Looking to move to Alpharetta, or just looking for something to do? Take a peek at this list before posting!
EDIT 7/10/19: This post is wildly outdated. If anyone wants to take it on themselves to compile a new one, I'll sticky it.
EDIT 3/18/2026: Nearly a decade old post now. A lot has happened/been developed in Alpharetta. Again, if someone would like to make an updated post, I'd be happy to sticky it.
We get a lot of folks looking to move to Alpharetta posting questions or newly-moved people who don't know what to do here, so I figured I could make it easier! I didn't vet any of these links for quality of responses, so feel free to post any of these questions again tailored to your personal needs! And if you have suggestions on any of these topics, don't be afraid to comment below.
I looked back to the last 12 months only. If anyone finds an older post they find useful, feel free to suggest it for the list.

Where are you all running that isn’t concrete?
Hey everyone! Former collegiate cross country and track runner here, getting back into it after a few years away from serious training. Where I grew up, we had tons of mountain biking trails, cross country courses, and other dirt or grass routes to train on. Around Alpharetta / Johns Creek, though, I’m absolutely clueless.
I’ve been running on the Greenway, but I’m looking to get off the concrete and back onto some dirt or grass. What are your go-to spots? Trails, parks, cross country courses that are open to the public… anything worth checking out. Doesn’t need to be fancy, just somewhere good to get some miles in.

Day care options
I work near the Halycon and live in Dawsonville, and I am looking for reputable daycare options closer to Halcyon and what the costs are hourly.
To be clear, I do not have a child yet. My husband and I are recently trying. I am just trying to plan ahead and get a rough idea for costs and how we will potentially split our schedules.

What's up with Lakhapani Preserve?
Just like the title suggests.
I wanted to check this place out, but most recent reviews are showing "trail closed" signs. Anyone know if this is legit or why? Looks like a beautiful place

Moving to Alpharetta - Looking for apartment complex that accepts pit bulls
Edit: For those of you who come across this post wondering the same thing - MAA in Duluth (https://www.maac.com/available-apartments/?propertyId=615284) has no breed bans and at the time of this post appears affordable. Shoutout to firetoki for letting me know.
Hello,
I plan on moving to Alpharetta next year sometime in March - I will be bringing my dog (2 year old Pit Bul @ 50ibs) and am having a very hard time finding an apartment that accepts pit bulls.
Anyone know of such a place that allows pit bulls that is not in the ghetto and is affordable or is this an impossible ask?
Thanks

Bartending services/ mobile bar
Hey folks! I’m just putting this out there in case anyone has any great advice or suggestions for someone looking to start their own mobile bartending business. I’ve heard that licensing isn’t required at first and that I could even offer bartending services without having a full on mobile bar/trailer to begin with. Just putting feelers out there. I am from Savannah and new to Alpharetta. I would like to remain local to the Alpharetta, Roswell, Johns creek area. Thank you!

Deciding between Ace Pickleball and Atlanta National Pickleball
Now that the weather will be turning cold soon I need to start playing pickle ball indoors. I played for about 6 months or so at Ace back in 2024, but have yet to play at ANPC.
I found Ace to be very loud due to nature of the structure itself and could also be very cliquish.
- If you've been to ANPC, how would you describe it?
- If you've been to both; how do they compare?

SwissWatchExpo - Past/Current Employee Opinions
Hello all! I was recently contacted by someone from this company for a watchmaking position. Upon looking up reviews on GlassDoor, I saw that the consensus was "RUN FAST AND RUN FAR". However, watchmaking jobs are slim pickings and I am interested in the position. Though, I don't want to up and move if it turns out the reviews are true.
So, does anyone have any opinions on working with or for SwissWatchExpo? I already made a huge move to Nashville for watchmaking and I don't want to go to the trouble of moving again for nothing.

Trustworthy dentist
Looking for a good, honest dentist in or near Alpharetta. Ideally a dentist that is not trying to make money off of you by recommending unnecessary services.

Looking for a home for this sweet boy
Looking for a home for this sweet boy! He randomly wandered to our host and moved in on our porch (We have a couple ferals my wife and I take care of), but it is very obvious he was abandoned and used to live in a home. He is SO sweet and friendly and we feel so bad he does not have a home he can live in.
If anyone was looking for a sweet friendly new companion, please DM me!

Jury duty
Hi:
I never drive to downtown Atlanta. Any advice on driving from Alpharetta to the courthouse tomorrow morning? What time to leave to be down there by 8:00 a.m.?
Thank you very much.

T-SLPOST 2026 initiative
Does anyone have details on the ballot initiative for the 2026 T-SPLOST, like what projects are pending for Alpharetta/North Fulton? I know Roswell has a list on roswellconnections, but I would like to see an Alpharetta or North Fulton list.

Best places to get a smoky old fashioned?
I've become sort of obsessed with drinking a good smoky old fashioned after a long day at work. The kind where they burn the wood and literally smoke the drink.
Where are your go-to spots to get one?
So far I've found good ones at:
Di Paolo
Taffer's Tavern
Ive heard Lazy Dog has one. But I havent tried it.
What say you, Alpharetta?

Alpharetta has a community zoning information meeting scheduled for October 14
Alpharetta's official calendar lists a community zoning information meeting for October 14 at 6 p.m.
Zoning discussions can affect future development, building density, traffic, and the character of nearby neighborhoods. They can also give residents a chance to find out what is being proposed before decisions move forward.
Has anyone attended one of Alpharetta's zoning meetings? How accessible is the process for residents who want to follow local development plans?
