Night life for 30+
Hello all, I just moved to the area a month ago from out west for work opportunities. Now that I am a little more settled in I was wondering what sort of night life/things to do locally for someone in their 30's?
If posts like this are frowned upon, my apologies I will remove it.

Can I mail Waltham a check for my daughter's pre-k tution?
I seem to remember this being possible. I got put on a payment play that charges me 11 dollars per transaction (through Myschoolbucks.com) to pay for her school, which is insulting. If I make a single payment and close out the account, it charges me 11 dollars per transaction that I WOULD have made, so they rack up the charges. Its not the money, its the principle of being charges a garbage fee. Can I mail them a check or so I have to use that myschoolbucks, which is a total and complete rip off.

Waltham Police Relief Association payouts: seeking anecdotes
I am a reporter for The Waltham Times writing a story on the Waltham Police Relief Association and how it gets its purported benefit payments to its members. Several families who have dues paying members who have retired or passed away have reported not receiving payments. If you have experience with payments (or lack thereof) from the WPRA, please message me. I’d love to hear from you to flesh this story out!

Community Recs/Opinions Why do public schools get a bad rep?
Trying to figure out why schools in Waltham get a bad rep? Im latino and would love to buy a larger home for a “reasonable” price, but get spooked by people crapping on Waltham’s public school system. Bear in mind we’re only considering Newton, Wellesley, Needham but have to compromise much more in these towns.

3 Bedroom House for Rent
I’m trying to break my lease, so with the cooperation of the landlord we’re looking for a new tenant to take over this lease in Waltham near Brandeis.
$3700/month, water and sewer included.
Washer & Dryer are provided as-is (if they break, you’d have to replace them, but they’ve been working well for as long as I’ve been here).
Kitchen is fairly new and all the appliances work well.
More information and contact to tour available here: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/34-Albert-St-Waltham-MA-02453/56367042_zpid/

Community Recs/Opinions Nashville Hot Fried Chicken Suggestions
Looking for suggestions for a place that serves Nashville Hot Chicken in or near Waltham. I used to go to Redbones but figured I'd look for something more local. Thanks in advance!

Former Brothers Marketplace space vacant after five years as Roche Bros. retains lease
I’m glad the Waltham Times investigated why 1 Moody remains vacant since Brothers closed, however it doesn’t seem like they were able to get any real info from Northland (the owner) or Roche Brothers.
My guess is it’s a 10-15 year lease with substantial termination fees, and Roche Brothers can’t or won’t get out of it. They may be asking Northland for a break on those fees to exit, and Northland feels they’re getting better rent with a vacant space than re-renting.
Therefore we could be looking at another 5-10 years of prime downtown real estate sitting empty. It really hurts our city to have major vacancies like this.
According to the article, the mayor says a Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods would be ideal candidates for this space. It also sounds like the Charles River Food Co-op is interested. I’d be highly supportive of any of these options.
I hope that the local government can find a way to bring these parties to the table, facilitate the termination of the lease and clear the way for another operator. There has to be some kind of incentive and/or leverage to get Northland and Roche Brothers to do the right thing for the city.

Help recovering a package
Trying my luck here. I live on South Street by the 99. Amazon delivered my package but that picture is not of my home, nor is it any in the immediate area. I’m hoping anyone that may have got a package in my name sees this

News Hockey Rink
I'm sure there are a few reasons for wanting to keep Veterans rink under agreement. It's pretty central to most of Waltham, and we don't want to lose the parking because it's used for Prospect Hill. But we are a rather large city and ice time is not cheap. Would adding two rinks on Trapelo Rd. whether we keep veterans or not be such a bad idea?

Trick or Treat neighborhoods
I live in Waltham and have two young kids. Last year we tried to trick or treat in our neighborhood (in the Banks Square area) but there were very few houses with the lights on/giving out candy. I was thinking of going somewhere else this year. Does anyone know of good trick or treat neighborhoods?
