Question Tipping

I have recently signed up for Walmart+ and I’m curious about tips.

For context- I live in a rural/ low income area. There are mountains, lots of back roads, and roughly 45% of the county population lives below the federal poverty line. Many people towards town DoorDash and do Spark delivery to make ends meet. The way the economy is, I understand why. I am working around 50 hours a week myself.

I live roughly 12 miles from a Walmart (about a 20 minute drive one way) and I want to make sure I tip fairly. I feel like ordering online will help me keep on track with items I NEED without making impulse buys in the store and this will help me save in the long run.

I am wondering how much is a fair tip? Does Walmart pay spark drivers a base pay per trip? Is any of their pay based on order size or mileage (will they compensate them fairly for driving so far)? Of course I am tipping regardless, but I want to be fair to the delivery driver.

Thank you in advance!

Delivery Major Issues

For the life of us, we've been waiting 3 days for a $106 order with only about 26 items. It is EBT food stamps only, so I'm guessing the driver's don't see a Tip and refuse the order, because during a Conference call the local store manager said the driver walked in and immediately left. they claim they can't find a driver for 3 days?!

Neither has Walmart support been able to figure why they can't find a driver AT ALL to deliver my disabled, partially Mobile mother her groceries.

She had a Knee replacement surgery, and can't really get to a store.

They've refused to not only refund the order, but just deliver it at all. We've had about 5 different people answer, while most of them Leave us on Hold for several hours, to either letting the Call go into Limbo with Silence. We're being completely scammed at this point, that even a 7 year old can understand this.

From Sally, to Princess, to Muhammad, and even the Manager of our local store (who sounded completely uninterested, and disrespectful with speaking in a Conference call to remedy the situation)

We can't even be given a answer to our issues, instead we are given cold ignorance and mockery as they laugh in the background of the Calls. A supervisor even told us to go and PICKUP our own delivery order.

As I write this we've just had another Female, Non English speaking Grunt leave us on a dead line with nothing but silence.

What should we do from here? Consider a legal avenue, or continue to pester them to have our Food stamps refunded. We recently switched to Kroger, but found that they're also just as bad. However they never held our Money hostage like this. The manager claimed that since the order is delayed several days, they can't refund the money now.

What in the hell is going on?!

edit: seems like nobody cares they're holding the money hostage, and would rather encourage and focus solely on the Criminal drivers "Moral Right" to extort Tips, through a Payment method that doesn't allow Tipping At all! While being Trolls, and Acting Obtuse for the sake of getting a reaction. This is genuinely absurd, and to the person who was sensible enough to suggest contacting our local DFACs office. Thank you. My mother is currently on the phone now, seeing what they can do to remedy the situation.

Sad to see just how pathetic people are, to suggest giving more money, to have the original payment get what is due, solely because of a Damn tip. I can only imagine, what people in wheelchairs go through, with this Lack of empathy, and intense cruelty let alone anyone else unable to receive a Delivery. Shame, Shame, Shame on all of those who think that is right, and may misery have mercy upon you as it's already living comfortably with you.

In Home InHome Delivery tracking has not worked right for more than a month, is it just me?

(Third times a charm I guess, adding user flair the first time didn't take apparently?)

So, starting a few months ago roughly, the InHome delivery tracking map stopped working right. I have tried it in the Walmart app and in two different browsers, so it doesn't seem to be something in my control.

What happens is the driver icon stays stuck at the Walmart location for the entire delivery tracking. It never moves. It will update the number of stops remaining, but it never moves the icon. I remember it working when I first signed up for InHome. I tried alerting Walmart to this issue multiple times but it seems nobody cares on their end. It seems since this started, they at least fixed the issue with the feedback button not working on the tracking page, and they changed the design and look of the tracking/order page, but this issue still exists.

I guess my big question is if this is something happening to others as well. At least if it happens to other people, it might suggest some issue with the tracking itself and maybe not just the local tracking.

EDIT: A slight change was noticed on most recent delivery. The last leg of the trip updates to show where the driver is when it updates, but then the map doesn't update anymore, so the driver appears "stuck" at the previous delivery location even as they are pulling up to my place.

EDIT again: Well this is odd. After months of not working right, and even not working on yesterdays order, today it appears to be working correctly (for the most part). One day after posting about a problem that has been going on for months, suddenly it's working. Could be a coincidence, but very strange.

EDIT yet again: I spoke a little too soon. The tracking is partially working. It worked for part of the journey and now it's broken again showing the driver is, well, who knows where really. The map looks odd and will not be showing a screenshot due to privacy concerns. It's basically still not working right, but at least the driver icon isn't stuck at the Walmart like it was. Improvement? Whoever coded the stuff involving tracking of InHome is dropping the ball big time lol

Question Bacon and lunch meat not deliverable?

