Image/Photo "Two chopped chicken, please." 🍗
I'm a little late to the party with these!
I created a morale patch that describes the daily routine of the Al Udeid DFAC as my recent time there as many of us have experienced ordering "Two Chopped Chicken" and the flies taking over the DFAC.
They were originally supposed to be delivered while I was deployed out at Al Udeid, but Op Epic Fury ended up having other plans.
Since I'm back home and sitting on the remaining batch of 90 patches, I'm trying to clear them out to the r/AirForce community.
If interested see prices below and message me.
Pricing includes shipping (USPS ranges between $8-10 depending on location)
1 patch: $15
2 patches: $25
3 patches: $35
4 patches: $40
5 patches: $50
6 patches: $60

Question So can we wear foreign devices or not?
Active-duty enlisted USAF here. I earned the German Armed Forces Badge of Marksmanship (Schützenschnur—the rope/cord award), received permission to wear it in the past, and have passed blues inspections wearing it.
I’m currently in ALS and want to confirm whether it’s still authorized on service dress and how it should be positioned. My S1 said it no longer gets added to personnel records, but I’m unsure how that affects wear authorization.
I’ve checked DAFI 36-2903 and DAFMAN 36-2806, but most specific guidance I’m finding online is old or expired. Does anyone have a current reference or written AFPC clarification covering this award?
If it’s no longer authorized, I’d like to find out now so I can have the attachments removed from my coat. Appreciate any help, especially specific paragraph references.
(PS, I asked my ALS instructions and they gave me an answer that made me believe they weren’t even fully sure)

Discussion Former Air Force TI Sean Douglas Speaks to Marines About Suicide Prevention
Super proud of Sean for making this happen. The Marines have lost over 20 troops in a year to suicide and command brought him to Pendleton to talk about his own experiences in the Air Force serving in combat zones and overcoming his own struggles.
He told me personally that he roasted their command a bit for not focusing on the individual and that 2 hour safety briefs weren't a solution. Sean is a savage.

Question Pease AFB, New Hampshire
Was wondering if anyone knows anything about the area, the base, the surrounding areas/towns. Is it nice, what's there to do? What is the base like? Specifically if you are active duty going there, mainly for fabrication.
Oh, and how are the schools and things for kids to do etc.
Thank you in advance.

Image/Photo I posted here 5 months ago about finding a bunch of old photos/documents at an estate sale from a GE test flight pilot that worked at EAFB. Just found the rest of the contents in storage..
There's too many to post, but there's literally hundreds of photos here, ranging from what seem to be the early 50s to the mid 80s. Will probably be hitting up the EAFB historian.

Question Anyone been through AMRO / IRILO / MEB? Looking for advice and experiences.
Active-duty SSgt, almost 9.5 years TIS, working MX.
After 2+ years of progressively worsening symptoms, I was recently diagnosed by a civilian rheumatologist with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (MCTD), a rare systemic autoimmune disease similar to lupus. (So rare its not listed in the MDS) My IDMT is submitting my case to the AMRO Board soon.
My symptoms include chronic joint, muscle, and back pain, inflammation, fatigue, and occasional breathing difficulties. They’ve significantly affected my ability to perform physical duties, lift heavy objects, and participate in PT.
I’m currently prescribed azathioprine, an immunosuppressant used to control the disease by suppressing immune system activity. MCTD is chronic, and treatment is generally focused on managing symptoms and preventing complications.
I’m honestly pretty anxious about the whole process. After nearly a decade of service, my biggest fear is getting administratively separated without the benefits of medical retirement, especially after dealing with these issues for years.
For anyone who’s been through AMRO, IRILO, or an MEB, especially for autoimmune/chronic conditions:
What was your experience and final outcome?
What determines medical retirement vs. medical separation vs. administrative separation?
What should I be doing now to protect myself and ensure everything is properly documented?
Anything you wish you’d known before starting the process?
I’m not trying to game the system or guarantee a particular outcome. I just want to understand what I’m potentially facing and make sure I don’t get blindsided.
Would really appreciate any firsthand experiences or advice. Thanks!

