I saw a sign for garage sale while i was out for a drive and it was a really nice old guy, he had some very neat vintage stuff, including an old 60s IBM selectric typewriter which I also bought! Anyways I posted this on another sub about WW2 and the mods took it down for some reason, I just wanted to know if I bought something that’s interesting or special. Thank you! I came across this unusual piece of artwork at a thrift store for just $1. I had a pretty good idea of what it might be depicting, but I wasn’t entirely sure, so I decided to post it in r/whatisit to see what everyone thought.

To my surprise, the actual artist commented on my post and reached out to me! I checked out their Instagram page, and sure enough, the signature and artwork matched.

As it turns out, my suspicions were correct. It’s a painting of a sex toy. Anal beads, to be exact! According to the artist, it was part of a series featuring different sex toys, created to promote kink positivity.

The artist and I both found it absolutely hysterical that one of their paintings somehow ended up in a thrift store with a $1 price tag!

What makes it even funnier to me is imagining some sweet little old lady working at the thrift store, completely unaware of what she’s looking at, casually slapping a $1 price tag on a painting of anal beads and putting it out for sale. Obviously, I have no idea who actually priced it, but the mental image alone cracks me up!

I bought it because I thought it was such an unusual and interesting find, but now that I know the story behind it, I love it even more. I’d honestly love to find the other pieces in the series, although I realize that’s probably a long shot.

Just goes to show that you truly never know what you’re going to come across while thrifting!

Between the 'bruises' on the neck, the child panties, the red knees and the fact it is life sized. The hell is this?? One of those dolls they use for like trauma therapy?

I've pixelated as it's quite graphic! This is in a very small UK village which makes it all the more peculiar.