For the last week all of the bacon and lunch meat has been greyed out but I go to the store and they are stocked up. Why would the app do that?

Question Why is there no shipping option anymore?

I'm trying to order a sports bra and I can't get it ordered because there's no shipping option anymore and it won't let me set it for a scheduled delivery. My order got split in two, the sports bra in a separate category that says "free delivery" and everything else in the regular delivery option. I'm confused whether this second option is basically shipping or what's going on. I can't place the order until I know whether this second category is shipping because my shipping address is different than my delivery address as I live in a college dorm and the mailing center where shipping orders go is in a completely different building. My dorm building is also locked, so without the ability to schedule the delivery, there's no way I can get the items if it is just through the regular delivery through the drivers.

Complaint Walmart online order Delivery Driver (spark) damaged our driveway: What can I do?

Long story short: Walmart online order (edit: not a grocery delivery, a small drill machine parts ordered for shipping, Walmart set how the delivery would be handled) which was delivered through spark driver and the driver ignored the tape that was put out to our newly done and painted driveway, paid $2k to the contractor just yesterday to finish the project (Don’t know why the driver had to drive on this driveway when it is just a short 15ft walk over the lawn to the door). Video from our security camera shows the driver drove away with the tape still stuck to the rear wheels.

called customer service, told me to go to store to issue a claim number, and then report back that claim number for processing. But store says it’s the other way around, but also says they don’t deal with spark drivers because it is a 3rd party contract. Called the cops and they said I can do police report and make a civil case claim in the court. but all of these seem like a dead end for me. What can I do?

Update: I reached out to walmart claims department as suggested here, they reached back quickly and provided driver’s Auto insurance. I will submit a claim there and in any case driver’s Auto insurance denies claim, I was advised by Walmart claim adjuster to reach out again for the additional step. Thanks again to those who understood my situation and provided valuable suggestions.

Shipping Help - “Shipping” Order Delayed for 2 Days

Hi everyone! I’ve had Walmart+ for months, have spent thousands upon thousands, and for the most part love it and have had great experiences.

The trouble started when I made my regular big biweekly grocery order last Friday. Some of the items I ordered weren’t available for same day delivery from my “home” store so 6 items totaling about $100 were bundled together for “shipping”. This happens often and I always get the items either that same day in a separate delivery or over the next couple days. This was during their recent deals event and one of the items was a knockoff Instant Pot that had been marked down to $60.

Originally it was supposed to get here Sunday. It got delayed to Monday. No big deal, as this happens from time to time and it always comes on the next date. I live in Woodland Hills, CA and the tracking page showed it had been “shipped” from Chino, CA, which is about 2.5 hours away on Sunday afternoon and should arrive Monday, yesterday, by “end of day”. Yesterday came and went, no package and not even anymore updates to the tracking page (which by the way has an awful customer interface and is really vague and confusing).

This morning, I check again. Still no updates to the tracking page and now it says “delivery from store” even though it also says it was “shipped” from Chino on Sunday?? Now I’m starting to panic.

I open up a chat with customer service. They tell me that they can’t start a replacement or refund process until tomorrow because often delayed shipments arrive after 8 P.M. on the third day, but they also can’t tell me where my package is, what might have happened to it, when I might get it, or if I will get it at all.

They tell me it’s being delivered from a Walmart in Burbank, CA. That city is about 45 minutes away. Now I’m really confused. I ask if they’re positive that it’s being delivered from that store even though it showed shipped from a completely different, much farther city, two days ago. They confirm and let me know since they can’t do anything for me right now, they encourage me to call the store and see if I can find out about my package. I call the department extension directly. They don’t answer. I call customer service and ask to be transferred. They don’t pick up.

At this point I’m extremely frustrated and anxious. I really need the pressure cooker, I planned meals around it and my next grocery order around it, and not only that, the package contained other essentials and I can’t afford to just buy another $60 pressure cooker or spend another $100 on all the same essentials. I rearranged our budget this week specifically to invest in the pressure cooker because it’s going to be very valuable for certain things in the next few months as we have to temporarily cut our grocery budget down as much as possible.

Is anyone able to shed some light on what’s going on?

Question Delivery Order

I'm a Walmart+ member and I placed a $300 grocery delivery order Sunday morning... delivery time was 8pm-10pm the same evening. The order never arrived.

Support said since the driver hadn't delivered it 40 min after leaving the store, they called the order back to the store... but they never rescheduled it.

Support also says there's nothing they can do until 48 hours after delivery time.
I can't get a refund and the order appears to be lost in the system. The store won't answer their phones.

It's the most ridiculous issue l've ever dealt with.

Any suggestions on how to get someone to do something about it?

About Customer To All Customers

Please rate your drivers after each delivery. Customer ratings are now being used in a rewards based system for the drivers so it is important to rate.