Question Want to get tested for ADHD, unsure if it will negatively affect my career?
I know about how emphasized the idea of mental health not negatively impacting an Airman’s career, but I don’t hear a lot about behavioral health and how that’s received across the Force. I’ve spoken to some members about getting tested for ADHD before and they’ve all advised getting it done AFTER I’m done with my military career. I think they’re locked in on historic perception, but I’m not so weathered in this job that I have any frame of reference to oppose their comments.

Discussion HAMR
First time doing the HAMR for a PT test. Never practiced it before. PTLs were able to set up rabbit light to go with audio. Needless to say I’m never doing the 2 mile run for the cardio portion of the test for the rest of my time in the Air Force.

Rant I will not update my religion
I have checked my vRED and it is accurate as is. But to submit the verrified info, I need to alter my Preferred Religious Code. Integrity first. I am what I am. To say otherwise is a lie.
When asked "what is your preferred religion" I do not say "Not Shown" or "Other". I say what I am. And the DoW wants to change my belief to "No Religion." That is wildly inaccurate. Excellence in all we do. I have personally verified the information, but the system is prompting me to say inaccurate words to complete my vRED. I will not.
I may never update my vRED again so long as this persists. I will provide my CSS with the most current info though. But this is not Religious Freedom. And if the gov't wishes to punish me over it or even use this as a factor in my promotion board, then this is clearly Religious Persecution. Part of me hopes it does came to that. Change my records to whatever you want. I will not. I will stand by my beliefs, my convictions, and the truth.

Question TLE Eligibility Help
Looking for any finance SMEs familiar with the JTR.
I’m on PCS orders with TDY en route for retraining, but my training location is the same installation listed as my gaining PDS. I’m currently assigned to the training squadron and will join my actual unit after graduation.
Finance cited JTR Table 3-5, Rule 3, and said I’m not authorized lodging or per diem during training.
My question is: Does this also make me ineligible for TLE under JTR 050601, or is TLE evaluated separately?
I’m trying to understand my entitlements before paying out of pocket for temporary lodging. If anyone has dealt with this or can point me to the applicable JTR language, I’d really appreciate it!

Question Would this be something my First Sergeant or JAG could help with? (USERRA related)
I'm currently active-duty Air Force and looking for some advice on whether my situation is something worth bringing to my First Sergeant or the base legal office.
Before enlisting, I was working for a civilian employer on a contract that was coming up for renewal. I informed my supervisor that I would be enlisting in the Air Force before my planned departure date. My intention was to give my employer advance notice so the team would have time to prepare for my departure and avoid putting my coworkers in a difficult position. However, my contract was not renewed, and I was subsequently asked to submit a resignation letter, even though my understanding was that the employer had decided not to renew my contract.
Looking back, I sometimes feel that if I had simply waited until shortly before leaving for BMT and given the standard two weeks' notice, I might have avoided this situation. I was trying to do the responsible thing by giving my employer and team more time to prepare, but that decision seems to have ended up working against me.
After my employment ended, I was unemployed and available for work while waiting to leave for BMT. I was also looking for part-time employment during that period.
I later received an unemployment overpayment determination from the state of Nevada. I appealed the decision and recently attended a hearing, but unfortunately, the outcome was unfavorable. The hearing decision characterized my testimony as vague, and I feel that I was at a disadvantage because I lacked sufficient documentary evidence to support my account of what happened. This has made me concerned that I may have limited options for challenging the decision further.
I'm wondering whether there could be a potential USERRA issue regarding the circumstances surrounding my contract nonrenewal, and whether it's worth speaking with my First Sergeant or JAG about the situation.
I'm not expecting the military to automatically take over a civilian legal dispute. I just want to understand whether there are legitimate avenues for assistance before giving up on the matter.
Honestly, one of the most frustrating parts of this experience is that I was trying to give my employer advance notice out of consideration for my team, and I now feel that doing so may have put me in a worse position. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation or has experience with JAG, USERRA, or military legal assistance. Thank you.
