festivus pole, or anything else.

I was a gifted child who went to college at 12. I dropped out and am now 24, flat broke and living with my grandparents. AMA

I was something you might call a "child prodigy" - went to a gifted elementary school, was still limited academically so was pulled out to homeschool, did dual enrollment 15 credit hours/semester for a couple years, got a full scholarship through Grad school for Business Analytics at UNCC. I then became rapidly disillusioned with my life, dropped out, and from 16 onward have been working random entry level jobs living paycheck to paycheck.

Most of my free time is spent playing strategy games and self-reflecting. I am obsessed with metacognition, and for better or for worse have effectively been a hermit for the past 8 years quietly building out my understanding of my mind and untangling the emotional and intellectual "spaghetti code" that I was left with after living a very lonely and completely outlandish life. I like to think I'm in something of a springboard position - I'm very competent in a wide variety of domains but due to the isolation hole I've dug myself into there's no telling when I'll be able to break through and germinate. I've run face first into many of the glaring societal issues that have destroyed community for a lot of people. I've been very resentful of these issues for much of my life, but I like to think I've moved past this and try my best to maintain a dispassionate outlook on my condition. I don't know that there's much to do other than bide my time and keep quietly searching for a path out.

In the early 2010s I became a "Columbiner". Police was sent to my home after I made threats to the prom of the class I dropped out of around 2015. I had no community radicalizing me, I was completely alone. Studying to help find a cure for cancer now btw, AMA

Idk I thought people would be interested how people can radicalize and de-radicalize themselves. I still like true crime but I do not build parasocial relationships with killers anymore though. Almost 30 now.

I come from an area of the world with very little gun violence and it was kind of hard for a kid to get a gun. I never owned one myself, ever. I was not a tumblr kid where those people seemed to have built the community around that time, I was completely alone, idealizing killers in my room

I’m a 6’3 woman, AMA

A lot of people like to look at me, so I figured I’d just post to know what you are all constantly so interested in lol. I’ve always been tall and I just didn’t stop. My dad was 6’8, so that’s where the height is from, my mom and stepdad are 5’10 and my stepbrother/sister are 5’8 and 5’2.

Growing up being the most *anything* is never fun, but being tall was certainly not fun. I always felt like I was too big and I feel that still sometimes. I can’t wear heels without looking ridiculous, and I feel like judges me. Clothes shopping is a nightmare, and I always just look out of place in pictures.

I feel like my stepbrother and sister especially don’t like having someone so tall around, and my stepbrother is really awkward and I just sorta sometimes feel like it’s great but most of the time I just kinda would have rather been 5’6 but genetics are genetics ig.

Idk where I’m going w this, but AMA!

Edit: 191 cm for the non-Americans out there