Please keep in mind:

If your order was shopped by a Walmart employee the driver is just delivering it, they had nothing to do with the selection of your groceries.

Thank you

Complaint scheduling feature no longer works

for the past two weeks, i have had issues using walmart's scheduling feature for getting my groceries delivered. i've been a walmart plus member for over two years now. this has never been a problem. i use the app, and i set it to every monday for between 5-7.

last week when this happened, i thought, "well, let me try using the website." so i did, and i made sure it was scheduled in advance (again - as it always has been). this required me to do the entire process over, but nonetheless, i added everything.

same shit today. my phone is on focus mode throughout the day, i go to check it... no notifications, no updates, no, "your order was delivered." i even checked outside (i WFH). now i've had to pay for express delivery twice due to their own system's incompetence.

also, once i re-schedule it, it goes through perfectly fine – it makes it seem like the changes were saved, when they weren't.

anyone else?

Delivery I used Walmart in-home delivery for the first time today and it was not a good experience.

I have Walmart plus and I had recently made a post about my experience with my deliveries. Some of the suggestions made were for me to try in-home delivery. Thankfully, I’m on a trial so I can cancel it before the trial is over. But overall, my delivery experience today was not good. You can tell that the person who did my delivery just didn’t care. Whoever packaged my food just threw everything into the bag like nothing. I ordered some individual yogurts that I usually get every week. One of the yogurts was open and spilled all over some of the groceries that I had ordered.

I ordered a green bell pepper and some avocados, but I never received them. Instead, they gave me jalapeño peppers which I did not order. The coffee I usually buy was apparently out of stock so they sent me a substitution which I approved but when the bags arrived, the original coffee that I usually buy was the one in the bag not the substitute.

I also hadn’t noticed this before, but I was going back through the Walmart app to review my order. It says that I opted to have the items delivered directly inside my kitchen. Well, the driver didn’t even knock on my door. They just left it at the door and I got a text message saying that my order was delivered. They didn’t even bother knocking on my door and wait for me to answer so they could bring the items inside.

I was hoping for a better experience, but I guess not. Now I have to go back to the store for the missing items that they missed which sort of defeated the purpose since I was trying to do the in-home delivery to avoid having to go to the store.

Shipping Delayed, check back for updates

So the order was placed about 6AM on Friday morning. I knew when I placed it, that Saturday would be the delivery objective. For the entire day, the order said they were searching for a driver. A few minutes past 9 PM on Saturday evening, order status flipped from searching for a driver to Delayed, check back for updates. My guess is that there is a delivery bottleneck, with too many orders and too few drivers. Everything in the order is AMBIENT. Not that many items, but the net order weight is ~40 pounds. Order was originally tagged for SHIPPING, but WM changed it to DELIVERY. SuperCenter is the only WM for 40 miles.

In one sense this is better, because I'm heading to bed, and there has been intermittent rain all evening. Nothing I'm in immediate need for, just don't want it to get left out in the box overnight.

Complaint Marked Delivered Not Received

I ordered some things last night that I needed and it kept getting delayed and delayed then the driver marked it as delivered but I never received my items. On their end it’s saying delayed and they won’t refund me or cancel it. Am I screwed out of my money? It’s my fault for doing rush so late in the day I guess.

Question Can't order perishables: Day 7

Post image
4 Upvotes

I've been trying for a week now to order perishable items (like cheese, yogurt, frozen fruit) on the app. They show as out of stock. I'm able to order non-perishables like canned food, dog treats, and vitamins.

I thought it might be that a fridge or freezer was down, or that they hadn't received a shipment. But after the third day, I called the store. First I spoke to someone in the app/delivery department, who said that it must be an app glitch because everything was fully stocked. They suggested I call the main customer service number, but they were no help and said to call the store. I tried calling back (several times) to reach a manager, but no luck getting through their ridiculously frustrating phone system. I had my aunt AND my sister each check on their own app, and they see the same "out of stock" notification.

I keep thinking the store will notice at some point that every single order is without perishables. But apparently not. How the heck do I let them know about this issue? I'd just drive down there but I'm currently recovering from foot surgery so I'm house bound. (Yes, I ended up ordering from another store via Instacart, which was pretty pricey.)

Ideas?

Delivery Has anyone ever been overcharged?

I always buy around $150 worth in groceries but noticed one that was $1,099.99..I know I didn’t make that one so I contacted my bank and notified them - they are investigating .. I’m wondering if the could be an error in Walmarts behalf?

anyone with experience with something like this?

It was all boxes. My whole lil Mazda 3 was filled and it did indeed take me 2.5 hours. Everyone ordered only one thing and it was a little nice that all the boxes were labled and they weren’t in bags thrown around my car by the employees. But still don’t know if I’d do this again that’s the longest I’ve spent on a delivery so far.

