How do you keep your hand steady? My thumb also gets a little sore after. Am I holding the pen too hard?

I am very new to the zentangle art. I want to buy a few art supplies and am looking for sketchbook/ pads recommendations. I’ll mainly be using alcohol markers, fineliners, and gel pens (similar to the pictures), and possibly acrylic markers now and then. Does anyone have suggestions for good, reasonably priced sketchbooks or pads for beginners?

They're not perfect, but better than most I've done so far 😅

First one is done with color pencils. The other two with my new alcohol markers. I still need better paper, but I like how smooth the markers are.

Some only partially finished because the ADHD won and I’m on to my next hobby/craft for the time being. 😅

Specifically inspired by u/moonriverart and u/danilorreyesart ‘s beautiful works. Due to life lifing, I haven’t made time for art in so many years. It’s hard to get back into someone you were once so good at and loved. Hoping to keep my practice going because it brings so much calm and happiness.

I just draw this about an hour or so ago. First time I drew something and posted it soon after. 😁😱 I taped off my page. Scribbled and scribbles. I outlined the triangular variants in black. I peeled back the tape and then thought it needed MORE. So I added gold and purple to make more patterns. 💜💛

Definitely need more practice, but this was a fun first dive in!