Question Tips Question

So I recently discovered that a Walmart actually delivers groceries in my area (I live about 30 miles from any Walmart, so I didn’t think I’d ever be able to get delivery).

What I’m not sure about is how much tip would be appropriate for that long of a drive. It would be 60 miles in total so I would want to make it worth the drivers time, especially considering gas prices. Gas prices in my area right now are anywhere from $3.50 to $4.00 per gallon.

I’ve heard different opinions on it, so I wanted to ask actual drivers, what tip would make a 60 miles round trip worth the drive?

Complaint shipped item keeps changing to delivery from store and wrong item?

Earlier, i ordered this fuggler (1st image) shipped. I checked on its status some hours later and it was a completely different fuggler arriving from the store (already on the way). I never got an email saying out of stock or substituted. I also thought substitutions wouldn't occur for shipped items ? Now i'll have to deal with returning the unwanted fuggler lol

I tried to chat with customer service and they said there was no substitution noted, just a change of delivery method. I asked if I would be able to get my product if I re-ordered it but they said theres no guarantee lol.

I re-ordered just to see ... and it happened again. Item is still not listed as out of stock for shipping, yet it got transferred to a store delivery with the wrong item again. I was able to cancel the second one before a driver picked it up.

I'm confused why they wouldn't just mark it out of stock if they couldn't deliver it via shipping or store... Also confused why I never got an email explaining it being out of stock / changed delivery / substituted

Just kinda ranting and also wondering if anyone else has had something of the sorts happen to them... first world problem fs but i just wanted my fuggler lmao

Delivery Pin removed from delivery order

Hello!

Since I live in an apartment I always select the option to have my orders require a handoff so that a PIN is required for the delivery. I like having the PIN because it gives me peace of mind that I'll get my order without any issues.

Lately though, I've noticed that with some of my orders the PIN is shown when I first place the order but then disappears once the order reaches the delivery stage. When that happens the driver just hands me the order and leaves without asking for a PIN or signature. And one time they just took a picture of my door number plate to complete it.

I think of all the orders I've made only 2-3 times has it switched to signature and I actually had to sign even though it had a pin attached at first.

Does anyone know why the PIN requirement sometimes disappears after the order has already been placed? When I go back and check the order on the site it's gone from there as well like it never had one.

Walmart's AI couldn't explain why it happens. It just confirmed that the PIN requirement can sometimes be removed from orders.

Also for anyone who has Walmart+ InHome, dol InHome grocery deliveries still have the 4-digit PIN/must hand off option? Or does InHome use a completely different delivery verification?

About Driver Walmart thinking of contract termination!

Ight so ya boy is a 1099 driver for Walmart but through a 3rd party courier. None of that Spark or Fetch stuff (not hating). I get paid by route & make double the $$ if I pick up a dropped route, not to mention I also get paid WEEKLY. The money has been great & I’ve been able to catch up on stuff & get back into my own space. I’ve been with this courier for close to 3 months now & honestly I love delivering & dispatch is VERY helpful & hears us out. I only have 100 stops or less, nothin more which is CAKE considering I worked for Trash-azon. They also recently bumped up the route pay due to Austin’s complexity at the moment with I-35 construction & outlying areas. We recently hired this young dude but all he did was complain, cry about his wrist hurting & he NEVER finished a SINGLE route by cut off time. I swear, not even once did he complete a route by 8pm. He was confirming his schedule but wasn’t showing up on time & starting way after 1pm. Close to 3pm is when he would hit the road for his very first stop. He couldn’t manage 25 stops an hour or keep pace so he started getting frustrated & making slick comments in chat.

Fast forward to this recent week, he wasn’t showing up at all even after dispatch confirmed with Walmart that he would be there. I even offered to ride along with him WITHOUT asking for pay just to give him a few pointers to navigate Austin apartments and some tight neighborhoods, hear him out & how he felt about delivering. All because I like to see folks succeed in their line of work, so we can all be successful. I thought it went well but after i left him on his own, he got into the chat saying we called him slow & that dispatch needs to get their shit right. Well you can bet my boss checked him & that made him even more upset I guess. He took the van back to site with more than half of his packages delivered. Dude literally had 82 stops on Thursday. EIGHTY TWO! & he only completed 31 by 5pm. He said he “slipped” in the rain & hurt his wrist, so he couldn’t turn the wheel in the van. Last time I checked we had 2 hands but whatever man. So Walmart caught up to his dropped routes & him not finishing on time. They sent an Email to my boss stating if we keep dropping routes, our contract will be terminated & that’s the end of it. So now ima lil stressed out cause WTF do I do if it happens? One bad apple literally screwed us over & we’re barely keeping the route alive. I’ve worked 6 days this week cause drivers simply cannot grasp the concept of matching an address, confirming & dropping a simple package off. I might have to find a new company to deliver for very soon. In fact, I’ve already been looking. This shit SUCKS
